FCC Requirements Means of Connection: The Federal Communications Commission (F CC) has established rules which permit the Strata DK system to be connected directly to the telephone network. Connection points are provided by the telephone company— connections for this type o f customer-provided equipment will not be provided on coin lines. Connect ions to party li nes are subject to state t ariffs. Incidence of Harm: If the system is malfunctioning, it may also be disrupting the telephone network. The system should be disconnected until the problem can be determined and repair ed. If th is is n ot done, the t elephone company may temporarily disconnect service. The ringer equivalence number (REN) is useful to determine the quantity of devi ces which y ou may connect to your telepho ne line and still have all of those devices ring when your number is called. In most areas, but not all, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed five (5.0B). T o be certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line, as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company to ascertain the maximum REN for your calling area. 4. Program 30 Overview Program 30 Station Class of Service System Programs Program 30 enables or disables features for individual telephones at the station level. The following text describes Program 30 LEDs. You can set a warning tone for Privacy Override (see Program 10-2). Be sure to read this information before attempting to use a program with your system application. Type of function the program performs. Can be: Initialization, Test System, Station, Toll Restriction or Least Cost Routing. Default configuration set by Program 91-9 “System Initialization” when the system is first installed or re-initialized. Additional details on the program features that were given on the system record sheet. Keystrokes for entering data from system record sheets follow a pattern, consisting of a five-step process described and illustrated in “Program Sequence” on Page 1-13. Provides a list of available features. The sheet is used to record the assignment of features or the operation of each program. Each sheet provides space to record data. LED 04 does not apply to Call Forward or V oice Mail ID DTMF tones sent to voice mail ports. (See Pr ogram 10-2, LED 06, for tones sent to V oice Mail ports.) 03 Dial Pulse Make Ratio 33 40 02 0.45 or 1.5 sec. per Program 42-0 CO Line Re-seize guard time 0.45 CO line guard time is the time interval the s ystem requires to release a CO line and reseize it.Also, T wo -line Confer ence must be allo wed for DISA, CF- EXT, and DNIS e xternal routing use o f outgoing lines. CO l ines must be enabled for tande m connectio n with Program 15, Code 5. LED 19: Conference Gives st ations the a bility t o enable (LED 19 ON) or disab le (LED 19 OFF) a ny Conferen ce. LED 18: Ring Detect Ti me Sets nor mal ring de tect ti me (LED 18 ON). LED 17: Station-t o-Station Call V olume P AD ON reduces statio n-to-st ation ta lk path volume (-8 dB). LED 17 sh ould be OFF in al l cases except where ext reme quiet room noise is expe cted. LED 16: BRI Standard or Non-in itializing T erminal Determine s the initi alization pro cess for BRI lines conne cted to t he ISDN network. A nor mal sequ enc e is f ollow ed if this is tu rned O N. I f it is OF F, no in itiali zat ion seque nce is nee ded. LED 12: Automatic Busy Redial (ABR) Cycles If act ivated from an electro nic or dig ital te lephone, ABR re tries di aling a t elephone number on a line if a far end busy s ignal is detected. T urn LED 12 ON to have the sy stem try up to 10 times; turn OFF for up to 15 at tempts. LED 1 1: ABR Redial T ime Upon detec ting a fa r end busy sig nal on a li ne, ABR will ret ry either onc e every 30 seconds or once ever y minute. T urn LED 1 1 ON for 30 seco nds; turn OFF for on e minute. LED 10: System Speed Dial Override, T oll Restriction System Spee d Dial can be chosen to ove rride T o ll Restr iction if LED 1 0 is turned ON. This featur e can be di sabled on a system-wi de basis. Any station can pick u p an Exclusi ve Hold cal l by using th e call pi ckup code. In e ither ca se, Call Pi ckup will f unction fro m any stati on.The tr ans ferr ing sta tion may releas e a transfe rred call before the ca lled part y answers. If not al lowed, the syst em will allo w supervi sed trans fers onl y—the cal led stat ion must an swer befor e the transf erring s tation rel eases. If Ring T ransfer is not allowe d, immediate recall o ccurs if “blind” t ransfer is atte mpted. The system deni es Ring T rans fer to station s in the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode, and immediate recall will occ ur if at tempted. LED 06: CO Line Repeat Ringing If selec ted, the incomi ng ringing timi ng pattern at a station will be th e same as the CO line ring ing patter n. This is used mainly with Centrex or PBX systems whi ch may vary t he ring patt ern to distin guish between i nternal and external i ncoming calls, etc. If S tanda rd Ringing is chosen, CO line st ation ri nging wil l cycle one se cond on, three sec onds of f regardl ess of the incoming r ing patter n. This ri nging opti on may be undes irable f or some COs. LED 05: Incoming Call Abandon T iming The amount o f time between incoming CO li ne ring s ignals deter mines when t he system will discont inue (aba ndon) sendi ng ringin g tones to station s. The choic e of six or ei ght second s depends o n the line ring pat tern. This assignment has no ef fect if the Line Repeat Ringi ng (LED 06) opti on is used. See Program 1 0-2 for st andard t elephone po rt DTMF timing. This program pe rtains t o manual di aling or s peed dial ing from al l T oshib a telepho nes, with t he followi ng excepti on. When dial ing manuall y from 2000- series t elephones, signals la st as long as the butt ons are pr essed (mi nimum 80 msec.). LED 03: Dial Pulse (DP) Make Ratio Dial Pul se timing sent out to CO line s can be changed from the no rmal 40 make ra tio to 33 . This sel ection on ly applie s to those CO lines as signed in Program 15 t o signal d ialing wi th dial pulse i nstead of Dual-tone Multi-fr equency (DTMF). LED 02: Line Reseize Guard Time Should be set for 0.45 secon ds for most installat ions. S et guard time for 1.5 sec onds (usin g Program 1 0-1, LED 02 ON, an d Program 4 2-0), if CO lines experie nce the following situat ions: no dial t one when a line i s relea sed and res eized immedi ately; or, when operati ng behind Ce ntrex or PBX, false hookflash signals a re sent t o the CO when s tations rel ease and r eseize th e same lin e imm ediat ely. For T one First, repet itive Di rectory Nu mber ring t one is sen t in a one- second on, t hree- seconds o ff p attern.
