And notwithstanding the LAB's great resources, it pains me that to get this info I post here rather than call EAW.What you have to do is to try and make the most out of the particular setup and how it integrates with the rest of your system. Wth subs spread out, it is not so much the particular subs, but the physical locations that are going to drive what happens (sub wise) in the room. Now the particular subs and how they are powered will determine how loud it will get and how low. Without knowing exactly what they have (equipment wise) and the size of the room and what your needs are, it is very hard to guess whether or not they will do the job for you. Can I have some more talent in the monitors--PLEASE. Danley Sound Labs But there is no way to hear them until two hours before doors, and I am trying to figure out how much it will suck. Ed The rig is not setup for use with live bands and there is no way to get a spectacular mix in the room. It has four LA325s hung above a dance floor. They do 99.9 all DJ stuff and their rig is great for that. Anyways, I have mixes a couple times on it and there were no negative aspects to the boxes themselves. They easily go to 40ish hz. Danley Sound Labs The rig consisted of 4-DC2's 4-DC-6's 6-DCS2 in a club in Hollywood, CA. Luckily i went into this having full access to all DSP processing, so i could see what was going on behind the scenes. When i fired up the rig, the first time i noticed was there was way too much low end for a live show with full band, i believe there was a 6-8db boost in the 80hz range, and 6db boost at 120hz. I decided not to touch any of the processing for the house rig, and got it sounding pretty good with the 31-band graphic on the 5d.http://catskillpatriots.org/userfiles/crosley-refrigerator-service-manual.xml During soundcheck i was able to get a really tight punchy kick drum that is usually not a problem with most 2x18 boxes. I was also really pleased with the sound of the toms through the rig. I used a mic and a DI on the bass and was very happy with that too. My only issue was with the vocals, The rig ran out of mid range FAST. I ended up making it work, but I was at the end of the rig, which i don't like but the installer insured me that i could do no harm to the rig, and i could watch the limiters throughout the show. If i had it my way i would have brought it 6 DV's a side and a couple DV-subs and SB218's, or 3 arcs and 4SB218's a side. But all in all it was a successful gig, the client was happy, the crowd was happy, and all was good.They have a decent amount of punch and don't seem to get mushy if you lean on them. If they are loud enough for the room with a DJ, they'll probably do fine for you, not perfect but certainly usable. I used to mix occasionaly at a club that had those subs for live music, and they worked fine. Expect to do some EQ tweaking, but by no means dread what you're walking into. They go loud, and low. Not what we're normally used to, but they will do just fine with enough power. The LA400 is a pretty well-regarded live music sub. I too would be more worried about the tops. Can you say 'no midrange'. While it's in good condition and sounds nice, I have started having doubts about the double 10 inch mid section. They are two simple front loaded, straight horns. However I'm suspecting that they might be missing phase plugs.It has a metal grille at the throat with a small ( 10 -12 cm diameter) plate attached to it in the middle. This small plate seems to have a strip of some kind of adhesive on it. Behind the grille there seems to be some kind of displacement contraption to minimize air volume between driver and throat. It's narrowing to a vertical slot of maybe 10 -12 cm of width (have to measure this when I get a chance).https://congviendisan.vn/vi/bose-x-headset-manual Vertical expansion is very slight and constant IIRC. The higher crossover point of the mid horn is specced at 1,8 kHz. In the measurements I've taken, the midrange is drooping. Actually the response is sloping down from 300 Hz. At 2 kHz response is down 10-12 dB. What do you gentlemen think, could it be that the cabs have originally been fitted with phase plugs, maybe from a very light material, that have been just glued in, and fallen out later. Or does the blurb on the data sheet just refer to the displacement device in the throat. If the drivers have a back bowl like the ones you were servicing, there would be potential for a significant reduction in bulk for this mid section. I reckon they wanted to keep the same footprint with the subs to make the stack look neat.
