I'll try leaving the external pwr connected for a while, maybe a cap got discharged or something that supplies pwr to memory. It's a mystery, have had other hts do this but they always had a lithium battery that supplied pwr for memory. 73 MarkThere most common use is in computers for the clock memory backup. After testing radio with battery instead of hooked direct to 12volts, I notice a fully charged battery only runs ht for a couple minutes, full-pwr tx kills it instantly. So something else is up as well with pwr circuit coming from battery. Works fine on 12volt external pwr, but still resets to default after turning off. 73 MarkUnfortunatly no one has the service manual for the DJ-G5T so they can't even wager a guess as to where it may be located or what may be taking it's place. The next step might have to be contacting Alinco and asking them where is the battery or what takes it's place. As for the battery pack going dead after a few minutes of TXing. How old is the battery pack, there may be a dead cell inside the pack. The voltage may look good after charging, but a dead cell will cause the pack to drain quickly and most HT's have a voltage sencing circut that will shut down the radio after the battery voltage drops below a certian voltage.
