To clean, open the ser vice door at the front by pulling the handle (fig. 14), remove the drip tray (fig. 15), empty and clean. Empty the grounds container and clean thoroughly, making sure all residues deposited on the bottom are removed. IMPORT ANT: when removing the drip tray, the grounds container MUST be emptied, even if it is not com- pletely full. If this is not done, when next making coffee the grounds in the container may exceed the maxi- mum level and block the appliance. NOTE 8: while the appliance is delivering coffee, never remove the water tank. If it is removed, it will not be possible to make the coffee and the appliance will display: GROUND TOO FINE ADJUST MILL AND INSERT WATER SPOUT AND PRESS OK To turn the appliance on again, you must insert the water spout (fig. 4), press the button and run off water from the spout for a few seconds. If the appliance malfunctions, do not contact the ser vice center right away. The appliance is now re-programmed with the new settings and displays: READY. 8 REGULA TING THE COFFEE MILL The coffee grinder is preset in the factor y to prepare cof fee correctly and should not require regulating ini- tially. However, after making the first coffees, if you find that coffee deliver y is either too fast or too slow (in drips), the grinding coarseness regulator can be adjusted (fig. 12). Tu r ning it 1 click (1 number) clockwise speeds up cof fee delivery (without drips). Tu r ning 1 click anticlockwise slows down deliver y giving a creamier appearance to the coffee. These adjustments will only be evident after at least 2 cups of coffee have been delivered. The grinding coarseness regulator must only be turned when the cof fee mill is on. Tu rn one click anticlockwise to obtain slower deliver y and a creamier appearance (finer ground coffee). Tu rn one click clockwise for faster deliver y (not a drop at a time) (coarser ground coffee). (Coffee has been used to factor y test the appliance and it is therefore completely normal for there to be tra- ces of coffee in the mill. This appliance is however guaranteed to be new). NOTE 1: Never add the ground coffee when the appliance is of f to avoid it from being dispersed inside the appliance. NOTE 3: When dosing the quantity of coffee to be added, use the measuring scoop supplied only. T o stop the flow, press the button. Once the set quantity of hot water has been reached, deliver y stops automatically. NOTE 1: While preparing the cappuccino, milk or coffee deliver y can be interrupted by pressing button. NOTE 2: If you run out of milk while delivering the milk, remove the container and refill it. Then put it back in place and press the button to request a cappuccino again. Y ou should not leave the milk outside the refrigerator for more than 15 minutes. Cof fee deliver y stops and the quantity is memorized. The appliance is now re-programmed with the new settings and displays: READY. 15 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Before perfor ming any cleaning operations, the appliance must have cooled down and must be disconnec- ted from the outlet power supply. Never immerse the appliance in the water: it is an electrical appliance. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaning products to clean the appliance. A soft damp cloth will suffice. The infuser, grounds container, water tank and drip tray must NEVER be washed in the dishwasher. 15.1 Cleaning the coffee maker Clean the grounds container (as described in section 6, note 7) whenever it requires emptying. The water tank should also be cleaned regularly. The drip tray is fitted with a level indicator (red) showing the level of water it contains. When the indicator starts to become visible (a few millimeters under the drip tray), the drip tray must be emp- tied and cleaned. Check that the holes in the coffee spout are not blocked. To unblock them, scrape the dr y coffee residues away with a needle (fig. 27). Support Pin Infuser Push the PUSH symbol fully in until it clicks into place. After having heard the click, check that the red buttons have snapped out. Bottom pipe on the infuser. The pin must be inserted into the bottom pipe on the infuser. NOTE 1: If the infuser is not inserted correctly until it clicks into place and the two red buttons have not snap- ped out, the ser vice door cannot be closed. Descaler runs off from the hot water spout into the container below.Empty the water tank, rinse, fill with clean water and run off a cup of hot water. If necessar y, this period of operation can be extended, making descaling less frequent, by programming the appliance based on the actual lime content in the water used.Attempting to remove the infuser with the appliance on will risk causing damage. Then clean the infuser and the insi- de of the appliance (see description in section 11.2) PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION LIMITED W ARRANTY What does the warranty cover. We warrant each appliance to be free from defects in material and workmanship. Our obligation under this warranty is limited to repair at our factor y or authorized ser vice center of any defective parts or part thereof, other than parts damaged in transit. In the event of a products replacement or retur n, the unit must be returned transpor tation prepaid. The repaired or new model will be returned at the company expense. This warranty shall apply only if the appliance is used in accordance with the factor y directions, which accompany it, and on an Alternating current ( AC ) circuit. How long does the coverage last. This warranty runs for one year ( 1 ) from the purchase date found on your receipt and applies only to the original purchaser for use. What is not covered by the warranty. The warranty does not cover defects or damage of the appliance, which result from repairs or alterations to the appliance outside our factor y or authorized ser vice centers, nor shall it apply to any appliance, which has been subject to abuse, misuse, negligence or accidents. Everybody loves the machine because of its simplicity and ease of use. Lot of people just use the frothed milk only feature as well. The cleaning is simple as well. The only note of caution is that for lattes or cappucinos (i.e., when you use frothed or steamed milk), the drink does not come out too hot. You can adjust the temperature of the coffee by making a few settings, and the temperature is fine for normal use, but still you can not get an extra hot latte. At times when I want that, I just put my coffee filled cup in the microwave for 10-15 seconds and the problem is solved. I would also like to recommend people to set the appropriate hardness level using the test described in the manual. I did not do that at first and ended up decalcifying far too often. Also do not use warm water wherever possible. Bottomline, this is a highly recommended super automatic espresso machine for not just residences but even small companies.Please try again later. We had an extended warranty and took it back TWICE (first time the guy said he fixed it but didn't) and it immediately started degrading in quality again. I have written the company to know avail. I don't want to take it back to the local service center because the guy was very rude to us everytime we've dealt with him. Anyway, exect great coffee for a while, then expect it to break and not get good service. UPDATE: After a few months I was able to get a hold of the company and they repaired it free of charge and gave me an extended warranty. Right after that wore out the machine broke again.
