dodge challenger manual transmission problemsThe most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out theConsumer writes in regards to transmission issues. The consumer stated there appeared to be a recurring issue with the transmission sticking between shifts as well as becoming stuck after park. After doing some research, the consumer discovered the problem was due to excessive grease on the input shaft splines collecting excessive amounts of dirt, which did not allow smooth movement of the clutch disc on the input shaft.A commercially available low cost component disables this feature, however it requires the consumer to void their manufacturer warranty in order to fix a safety defect. It doesnt happen every time, mostly first thing in the morning, or at higher RPMs. I took it to the dealer twice and both time it couldnt be duplicated. (according to them) one of the mechanics even drove with me, and of course it didnt do it. I think when its warmed up it shifts easier. Has anyone experienced this or heard of this issue. Same thing happens to me. Lately I’ve just been taking off in 2nd. Usually you can feel it coming on and I just try to jump to 3rd right away. Or 5th or 6th? Or sticking in gear when parked. Not like you missed a gear. Coming out of second is smooth, not other issues in any other gear. Would and ODB scan pick anything up. I usually just start in 1st and skip 2nd. I don't want to say it grinds but getting into third feels like you are jamming it in coarsly sometimes and it is intermittent and usually is smoother at the higher RPM.http://www.gabident.pl/local/userfiles/canon-430ex-manual-pdf.xml

It also sometimes difficult to remove it from gear and return it to neutral when I leave it parked. The car drives fine otherwise but I am sure it is a problem waiting to unfold. Also, do you have the skip shift installed. You could be on the cusp of being forced into fourth gear. I guess its a eco-mode thing. Basically if I downshift and try to rev match but don't push the shifter all the way into 2nd (and I mean really push, that gear has the shortest shift ever) then it grinds. It'll sit softly instead of the good, snug shift as usual. I've installed the Barton shortthrow shifter with skip shift eliminator and anytime I go into second, I get a disturbing clicking noise, not like the grinding you say you hear. Would also like to know if any others are in the same boat with these aftermarket installs and have a similar issue. I believe it's due to the clutch fluid being more viscous and slowly disengaging the clutch. I sometimes double clutch it for the first minute or 2. (clutch down pull it out of gear, clutch up then back down, put it into gear) Some people say doing the clutch delay valve delete fixes the issue others change the fluid. Mine has been nibbling in 2nd for a few minutes on very cold days since the beginning. I wish dodge would recognize it or do something to fix it. All rights reserved Back to top. Which transmission would we choose if it were our vehicle? If price is the most critical aspect in your transmission choice for a Dodge Challenger, you’ll have to dig deeper for your vehicle. An automatic Challenger Scat Pack weighs just 7.5 pounds more than one with a manual: 4,239.8 pounds versus 4,232.3 pounds. Manual transmissions aren’t necessarily more fuel-efficient or lighter than their automatic counterparts as they once were in older vehicles. And what about availability of the Challenger’s two transmission options. Chances are, you’ll be able to find and get behind the wheel to drive one or the other without too much trouble.http://www.lev-interier.cz/data/canon-430ex-speedlite-manual-pdf.xml According to Dodge spokesman Jiyan Cadiz, 60 percent of Scat Packs come with the automatic transmission and 40 percent with the manual. The heavy clutch pedal and long shifter throws are a chore to move quickly in the Dodge. Power isn’t planted very cleanly with the manual, either, and while using its horsepower to rev up the rpm and leave patches of rubber in 2nd and 3rd gears on the cold track was fun, it definitely left a lot of time on the table. The Scat Pack auto’s eight gears keep the engine revs high up in the power band during spirited driving. Rarely does the transmission drop below its happy place — unlike with the manual, where sometimes you’re in no man’s land and have to downshift. The automatic has a way of making seat-of-the pants acceleration feel like the Challenger is lighter than its 4,200-pound curb weight, which is quite the accomplishment.Even without the hiccup, though, he’d still take the manual Challenger. Sure, you can do that with the automatic, but if you put it in Neutral just to do that, you feel like an ass.” In line with Cars.com’s long-standing ethics policy, editors and reviewers don’t accept gifts or free trips from automakers. Also upon acceleration from a stop, the transmission seems to stick and once it finally moves, it bucks several times