Changing to another Internet Service Provider, replacing your Wi-Fi router, or changing settings on your wireless router such as SSID (network name) or passphrase may create an error condition (86-883) when trying to connect your DVR to your wireless network. You may need to reset your DVR network connections to factory default. Once it finds your SSID, select your network name. If your network is secured, it will ask you to type in your password.Repeat these steps for FXS2 if it is in use. If you are unsure if your WAN IP address is public or private, contact your Internet Service Provider. If the WAN IP is not a public IP, it, and all internal devices connected to the router, will not be available to the outside world. Check if you can surf. Connect to 2.4 Wireless broadcast. Check if you can associate and can surf. The first default one was changed to a bridge (Step B) and bound to all the LAN interfaces. A second WAN interface for management only (step C) was then created. It’s your computer’s Microsoft operating system trying to set up WPS. ReadyNet does not consider WPS as secure as other security methods to protect your network so has disabled WPS by default. After selecting the network name (SSID) to which you want to connect, a small screen will pop up asking if you want to set up your network. Another screen will pop up asking for your passphrase or network key. Type in the passphrase shown in the user manual or on the label on the bottom of your router and click on “Connect”. Only use one Easy Jack base unit per home and the Easy Jack system will only work with one telephone line. Easy Jack base units in the same home will compete with each other, sometimes canceling each other out. They will generally transmit up to 300 feet. Moving the units to different electrical outlets may improve performance. Move the units to nearby electrical outlets that are not GFI. It does not have a switching power supply. The E200, EN200, EN500, and E4PS200 have switching power supplies. If you bought your ReadyNet router from Router Limits, it comes with Router Limits enabled. There are also several Internet service providers who are able to remotely enable Router Limits so you may want to check with your service provider. If Router Limits has not been enabled and your Internet service provider is not able to do this for you, you will need to log into the user interface (UI) of the router. Type 192.168.11.1 in the URL field of your web browser and log in with the user name and password on the bottom of the router. Once in the UI, follow these steps to enable Router Limits. Products designed to standards of the HomePlug Appliance broadcast in the 2-28Mhz frequency range. HomePlug Alliance standards apply to high-speed, broadband products usually associated with Ethernet connections. Because of this overlap in frequency ranges, HomePlug products can interfere with Easy Jack signals when the HomePlug products are broadcasting. Neither Easy Jack nor HomePlug products broadcast all the time. The E200, EN200, EN500, E4PS200 are HomePlug standard products. Easy Jack units do not usually interfere with HomePlug units because of HomePlug’s frequency hopping capabilities. If there is no dial tone, the problem may be with the wiring in your home or your telephone service provider. The LED on the base unit remains red until it is connected to an active phone line. It will start flashing orange. Then press the button on the extension unit. It should start flashing green. If so, the units are linked and you can press the buttons once more on each unit to take them out of programming mode. Sometimes quality can be improved by relocating either the base or extension or both to a different electrical outlet. Quality of the communication signal between units can be affected by what else is plugged in and operating in your home. Also, make sure the units are not in power strips or GFI outlets. Move the extension unit close to the base unit (in the same electrical outlet if possible) and go through the sync process (press button on side of base unit, then press button on side of extension unit).Electrical wiring impedance affects the units and will change depending on conditions in the home. For instance, a plasma TV emits enough impedance to disrupt the Easy Jack signal in the right circumstances. Even with dial tone and ability to use phone on the extension unit, there may be times when Caller ID may not display on your TV screen when your set-top box is connected to the Easy Jack. Verify that this option is selected. DISHCOMM is PLC technology that facilitates communication between multiple set-top boxes in one home. DISHCOMM units do not communicate with Easy Jack units. For the Easy Jack to communicate properly, an Easy Jack base unit and an Easy Jack extension unit must installed. Connecting the Easy Jack base unit to the RJ11 port on the service provider’s modem will then provide access to the telephone signal at any electrical outlet when using an Easy Jack extension unit. The PX211D is designed for data so if you want to use it for voice, you may experience some static on the line. The PX211V is designed for voice and may provide better voice quality. Release it when the Power light flashes. The password to E200C has just been erased. It must now