JH 1.0 out of 5 stars When I connected it, a replacement of a no name brand unit, all the functions appeared to set up right, and in manual mode, I could see all 5 zones listed appropriately with the little raindrop icon in the display. Once I transferred the program, that didn't work. It does not work in automatic or manual mode. I have an older one of this same model that works great. It's just these new ones, with the current software downloaded from www.toro.com, and it's on a new PC, so it isn't a conflict with older software. In short, their tech support is ineffective, a little rude, and I am now stuck with two units that don't work while it's 90 degrees outside with plants wilting. Life is too short to put up with poorly designed software. I would suggest skipping the fancy machine with bad software and just buy a good product from a different manufacturer.I only had one program.http://dermatologie-chamonix.com/userfiles/curtis-mathes-manual.xml Until I added a second program for rainy periods, I realized that the timer will not understand the second program's instructions and will just follow the 1st program. I've researched this on the Toro website forum and found that other people have experienced the same thing. The work around, according to the forum, is to 'manually' program the second and third programs instead of relying on the time pod to communicate with the timer. I haven't tested this method yet and can't tell you if it actually works. The time pod is a good concept but Toro just doesn't deliver on this good idea. I hope they will come up with a software update. This past garden season, I found out the timer can turn the water on 4 times per day. Awesome. This was a replacement for another Toro 53794 ECTRA 6 zone timer. I have owned this Toro timer for years. This the first one that has lasted only 4 years. It took 5 minutes to install and connect to the system. The provided software and USB transfer device allows you to set your schedule(s), save them on your computer, and easily (painlessly) transfer them to the controller unit in seconds. In addition, you can print the schedules out for future reference. No more setting up schedules by turning knobs and pressing buttons numerous times on the actual controller. A lot of utility for the price, IMO.I started using it only to find that it had bizarre behavior and the clock would randomly change times. I called Toro and there was nothing they could do. So I got another. I liked the ability to program it from my PC then transfer the program to it. The software doesn't seem to work for my city - Boise, Idaho - in the automatic mode so I just set the times manually. I added the rain sensor to it and that works fine. I'm using it for 8 zones and will add two more soon. Overall I like it. The software could use a little improvement however. It also will not run more than one zone simultaneously.http://www.familyreunionapp.com/family/events/boss-br-1600-cd-manual-espa-ol If you have a long watering time in the B program it makes the C program wait until the B is done before starting. Once I realized this I worked around it but it would be nice to be able to specify as my B zone is all drip and doesn't use much water so the C program could run at the same time. The second one, purchased on Amazon, has started random timing behavior as well. I have an almost dead new tree out of the deal because I didn't notice it right away. In any case I bought an Irrigation Caddy ( a lot more costly ) and I'm now using that. I have a yard full of Toro products and I'm losing sprinklers as well. I'm guessing Home Depot stopped selling Toro in its stores here because if issues but who knows. They used to have great stuff.I have a 8 zone and I was able to use my old Toro timer modules they also sell Toro 53741 ECxtra 2-Zone Module clamshellsAll in all a nice unit.Page 1 of 1 Start over Page 1 of 1 In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. BookGuy 5.0 out of 5 stars Programming manually is just as mind-numbing as on any other controller. You really need to know what you want to do (e.g., 12-minutes for the grass, 20-minutes for the drip along the garage, 15-minutes for the shrubs along the driveway. The buttons and dial are cogent and easy to use. The LCD is good with lots of icons to indicate status. Wiring is a snap with easy connectors and easy access. Best of all, the Ecxtra comes with non-volatile RAM inside. This means you don't need a backup battery in it. The Ecxtra is easily expandable up to 10-zones by clicking in a small 2-Zone module. So, if you buy the 6-Zone Ecxtra you can expand it to either 8- or 10-Zones with either 1 or 2 additional modules. The modules are sold separately. It takes the mind-numbing programming process and tosses it out the window. If you have the software, it asks you very simple questions, and you give simple answers, and voila. You then take the TimePod and connect it to your Ecxtra where it downloads the schedule, and you're done. It's really quick and easy to use. Probably the easiest part of the whole Ecxtra experience. Just know your Zip Code and you're good. It's not hard at all, and it's kind of fun. The software interface looks a little dated--like an interface you might have seen in the Windows 95-98 timeframe, but it's functional and not all that bad unless you're a computer interface purist. Be aware, though, that earlier versions of the Schedule Advisor software had some bugs. I faced this problem. They're up to version 1.0.60 as of June 2008. They have also released a Vista-compatible beta version of the software (v.1.1.8) as of June 2008. It has probably gone final if you read this review after July-August 2008. Overall, I like the Ecxtra a lot. I love the computer-savvy aspect and the non-volatile RAM. Both are excellent ideas, in my opinion, and a long time coming, but now they're here. Please try again later. Please try again later. Eddiebezzell 2.0 out of 5 stars My problem is not that as I erased all programs, unplugged it for hours and tried again.Good Luck not getting a City Citation with this little puppy. Please try again later. Please try again later. Juan in Chattanooga 1.0 out of 5 stars I've been using it for a few years. The timer can be programmed using a USB module or manually. Both have proven unreliable to me. With the first USB module I would make program changes and later find out that only some of the data was written to the irrigation controller. Toro knew this because when I called them they sent me a different module with newer firmware. Because of this I started programming mine manually at the controller. Last month I overseeded my lawn and set the irrigation controller to cycle 15 minutes per zone 4 times a day. After one week I manually deleted this program. That same night the irrigation started running for 15 MINUTES PER ZONE.Please try again later. Please try again later. Cobalt Lioness 5.0 out of 5 stars In response to some earlier