before evening out. This has happened many many times and 95 of the time it is while making left hand turns. The problem has nearly caused an accident a few times as I was not able to accelerate while crossing oncoming traffic. This car has been to the dealer about 5 times (next appointment is tomorrow), yet there has been absolutely no resolution because they refuse to do anything until there is a code for them to read. Harsh downshifts whenever you let off the gas.http://www.bouwdata.net/evenement/40-hp-johnson-outboard-motor-manual It feels like the car is about to come to a stop without ever pressing the brake. Consistent noise in the rear of the car that seems to coincide with the shifts and especially downshifts. This started happening about a month after I bought the car new. When slowing to a roll 5 mph or less, then trying to accelerate, the gas pedal does not respond until to push down harder, then you get a really harsh shift that pushes you forward then everything is fine. The dead pedal feeling happens from a dead stop as well but mostly in sport mode. A couple times when I tired to accelerate quickly, the transmission just disengaged and bucked a few times, then picked back up. Mostly this was going up or down a hill in the summer with the air conditioner on. The transmission seems to downshift(gives less power) in response to pushing the gas pedal down at times. Sometimes when accelerating the transmission feels like it is slipping. I went to one dealer in DE and dropped off the car but they wanted to re-schedule stating they were too busy to get to it. I then went to another dealer and drove it with a foreman and he said it needed a software update. The update changed nothing. Went back to same dealer and another software change recommended but it also changed nothing. The car is more jerky than ever, and I really baby the thing. Plus I get a combined 16 mph under extreme light throttle and mostly highway driving. I'm thinking I should be getting at least 18 combined given how slow I drive and that it's mostly highway at only 65. I think the trans problem may be causing the poor mileage. I will call the dealer and try dropping it off.Giving this heavy jerk as it occurs. After it warms up, the problem goes away and the car shifts smoothly. Also, I randomly experience a hard downshift when braking for a stop light every now and again. I brought the vehicle in to the dealership, but they said everything checked out fine.http://easytransferbrazil.com/images/bsa-thunderbolt-650-manual.pdf I guess I will have to try and run it over first thing in the morning when it occurs. It is very frustrating since this is a brand new vehicle and I am concerned this is causing unnecessary wear on my transmission. Contact us with any comments or concerns. The car when parked is on a flat surface and you need to yank it out of gear when the car is running. If you back up the car and try to take it out of reverse you have to yank it out of gear. This occurs on both cold and hot start up as well as when driving or stopping during in town driving. This creates a dangerous situation in that the driver could inadvertently roll into an intersection where they do not have the right of way, another vehicle, pedestrian or building. Using our friend google I have researched this issue and it appears from discussion on multiple forums that it is a known issue for my and other model years. Two case numbers from the manufacturer seem to indicate that there is a procedure for correcting this issue. Case numbers are K38556860 and S1021000004. The case numbers are not recalls and I have never been notified of the issue by the manufacturer. Best guess is this issue started sometime in 2016, exact date unknown, vehicle mileage is estimated. Due to the nature of the possible dangerous situation I feel this must be addressed to the manufacturer and possibly made into a recall of all vehicles affected to accomplish the remedy as described in the attached cases. The vehicle is dead and will not start. The vehicle shut down with no warning. This has happen several times.http://www.cdscabling.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1629169370ede9---7940-cisco-manual.pdf The local Dodge dealer had it 2 weeks an could not determine whyThis is at a stand still. Upon first getting into the car. This happens nearly everyday now for approximately, 4 months. I now back into my parking spot. Also, at high speeds, its getting difficult to shift as well. Gears are grinding as they go into gear. Most recently was Saturday March 18th 2017. I was on interstate 5 in Oregon. Heading home. Grinded every gear as I shifted. I engaged the clutch all the way on every shift and it still grinded its gears.Sometimes double clutching it doesnt helpOil light comes on intermittent no codes, oil level checked, gas was good. Dodge rejects there's an issue, from dealers to the top. Please help! we don't trust our cars!Bad grease on the input shaft and