be linked to your network to adopt the new network security key. The Power light on E200A starts to flash. If not, change and test for Internet. If no Internet, contact your ISP. Then test for Internet. If successful, you can change the network name and passphrase if desired. However, if you have phone service and DSL Internet from the same provider, the Easy Jack can be used for the POTS (plain old telephone signal) as long as your service provider has given you a DSL filter. The filter will separate the POTS signal so it can be used with an analog telephone device such as the Easy Jack. You will need to know the protocol (TCP or UDP) and the the port or port ranges that need to be forwarded. They will be displayed as shown below. Just follow these simple instructions. It will be connected to your Internet access point. Connect it to the Internet and make sure it can access and surf the Internet. Connect it to your PC or MAC by plugging an Ethernet cable into one of the LAN (yellow-colored) ports on the back of the router and into the Ethernet port on your computer. Second, it is not really intended for voice applications. You can use it for voice, but you will likely find it to be quite noisy. More about this later. Now, for what the Phonex PX211-D Easy Jack 2 is: Installing a new phone jack can be expensive or even impossible depending on your living space, presenting a problem for those who have purchased a new fax machine or other telephony device and have found that they have nowhere to plug it in. This is where the Phonex PX211-D Easy Jack 2 comes to the rescue. Using your home's electrical wiring, the Phonex PX211-D Easy Jack 2 allows you to have a phone jack where one currently does not exist. Pretty cool, right? Here's how it works: In your home or apartment, you have at least one working telephone wall jack. Connected to your telephone wall jack is a phone and maybe another telephony device (answering machine, for example). This is the jack that will provide the dial tone that you need at your PX211-D remote unit. The base unit takes that dial tone as input and sends it to the remote unit over your house wiring, where the remote unit passes it on to the telephony device that prompted you to go looking for this solution in the first place. Do not plug the unit into a power strip. 2. Unplug the telephone line cord for the existing phone from the wall jack and connect it to the PX211-D base unit's PHONE jack 3. Connect a new line cord between the telephone wall jack and the PX211-D base unit's LINE jack. The base unit is now installed and its LED should turn green. If it doesn't turn green, then it is not detecting your phone line. Remote Unit 1. Plug the PX211-D remote unit an AC wall outlet near the telephony device that requires a phone line. Do not plug the unit into a power strip. 2. Connect a line cord between your telephony device (e.g., fax) and the PX211-D remote unit's phone jack. If you prefer, you can start with an old corded telephone for testing purposes. The remote unit is now installed and will light green when it detects the base unit. At this point, you should have a dial tone at the remote unit. NOTE: This is for an installation involving a single remote unit. It is possible to have multiple remote units. Please consult the user's manual. Location, location, location: I am fortunate enough to have phone jacks in most rooms. Had it not been for a pesky mouse with an appetite for Category 5 cable, I wouldn't have even needed to buy the PX211-D at all, as I already had a wired jack in my office. But RoboMouse did do his thing and if I wanted to have my new Brother multi-function in my office, the PX211-D was my best shot at making that happen (aside from paying someone to crawl 50 feet under my house). So I ordered it. Where one installs these units seems to be important. If your experience is anything like mine, you won't be able to choose just any pair of electrical outlets and have this product work just because one is near an existing phone jack. In fact, I was stunned at just how many location combinations would either not work at all or would result in excruciatingly slow fax transmission. Ultimately, the base unit ended up in my bedroom. Changing the remote unit's location was a non-starter. The specific reason for this pickiness on the part of the PX211-D is unclear, but I have a theory. Each leg can be used separately to provide 120V or together to provide 240V. Your breaker panel is arranged so that the breakers on one side utilize one of the 120V hot legs, while the breakers on the other side utilize the other hot leg. If you choose base and remote locations that are fed by opposite sides of the breaker panel, you may run into trouble. Again, this is a theory, not necessarily fact. Voice: As I alluded to earlier, in many installations I suspect you will hear noise if you use the PX211-D for voice. How bad the noise is and how badly it interferes with data communications is something you will simply need to find out for yourself, as it will be different for everyone. In my case, there is quite a lot of noise. I am not using the PX211-D for voice, though, so I do not care about that. Caller ID: I did not experience any issues with Caller ID. It showed up on my Brother MFC-J5910DW exactly as it