Plus, the DWL-2100AP is fully compatible with the IEEE 802.11b standard, so it connects with all existing 802.11b-compliant devices. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Allen 4.0 out of 5 stars As with most of the D-Link products, you get what you pay for. FYI, the default password is admin, the password is blank, and the default IP is 192.168.0.50. I had to look it up online due to the incorrect url included for the manual and lack of manual in the box. Change these settings as soon as you get it. Pros: SNMP capable so you can monitor traffic and other statistics (if you're into that). It came with the latest firmware already installed. Multiple modes - I use mine as a repeater to extend range, but it also has bridge settings, a setting to be a wireless adapter to a non wireless device, access point, etc. Cons: No manual included. It has a sticker with a url to go to for instructions, but it's the wrong product url that doesn't contain the manual.pdf download. Once I went to the site, this product is listed as near end-of-life.http://peakpartners.com/data/contax-1-instruction-manual.xml

That would have been nice to know for anyone that uses support. The antenna on this thing (and all other D-Link devices I've ever bought) is plastic at the elbow and can break easily. Not so bad if you plan mounting it though. Another con on any D-Link device, any changes you hit 'apply' for on each page will go ahead and reboot the device to make the change. Very annoying when you need to wait for 5 reboots to change the password, change the IP settings, change the wireless settings, configure SNMP, and configure security. It arrived in a USPS plastic bag rather than a box. Luckily the plastic antenna arrived unscathed. However, be sure to update the firmware or the AP might not work correctly. When I first received it, configuration was easy enough but it had trouble working with my Netgear and HP Centrino notebook. Both notebooks will get a signal and even connect be failed to obtain an IP address from my network's DNS server. A firmware upgrade solved the problem and the AP now streams TV realibly from my living room to the kitchen. I noticed that there is are hordes of wireless APs around my house, I guess most neighbours are using some form of 802.11 wireless as well. However, this D-Link AP is able to function correctly abeit all the other APs around (2 using the same channel as mine I've found). Overall, recommended if you want a good AP. Just be sure to update the firmware. Now if I want to use the bluetooth on my phone, I have to unplug all this stuff;(. VERY ANNOYING!!! Installation took 3 hours with 2 different reps. D-link customer service is outstanding, by the way. Also, my download speed seems to be limited to 75 kbps on the WAP end. Upload is more than double that, which is wierd. Looks like I need another few hours on the phone with tech support. Bottom line.works kinda well when you actually get it set up. However, getting it set up can be an exercise in patience.http://www.donovaly-ubytovanie-safran.sk/web/userfiles/contax-137-manual.xml Expensive for the speeds I'm seeing:(I was online with their tech for days spanning three weeks of hell. I would spend an hour with a tech only to find out that the access point would not work with my router. I purchased what I thought was the correct access points and stayed online with tech for two days. After two days, they said that this access point would not work with my router. Finally, we were able to key in on the right product and I spent all afternoon and into the night with it. Still would not work. All the PC magazines I have read rated the DLink as the best on the planet. I buy as much as I can with Amazon and just ordered a networking system by Linksys. I hope to God this system works. Never been so miserable in all the years with anything PC related. If you are busy and cannot take the time to be on the phone for three weeks with tech, do not buy Dlink.Satellite devices were not being assigned their own IP addresses as part of the wireless network. I wired an ethernet cable (50ft.) and am using it as an access point with a different channel and network name than my d-link router. This eliminated the need to extend the Antenna's wires inside. It also eliminated considerable loss we would have encountered in running longer antenna wires. The units have worked flawlessly since install. Our daytime high temperatures were 100 degrees max, winter low temperatures have been -20 degrees. We are operating at the minimal power setting for the AP-2100 without suffering throughput, put there is no way of verifying this. If I could have one more feature, it would be some sort of signal strength indicator, along with some way of testing for data throughput. Nevertheless, I would recommend a similar installation to anyone needing to bridge two LAN's together. We have just purchased a third DWL-2100 as a backup because we've gotten quite hooked on the system and would now be distressed if it should go out (due to lightning, etc.https://www.becompta.be/emploi/bose-personal-amplification-system-manual) So the the third unit is a backup, still sealed in its origional box. These routers work great together with each other over long distances. The stock firmware works well enough but is pretty bare bones (dd-wrt would be great, but no dice yet).Couldn't be easier to set up; simply plug it in and away you go. The only downside is that these access points don't seem to last more than 18 months before inexplicably dying so I have to keep a spare one just in case.I don't know why they can't make home wifi that lasts I'm now on my 5th unit in less than 10 years. Not happy at all with the longevity of this product. Alle sonstigen Marken sind Eigentum der jeweiligen Rechtsinhaber.Am besten dient ein angefeuchtetes Tuch zur Reinigung. For Enterprise networks, the DWL-2100AP supports network administration and real-time network traffic monitoring via D-Link's D-View Network Management software. The DWL-2100AP features WDS (Wireless Distribution System) that can be configured to perform in any one of five modes: a Wireless Access Point, a Point-to-Point (PtP) bridge with another DWL-2100AP, a Point-to-Multipoint (PtMP) bridge, a Repeater for range extension, or as a Wireless Client. The WDS feature makes the DWL-2100AP an ideal solution for quickly creating and extending a wireless local area network (WLAN) in offices or other workplaces, or even at hotspots. The DWL-2100AP Wireless Access Point comes with a detachable antenna utilizing a reverse SMA connector. By simply attaching a D-Link wireless antenna, you can increase the wireless range of the DWL-2100AP. Wireless security is addressed as the DWL-2100AP Wireless Access Point uses WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and 802.1X authentication to provide a higher level of security for data communication amongst wireless clients. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction, and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate. Notebooks based on Intel Centrino mobile technology do not support proprietary 802.11g performance-enhancement features. Dominik September 6, 2020 These days, routers come so packed with features that they’re oozing out of the LAN ports. So why would you want a bricky-looking D-Link device on your table when you already have a router cluttering it? For one, the DWL-2100AP Wireless Access Point can function as a Wi-Fi range extender in case you’re unable or willing to get a standalone one. Most routers can cover Wi-Fi inside a home well enough, but anything beyond that and the YouTube video starts loading real slow-like. Yes, those still exist. Yes, those are still in use. And if you’re using one, you probably don’t want to switch to a newer model, making this device pretty handy. There’s plenty of other features, such as bridging, connection monitoring and so on. You bet it is. Yet, for some reason, the manufacturer didn’t include the D-Link DWL-2100AP manual with one of the most complex devices in its line. We can’t guess as to why. Maybe they figure whoever’s using it is tech-savvy enough to talk to electronic devices? D-Link themselves don’t have it on their site, almost as if they’re daring the users to find the instructions. We love a challenge, so we went ahead and found the real D-Link DWL-2100AP user manual and uploaded it to our direct download site. You’re one click away from figuring out how to configure this pesky thing. Unfortunately, the access point's setup guide and user manual are too technical for computing beginners, and you can't use the device as a bridge between non-D-Link-brand wireless routers or switches. The D-Link DWL-2100AP also costs more than other access points, such as the Netgear WG602, as well as most full-fledged Wi-Fi routers. This router also includes a couple of nice touches: The first is a removable antenna that bends at a 90-degree angle and rotates in a 360-degree circle, helping you extend your range into specific spots. The rubber stand allows you to set the device upright, elevating the antenna a few inches and perhaps expanding your coverage area even farther. Brackets on the DWL-2100AP's underside let you hang the device on the wall, as well. Two small nails should be sufficient, since the pocket-size box weighs just 0.4 pounds. The guide starts out by advising you to assign a static IP (Internet Protocol) address to the computer you'll be using to configure the device. In the Windows XP section, the guide describes the process under the OS's Classic View. However, XP's default appearance is Category View, which looks and acts slightly different. Unless you know enough about Windows XP to switch views during setup, you'll get lost. Other oversights, such as the guide's dual reference to the device's RJ-45 jack as an Ethernet port in some places and a LAN port in others, may further confuse novices. The user manual provides a somewhat perfunctory explanation of each section that will do little to enlighten newbies. On the game field of wireless access points, the D-Link DWL-2100AP is one of the more flexible players. You can use the DWL-2100AP's configuration tool to set it to one of five modes: plain AP, AP client, signal repeater, point-to-point bridge between two wired LANs, or a WDS (wireless distribution system) between two Wi-Fi LANs. Unfortunately, the WDS option works only if you're using two D-Link-branded devices with this feature. Another AP competitor, the Netgear WG602, works only with other Netgear devices in both its WDS and repeater states. The handy app detects the access points on your network and lets you manipulate their IP addresses and security settings, all within a single control panel. The D-Link DWL-2100AP's speedy performance rivals that of the fastest access points and wireless routers around. But you'll get those fast speeds only if all of the D-Link devices on your network are equipped with the Atheros chipset. For wireless testing, the clients and the routers are set up to transmit at various distances from the access point and to automatically select the best transmission speed. All tests are run with Chariot software using TCP and are run in CNET offices over channel 1. Our tests indicate the range that you can expect in a typical office environment, but the range in your own home or office may differ. You may be able to achieve better performance in situations where you can establish a clear line of sight. For more details on how we test networking devices, see the CNET Labs site. D-Link does a respectable job with the DWL-2100AP's service and support. The device ships with a three-year warranty, which is two years longer than the terms of most other access points, such as the Linksys WAP54G. Around-the-clock, toll-free phone support lasts for the length of the warranty. The company also offers a fairly full-featured support Web site that includes firmware downloads, a knowledge base, and a FAQ list.Asus' latest RT-AC68U will fit the bill.Let's round up some of its best movies.