clutch hub splines. These issues led to clutch failure. Slave cylinder blew out and clutch fluid leaked out of the lines.I would have to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and restart it to drive the vehicle. Luckily this didn't happen when trying to pull out into traffic as it would have a high tendency to create a collision. Transmission code for the input speed sensor and after researching it online, I found a mass number of complaints and repairs about this issue. It appears to be a mechanical defect that needs to be dealt with by fca and NHTSA due to the common occurrence is these vehicles. It started back in Nov 11 when traveling out of town, got stuck in traffic and clutch started to not disingauge all the way (would creep) had to hold foot on brake or put in neutral even after pulling off the road. Latter when coming home baked into parking space turn key off wanted to put in other gear was very hard to pull out of reverse. Has gotten worse, it is getting harder to shift while driving. My wife went to get on the highway and had very hard time going into lower gear almost getting hit in the rear.fameyang.com/archive/upload/files/cannon-marlin-downrigger-manual.pdfDodge says worn clutch, but it doesn't slip, but they have a notice about grease being on input spline thats the clutch slides on getting dirty from to much grease and dirt, making the disc stick not fully disengaging. This is a manufacturing defect, assembling line defect not mine. Been to two dealers and ask 4 about the problem.Chrysler addressed the issue as excessive grease on the input shaft splines collecting excessive amounts of dirt which did not allow movement of the clutch disc on the input shaft. Please reference vehicle issue trans is hard to shift into gear. It may be difficult to shift in and out of gear. Recommendation;repair this condition by removing the transmission, cleaning the transmission input shaft splines and the clutch hub splines, regreasing, and putting all the same parts back together. The clutch should be removed from the flywheel to properly clean the clutch splines, because it is not possible to thoroughly clean the clutch splines otherwise. Do not use harsh spray solvents (brake clean, etc.) on the clutch discs.Mineral spirits or similar will get the job done. Both of the clutch hub splines and transmission input shaft splines must be carefully cleaned. The flywheel does not need to be removed for this repair. Saw this happen yesterday with difficulty shifting out of first on an incline. Enough people are seeing this problem that a recall must happen. This can affect the transmission at speed.Steering and brakes compromised. Shifted into neutral while in traffic.has been occurring more and more frequently. Dealer reports cannot replicate. Sounds just like the recalled GM's.Dodge never issued a recall. There are threads all over the internet that show as many as 50 of the tremec 6060 6-speeds were affected, but unless you took it to the dealer by chance, or happened upon a forum, you were out of luck. I recently took my car in due to problems shifting.http://ophirtonhotel.co.za/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/16291693a0bb61---7940-manual.pdf The throw out bearing and Pilot bearing were fused to the input shaft causing it to warp and damage the transmission. This is exactly why Dodge had the star case number issued. So, they declined my claim.I pulled over and tried to crank it and nothing. Called a wrecker and they took me to the parts house to get a code checked and it said camshaft position sensor. I bought one and took it home and replaced it and still nothing. You could see that the timing chain had broke through the hole where the sensor went. Over a few weeks I had to replace the timing chain, plastic guide and tensioner (they gave me metal parts as a replacement), hsd to remove the heads and replace all valves because they were bent, had to find and replace broken a valve guide. This was caused from what I was told by the plastic parts wearing out and Chrysler is quietly replacing them as people bring them in, I fixed my own and kept receipts and all broken parts. They are also saying it is a harmonic issue with the mds either way I called and made a claim with Chrysler and they tried to deny it was common. I have found that it is way more common than are saying and they just don't want to have a recall. I feel like I got ripped off and they are advertising a product that doesn't last, the car only had 70K and hasn't been driven very hard.Fortunately, traffic wasn't too bad, so I was able to safely pull over to shoulder without getting rear ended by the cars that were traveling at very high speeds. Soon thereafter, I had my 2009 rt Dodge Challenger towed to the dealership, apparently, the timing chain broke. It doesn't end there, not only is this vehicle fairly new, but I attempted to fix it already on multiple occasions, but it seems as if nothing helped. Currently my vehicle now has acquired engine damage as a result of the dealership being unable to properly diagnose and address these issues, for lack of knowing what the real issue was all along.https://www.sahabatkeluargahomecare.