If you were to glue it on, would that prevent a person from gaining access to the inside of the door. If not, you should be able to glue it on, if further informatiuon eludes you. You could even spot tack glue it so you know you could pop it back off in the future if for some reason it covers some important part. But I doubt it does. I am thinking this simply is a false front. If a gluing method is chosen you could even use silicone caulk as that has excellent bonding, where when initially stuck on, it holds. I have even stuck panels up to ceilings and left go and they do not fall off. It will never get crumbly and fall off in the future. I have even used it to 'glue' on small pieces of trim (that might split with a nail), and I push it against the wall and it stays, for keeps.
