The lawnmower only seems to cut with the left half of the blades and throws all cuttings to the left--with at least half of them thrown in front of the mower or over the left side of the grass catcher, missing it altogether. I have to stop every couple of minutes to pick up what hasn't made it into the grass catcher. The grass catcher is very shallow and came with no way to attach it to the base of the mower. I've had to improvise. In addition, parts of my lawn ends up looking rippled instead of evenly cut, even when I raise the height to cut very little at a time. This product is really zero stars, not even one star.We've had it for a few months now and it cuts grass ok. I have to give it a 3 though, because it does little to nothing on tall weeds. If by some miracle a weed is cut down it almost immediately wraps itself around the blades and a non moving part making the mower no longer move. While gas-powered reel mowers are still around, many of them are large, tractor-powered vehicles intended for the upkeep of sports fields and farms. Most reel mowers feature two primary wheels on a single axle with either a bar of rollers or a set of smaller, secondary wheels in the rear. The applied force moves down the handle, pushing the mower forward on its wheels. As the axle turns, it sends a pair of gears spinning. The first gear has a larger diameter than the smaller pinion gear. When a larger gear passes its rotation force, or torque, onto a smaller gear, the torque increases. The spinning reel may look impressive, but it doesn't actually cut the grass on its own. All the cutting of the grass takes place where the spinning edges meet the stationary cutter bar in the rear of the mower. Think of it as the point of contact between the two blades of a pair of scissors.