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162916949efe0a---7940-cisco-ip-phone-manual.pdf In all honesty, I feel as if they need to recall the timing chains on the rt Dodge Challengers before more people end up in my situation, or worse. It started back in Nov 11 when traveling out of town, got stouck in trafic and clutch started to not disingauge all the way (would creep) had to hold foot on brake or put in neutral even after pulling off the road. My wife went to get on the hiway and had very hard time going into lower gear almoast getting hit in the rear.Dodge says worn clutch, but it doesn't slip, but they have a notice about grease being on input spline thats the clutch slides on getting dirty from to much grease and dirt, making the disc stick not fully disengaging. Been to two dealers and ask 4 about the problem. They informed me that a PCM update was available, based on technical service bulletin (tsb) 18-014-10. This update changed the engine calibration id from 05187899ae to 05187899ag. Ever since this update was performed, the vehicle has a significant (and unsafe) throttle delay while in gears 4-6. basically, when the throttle is depressed, it takes about 2 seconds for the engine to respond. This has resulted in several near-collisions, during times where acceleration is expected to avoid an unsafe road condition but the vehicle fails to respond in a timely manner. To demonstrate the problem, you could actually rapidly pulse the throttle repeatedly without having any engine response at all. As of this date, no PCM update has been released to correct this unsafe condition.I had it towed to a dealer they replaced the valve body and map sensor. The car has stalled a few days later and is now at another dealer. They can't seem to find the problem and I don't want to put I 3 kids in the car till I know its fixed. It seems to stall in different conditions (hot, cold, moving, when first started, etc).Contact us with any comments or concerns. Looking for something lighter. Automatic transmission fluids are naturally thinner and are naturally red or green in color. Manual transmission fluid or gear oil is thicker due to additives and alternative compounds crucial to lubricate the gearbox and alternative components. Manual transmissions have a higher friction environment due to the way gears are changed, thus the lubricant is distinctive. Automatic transmissions generate a lot more heat and thus the fluid in your transmission must be changed more naturally. If you don’t change your 2020 Dodge Challenger transmission fluid, your transmission will have broken metal shavings and alternative corrosive material spread throughout the meaningful components of your 2020 Dodge Challenger. You should naturally check the fluid levels between your fluid and transmission flush service intervals. In many cases, manual transmissions don’t come equipped with a dipstick to check your fluid levels, so it can be extremely troublesome to do. Call or visit Bill Estes Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram for more information if your transmission doesn’t contain a dipstick. But as things change year to year, new designs are implemented, and new tech emerges, a vehicle will never be exactly the same from one model year to the next. From best to worst, here’s the one model year to stay away from. In fact, there’s one model year that plainly stands out as the worst of them all. Not only does the 2012 Challenger receive the most owner-reported complaints by far, but Car Complaints experts also rank it as worst based on other factors like repair cost and severity of problems as well. But electrical problems aren’t owners’ only problems, with 11 complaints about brakes, seven about interior accessories, five about the body or paint, and five about the windows or windshield. The model years with the most-reported problems in the category other than the 2012 model year include both 2011 and 2013 model years. The 2012 Challenger receives 22 reports of electrical problems, while 2013 receives 20 and 2011 receives 14. Across all model years, the worst-ranked, most-severe problems fall into this category. More than 110 reports have been made about transmission shift quality issues, while 20 reports claim noises occur while steering at low speeds. But with Car Complaints’ numerous reports of electrical problems, there seems to be a good correlation. While the 2012 model year currently holds 65 complaints, some model years seem to be less troublesome. This is except, of course, for the 2018 and 2019 model years, which are newer models and less likely to be experiencing problems yet anyway. Not-quite-new model years 2016 and 2017 fared well, with 12 and nine owner-reported complaints, respectively.
