Hamm 1.0 out of 5 stars My intent was to avoid having to do a rebuild by getting an inexpensive carb instead. After putting in the kit and wasting too much time, I couldn't get the engine to fire (an Echo backpack blower). No bueno. It just wouldn't start. I ended up blowing out the old carb with carb cleaner, putting it back in, going through the adjustments that didn't work on the new carb, and my old carb is now working pretty well. This carb was a total waste of my money. Don't waste yours. No instructions, but just pay attention to what you're taking off and the orientation. Carb unit was a perfect replacement. Replacing my old carburetor with this unit fixed it entirely. The only issue I had was that the black fuel-line which was laughably short. Long enough to hook up temporarily and test, but I'll need to purchase new fuel line before I can reassemble the unit. I'm so relieved the blower starts, I'm not upset about needing new fuel line.Unfortunately I could never get the blower to start with this new carburetor even after fiddling with the adjustments. I returned this item and picked up a Zama carburetor that worked on the first pull. This item is literally just cheap Chinese crap. But for the price, it was worth it. A simple drummer and notch, good as new. The plastic it would hit is useless and doesn't serve any purpose so dremmel away. Once that was done, fired right up and took minor tuning but ultimately runs perfectly now.Easy install. Fired right up. Good as new. Very pleased. Might order another at this price, just to keep on shelf for future years. The part where the fuel cable mounts was rubbing. I shaved it. Now it clears. But a good value for the money. In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. Retain hair with cap or net. Schedule heavy work for early morning or late afternoon hours when temperatures are cooler. Exposure to vibration and cold may cause tingling and burning sensations followed by loss of color and numbness in the fingers. The following precautions are strongly recommended because the minimum exposure which might trigger the ailment is unknown. Try to fill each day with jobs where operating the blower or other hand-held power equipment is not required. Certain repetitive hand activities may put you at a high risk for developing a Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI). An extreme RSI condition is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), which could occur when your wrist swells and squeezes a vital nerve that runs through the area. Some believe that prolonged exposure to vibration may contribute to CTS. CTS can cause severe pain for months or even years. Also, when grasping, use your whole hand, not just the thumb and index finger. Always keep exhaust area clear of flammable debris. Allow the engine and muffler to completely cool before performing any maintenance activity. Engine exhaust contains poisonous emissions and can cause serious injury or death. Look for potential hazards such as stones or metal objects. Do not stand on slippery, uneven or unstable surfaces. Do not work in odd positions or on ladders. Use only during appropriate hours. The higher the engine speed the louder the blower noise. Avoid contact during and immediately after operation. Always keep exhaust area clear of flammable debris. It worked well for the first roughly 10 times. Then, just like the first one, it started to require more and more pulls to get it started. 10, 20, 50. Today, after about 150 yanks, starting and then dying after 5 seconds or not starting at all, re-reading the manual, following the instructions (cleaned the air filter, cleaned the spark arrestor, cleaned the fuel filter, adjusted the choke repeatedly, etc.), I am giving up on Echo as a brand. We owned a small Echo blower for about 20 years and it eventually and sadly died. The present machine is not nearly of the same quality. I live on 7 acres and have a very long driveway that must be kept clean because it is steep with a great many large trees. Cars will slide if I'm not diligent. I must own a good blower because sweeping and raking are not an option. As with most products, buying excellent quality is less expensive in the long run, less frustrating, and more productive and leaf blowers are no exception. Unfortunately, Echo has apparently followed the same path of so many others: build an excellent reputation, then squeeze as much money out of the company as possible by cheapening one's products. They lost a good customer. Please try again later. Please try again later. JoleenG 2.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately, like many other reviews mention, these newer blowers go downhill in a hurry. It started, but wouldn't run at full throttle, and you had to play with the choke just to keep it going at all. Took it back and exchanged it for an identical model which they still carried. Same throttle issues, but this time you had to pull the chain at least 10-20 just to get some life out of it. I followed all of the troubleshooting methods you can find online. Took it back to H.D. to exchange again, only to find that they no longer actually exchange it on the spot. You had to send in the blower (which was a 3-week turn around time in off-season.but that's a different issue with HD) and wait to hear if the repairs were covered by warranty or not. I helped out the clerk by telling him I thought it was the carburetor based on what I was experiencing and all the online posts on the issue. Considering that this Echo blower has very few parts, why one of the major parts isn't covered in the warranty, or why the exclusions aren't notably called out on the box, is beyond comprehension. There should be big disclaimer in stores like H.D. about stuff like this if they want to keep any semblance of a good reputation. Please try again later. Please try again later.