should. Distinctive Ring: I did not experience any issues with Distinctive Ring. Faxing: As I mentioned earlier, my first choice for location of the units was not ideal and the result was very slow faxing. After relocating the base unit to my bedroom, my experience changed dramatically. I do not know precisely what speeds the Brother's fax modem achieved during sending and receiving, but the difference was like night and day. Verdict: For data applications, the PX211-D is well worth the investment if your home's electrical wiring allows it to function as intended. Give it a shot. The worst that can happen is it won't work for you and you'll have to send it back. If you are considering this product for a voice application, I recommend you purchase a nice cordless phone instead.The way my new apartment is set up, I don't have the ability to keep my all-in-one printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine near the Magic Jack that I use for my phone and fax connection. I need to have a fax machine, so I was fretting over a solution other than running a loooooong cable across the entire room, which would introduce a trip hazzard. I keep my cordless phone near the Magic Jack connection, so I don't need any extension for that. The fax machine is what needed to be moved. You connect these units directly to the wall outlet and it will use the power signal in your home to link the signal between the units so it is the same as having an outlet extended. The units must be plugged into an outlet so that reduces flexibility abit because you have to make sure you have two direct outlet connections (one for each device) that are near each device you are connecting. Also the units are B-I-G and bulky. I wish there was a way that they could have made them smaller. This particular set is only for DATA connections and not for voice connections. So you can extend a fax line, but not a phone line. Also these are expensive given the limited functionality. All things aside, it worked exactly as it should. I have had no issues sending a fax with these devices, and I am using a Magic Jack connection and not a traditional phone line, so that is a big plus. I am glad I gave these a try, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs to create an extra solution for a fax line connection.My router is in my bedroom and my fax is in my home office, about 40 feet and one wall between router (IP phone jack) and fax machine. I was able to follow the instructions provided in the box and set the units up with ease. It does exactly what I need it to, which is send and receive faxes without having to install copper and jacks. NOTE: This unit (PX211-D) is specifically designed for data transmission, not voice. This unit produces static on the line which may not be acceptable for some if using for voice transmissions, but this works perfectly for the fax data transmissionNot suitable for voice! (They have another unit for that.) Dial tone has lots of static but fax can get around that. The setup is really simple: plug them in. The tricky part comes if you get a red light on one of the units. A red light on the base unit usually means there is no phone connection so that is easily fixed. A red light on the remote unit means you have no connection to the base unit. I tried several combinations of outlets with mixed results. My worse pair of outlets only seems to keep a connection randomly. Moving (the base unit) to a different room solved that. Don't waste time with a red light on the remote unit. If it works you get a green light almost immediately. If in doubt plug the remote unit in the same room as the base unit (you should definitely get a green that way) and then start moving it into nearby rooms, farther and farther. I am not sure I would recommend this for heavy fax usage. Given the amount of static I think (for my setup) it is just barely enough to allow a fax through (faxes have lots of error-correction). Faxes sometimes take longer that usual as a result. For light usage it is working fine for me. Contrary to instructions I did plug mine into a surge protected strip and did not notice any difference vs plugged into the outlet. There will be some interference added but it may not matter. If in doubt, try without. (hey, nice rhyme!). Use it with your Tivo, ReplayTV, Dish and Direct TV Satellite Receiver. Easy Jack simply plugs into an AC outlet for an instant phone jack. I bought this wireless jack in order to allow such operation but I was unable to dial out using the extended phone --The line tone was there but wouldn't connect with the outside world. Upon reading the user Manual I become aware that there are two versions of this model (PX-211d and PX-211v) one unit is used for data and the other for voice and data. Unfortunately I got the one for data only and not voice. The Internet description is generic without any explanation of such differences it gives the misleading impression that the unit will work in any application. I tried different phones to no avail and I proceeded to plan B this was to call the manufacturer customer assistance. All I got was a voice mail and a message saying we will call you later. I'm still waiting for a company rep to get in touch. I will return the unit and hope to get the right one or change manufacturer.
