Searching for y our code If your device does not respo nd to the remot e contr ol af t er tr ying all code s listed for your brand, or if your brand is not listed, tr y searching for your code. The remote sends IR codes from its library to the selected devic e, starting with t he most popular code first. If the device responds, go to Ste p 8. 7 If the device does not respond, press CH and the rem ote tests th e next code for that device type. Contin ue to pr ess CH until the device tur ns off. 8 Now that y ou have found the corr ect code, press SET to save the code that worked for your device. Checking the codes If you have set up the remote using the pr ocedure in “Searchi ng f or your code” on page 11, you may need to fin d out which five- digit cod e is operat ing your eq uipment. T o find out which c ode is assigned to your STB (for ex ample): 1 Pr ess STB once. 2 Pr ess and hold SET until the re d LED blinks twice, then rele ase. 3 Enter 9 9 0. The LED blinks twice. Cauti on Do not expose the remo t e control to liquids, direct sunlight, or shock. Using learning This universal re mote con trol includes a learning featur e so you can add functions that are unique to your home entert ai nment devices (such as VCR T racking Up or Down). The feedback LED stays lit for three se conds, indicatin g that the rem ote is re ady to le arn. 6 On the origina l remot e, press an d hold the butto n to be learned. Continu e holdin g the button on the origi nal remot e until the Insig nia ’ s LED bl inks twice. 7 Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to program another button. Once you have complete d pro grammin g all the b utton s you want, press and hold SET un til the LE D blinks twic e to sav e all data lear ned. Deleting a single lea rning b utton This process r eturns the button to its original programming for the m ode you select. Y o u can also delete lea rned programm ing by teaching a differen t functi on to the but ton (see “Program ming a Learned button ” above). T o delete a single learn ed button: 1 Pr ess the mode bu tton that you want t o remov e the l earned bu tton from. 2 Pr ess and hold SET until the LED blinks twic e, then release. 3 Enter 9 7 6. The LED blinks twice. 4 Pr ess the butt on cont aining the learned function t o be delete d, twic e. Th e LED blinks twice and programming ends. Deleting all learned buttons in a specific mode T o delete all learned buttons in a specific mode: 1 Pr ess and hold SET until the LED blinks twic e, then release. 2 Pr ess 9 7 6. The LED bl inks twice. 3 Pr ess a mode b utton twic e (for example, TV (should TV be deleted her e?), STB, or AU X ) to clear all t he learned buttons f or that mode. T he LED bl inks twic e and p rogr amming en ds. Note If the LED d oes not blink, the code digit is 0. Note Have y our original remote contr ols handy before program ming learning. Note If more than 10 seconds pas s between button presses, the r emote exits progra mming. If the L ED displays on e long flas h instead, replace the batteries. If the remote control continues to display one long flash, the remote contr ol cannot learn a new button. Note If the red LED displays one long blink, a learning error has occurred. T ry repeating this step again until a successfu l capture occu rs. If the fun ction is s till not captured, press and hol d SET to exi t pro gram min g and review the Precautions” above.
