But the TV did, and gave me a very long list of codes to use and instructions on how to configure it, which involved putting the selector switch to TV (Not DTV). The TV never gave me any static over the original RC65. Anyway, after several attempts and some frustration that this remote wouldn't work with my STB, I reluctantly let the TV give me some help. I entered the very first code offered up by my TV, and it worked. I set it back to DTV, and it worked. This is the only IR remote that does not lag, so it is obviously controlling the DirecTV STB. Go figure. We have two other Samsung universal IR remotes, and both have horrible lag. Just be prepared for the possibility that this remote will not work with your DTV STB out of the box, even though it is a direct replacement for the one you are using.