comments. First this timer uses A, B, C programming for all zones. This allows you to put different watering requirments to selected zones. If you have one zone tied to more than one A, B or C program it will run each of them. If you want to switch back and forth one zone to run separate programs, you will have to reprogram that zone to that. Second, the ECXTRA has an automatic circuit protection to prevent timer damage from an electricity overload. When this happens, an error message of FUSE is displayed. (There really is no fuse in the timer, though.) This lets you know that you have a faulty solenoid or pump start relay. On page 37 of the instruction manual, this is explained. Please try again later. Please try again later. Richard M. Sartori 3.0 out of 5 stars This new model gets rid of the battery backup and will internally hold its memory for several years but the clock will have to be reset on loss of power. This is absolutely not true. It will not do that. If I set the switch to 'B'. Toro recognizes this, but ignores my problem. Ok.but at least change the implication that they are independant. They are not. Please try again later. Please try again later. Ken 1.0 out of 5 stars Someone with some common sense needs to design this clock so it can be quickly programmed or operated manually so individual lawn or drip system areas can receive extra attention just on their own. Please try again later. Alger 5.0 out of 5 stars This is the fourth sprinkler system I've installed and this is a standout: Computer programmable (with an additional module); snap in wire connectors; directions for connections and use are clear and well-written by someone who speaks English. We're here to help! Select your controller type below for targeted instructions on wiring your controller. If your system is a little more complicated, you may have more wires than zones to accommodate things like Master Valves, Pump Start Relays, and Indexing Valves. Advanced wiring requires a little extra configuration, but the instructions below will help you through most wiring situations. Insert them into the blue numbered terminals. An 8-zone controller can accommodate 1-8 zone wires; a 16-zone controller can accommodate 1-16 zone wires. A Master Valve is a “normally closed” valve installed at the supply point of the main line that opens whenever a zone is operating. When wires are successfully inserted into the Rachio 3 terminals, the terminal buttons will fix in an upward position. Have questions? Check out our installation guide. Since the Rachio 3 controller outputs 24VAC, a pump start relay is required when using a pump with the Rachio 3. The controller does not provide main power for a pump. Specific model recommendations below: The order of the zones cannot be changed on an Indexing Valve and are predetermined by the order in which they were installed. For more information, please see this support article. A pump start relay is required when using a pump with an Indexing valve. If you are unsure how to set up your rain sensor with the Rachio 3, click here for further instructions. Insert them into the blue, numbered terminals. An 8-zone controller can accommodate 1-8 zone wires; a 16-zone controller can accommodate 1-16 zone wires. This will ensure a solid connection. SP is reserved for sensor power for a wireless rain sensor. Since the Generation 2 controller outputs 24VAC, a pump start relay is required when using a pump with the Generation 2. The controller does not provide main power for a pump. The order of the zones cannot be changed on an Indexing Valve and are predetermined by the order in which they were installed. For more information, please see this support article. A pump start relay is required when using a pump with an Indexing Valve. If you are unsure how to set up your rain sensor with the Generation 2, click here. The wiring guide below will help identify terminals. This will ensure a solid connection. If you have thicker gauge wires we recommend retrofitting with 18 gauge wires using a terminal strip. This ensures the Front Panel will properly attach. Since the Generation 1 controller outputs 24VAC, a pump start relay is required when using a pump with the Generation 1. The controller does not provide main power for a pump. The order of the zones cannot be changed on an Indexing Valve and are predetermined by the order in which they were installed. For more information, please see this support article. A pump start relay is required when using a pump with an Indexing Valve. To edit your advanced wiring, see the instructions below. Submit a request. Please view the steps and screenshots to access this feature: Click on the icon. See below for this example: For it to work correctly, you must always have an extra program start time that is above your watering frequency. If you want to change this, you must ensure the above is met. For instance, if you have set watering to twice a day, you must create three program start times for the third program start time (the extra watering schedule) to take effect. At this time, due to weather changes, no extra watering has been scheduled. Thus, only past events were used in this example. You could have a normal watering time of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. and a low-priority time of 12 p.m., which will get used only if you are watering more often and you need a third cycle for the day. Based on what we know at this time, people with the following conditions might be at an increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19: We are learning more about COVID-19 every day. This list is a living document that may be updated at any time, subject to potentially rapid change as the science evolves. What to consider before you go. There is no way to ensure you have zero risk of infection, so it is important to understand the risks and know how to be as safe as possible. Consider avoiding activities where taking protective measures may be difficult, such as activities where social distancing can’t be maintained. Everyone should take steps to prevent getting and spreading COVID-19 to protect themselves, their communities, and people who are at increased risk of severe illness. Here are some things to consider to help make your visit as safe as possible: So, think about: If this is not feasible, make sure the room or space is well-ventilated (for example, open windows or doors) and large enough to accommodate social distancing. People from the same household can be in groups together and don’t need to be 6 feet apart from each other. For example, don’t shake hands, elbow bump, or hug. Instead wave and verbally greet them. This will help with contact tracing if someone becomes sick. Masks are especially important when it is difficult to stay at least 6 feet apart from others or when people are indoors to help protect each other. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Have a no-touch trash can available for guests to use.
