When the comput er exits hibernate mode, it r eturns to the same operating state it was in before entering hibernate mode. NOTICE: Y ou should not remove devices while your comp uter is in hibernate mode. Y our computer enters hibernate mode if the battery charge level becomes critically low. T o e xit hibernate mode, press the power button. The computer may take a short time to e xit hibernate mode. The battery’ s internal circuitry prevents the ba ttery from overcharging. When you connect the computer to an electrical outlet or insta ll a battery while the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the computer checks the battery charge and temperature. If necessary, the AC adapter then char ges the battery and maintains the battery charge. If the battery is hot from being used in your com puter or being in a hot env ironment, the battery may not charge when you connect the comput er to an electrical outlet.The battery is too hot to start char ging if the light flashes alternately orange and green. Disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet and allow the computer and the battery to cool to room temperature. Then connect the computer to an electrical outlet to continue charging the battery. Replacing the Battery CAUTION: Before performing these procedures, turn off the computer, disconnect the AC adapter from the electrical outlet and the computer, disconn ect the modem from th e wall connector and comp uter, and remove any other external cables from the computer. NOTICE: Y ou must remove all external cables from the computer to avoid possible connector damage. CAUTION: Using an incompatible battery may increase the risk of fire or explos ion. Replace the battery only with a compatible battery purchased from Dell. Do not use a battery from other co mputers with your computer. T o r emove the battery: 1 Ensure that the computer is turned off. 2 Slide and hold the battery-bay latch release on the bottom of the computer, and then lift the battery from the bay.
