digitech hendrix manualSince the first time the world experienced Jimi Hendrix, things have never been the same. The pedal was created using the original masters at Electric Lady Studios in association with Eddie Kramer, the original recording engineer. Eddie Kramer, Jimi's engineer at Olympic and Electric Lady Studio, was an essential part of the Hendrix sound. Who better to help recreate those timeless tones than the man who set up the original mics and ran the mixing board adding his own magic. Working with DigiTech and our proprietary Production Modeling technology, he helped rebuild each facet of Jimi's tone, from guitar effects and amp to the vintage outboard signal processors. But it gets even better. Thanks to Eddie and the Hendrix family, we were able to use the original tapes as a reference source for our Production Modeling technology. Designed with the help of hendrix's guitar tech man. Very good condition, just a few very minor signs of use. Complete wth box, manual, and purple bag. The adapter is brnd new, a quality one from effects pedal supplies designed for this pedal. UTILIZATION The configuration of the DigiTech Jimi Hendrix Experience pedal is pretty basic as it four knobs that each have a few uses. The first knob has an upper and lower and dial for gain and level while the other two have dials for four different types of controls. The knob all the way on the left is to choose the mode, which there are seven to choose from. Each mode is different tone modeled after specific Hendrix tunes. The manual for this pedal is pretty thorough but is easy enough to use that you don't really need it. SOUND QUALITY The sound quality of the DigiTech Jimi Hendrix Experience pedal is overall very good. It has a wide array of different tones as it has seven very different modes and plenty of parameters over your tone control. I usually use this pedal with a Fender Strat or a Gibson SG plugged into a 1976 Fender Twin Reverb amp and I'm always happy with the results I get for recording or live shows. While the tones on this pedal aren't exact replicas of the classic tones played by Jimi, they are definitely pretty close and accurate. Regardless of if they are exactly replicated notes or not, they definitely sound pretty great no matter whether you are trying to emulate Jimi's sound or not. OVERALL OPINION I've been using the DigiTech Jimi Hendrix Experience for about a year and its not only a unique and great sounding pedal but is extremely fun to play around with. If you are a fan of Hendrix, which just about every guitar player is, this pedal is a worth a try. The different modes and parameters make it versatile and its awesome to be able to replicate so many different Hendrix tones in one pedal. I think DigiTech did an overall great job with this pedal and it is a must try for any Hendrix fan. 2 of 2 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no. The various pedals and processors needed to recreate it (the playing is a different matter!) have always been around if you look hard enough, but it is only recently that software developers have tried to bring all the elements together in a single package. Perhaps the most high-profile product has been the Digitech Jimi Hendrix pedal, developed with Eddie Kramer, who engineered all those classic Jimi tracks, and IK multimedia have done a similar thing in software, working with Authentic Hendrix, the official family-owned company.https://drpatoconnor.com/images/brewers-association-draft-quality-manual.pdf IK Multimedia have developed presets for just about every section of every classic Jimi Hendrix track, and because the software is based on their existing Amplitube 2 (which incorporates IK's Dynamic Saturation Modelling), you can tweak all the controls on the amplifiers, stomp boxes and rack processors, to fine-tune the sounds to match your own guitar and playing style. In fact, you're not even restricted to using the software as a plug-in, as it also works quite happily as a stand-alone application (which means you can take your laptop on the road or into the studio to use as a virtual guitar system). The most important components of the Hendrix rig, including processors that were used in the studio, have been modelled: you get all the original vintage stomp boxes used on the classic records, the correct amplifiers and speakers and a choice of how those speakers are mic'd. In all there are nine vintage stomp effects, including emulations of the legendary Tycho Brahe Octavia and the watery Uni-vibe, a Vox Wah, the Univox Uni-Vibe, a Maestro Fuzz Tone and some Roger Mayer fuzz boxes. You also get a rack of studio processors from the era (Rotary Speaker, Stereo Reverb, Parametric EQ and Tube Compressor). Oddly, though, I couldn't find a delay unit anywhere — and I'm sure tape delay was used on the solo of 'All along the Watchtower', at the very least. That there are four amps will surprise some people, as Jimi Hendrix was strongly associated with Marshall amplification, but he also used Fender and other US amplifiers in the studio and on tour. Models of the Marshall 1959 JTM100 Super Lead, Fender Twin Reverb, Fender Bassman and Dual Showman amps are provided, and IK Multimedia have gone to great lengths in the name of authenticity. The cabinets were apparently fitted out with the original vintage speakers, then recorded with five different microphones of the type that would have been used at the time, including capacitor, dynamic and ribbon models.http://thanhlamresort.vn/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162870f3c49a57---cadillac-srx-manual-transmission.pdf Eight buttons allow you to arrange the signal flow in different ways through two parallel chains, and there are separate, tabbed windows for accessing the amps, cabinets, stomp effects and studio gear. If you can't figure out what Jimi was playing, there's even an included speed-trainer audio player, with pitch and speed control, so you can slow down the tough bits. Also included is a demo version of RiffWorks, Instant Drummer REX Player and a selection of effects, courtesy of Sonoma Wire Works. You also get in excess of 250MB of Sonic Reality's R.A.W. Rock SE drum loops and grooves in REX and WAV format. To access them, you can navigate via album, track and then section of track. In many cases there are two or more different sounds for the verses and solos. After that you can tab around the windows to tweak the controls. All your edits can be saved, and controls may be automated to the extent that your host software permits. The reverbs, in particular, are very evocative of the original records, though, as with most amp-modelling plug-ins I've tried, the sounds don't quite seem to come across sounding like a mic'd, loud amp, which is what you expect to hear on a Hendrix track. It's different if you play the software via a real amp and speakers, as that helps recreate some sense of energy, but with the plug-in you have to work quite hard to create the impression of straining speaker cones: 'Purple Haze' just doesn't sound as angry as when played through an amp on the edge of destruction. Gentler songs such as 'Little Wing' and 'The Wind Cries Mary' fare rather better. Though it impinges on the way the instrument feels when you play it (a real amp somehow feels more 'springy'), you can still put together some convincing Hendrix-style sounds. The stomp effects are excellent. Even the notorious Tycho Brahe Octavia is realistic. This effect used a crude full-wave rectifier and some high-cut filtering to create a distorted note an octave above the one you were playing.www.dsnjl.com/userfiles/files/canon-650d-manual.pdf It has a very odd touch response and when you first try it it feels as though it's broken — but that's actually how it's supposed to work. Being able to configure two chains of amps and effects also enables you to set up some wonderfully complex guitar sounds. As I opined earlier, the studio reverbs work particularly well, though I'm still puzzled as to why there's no tape delay. Though obviously attractive to Hendrix fans, Amplitube 2 is one of the better amp and effect emulation packages on the market, and this version is also flexible enough to use for just about any electric guitar style. Paul White The answer is two new Boss pedals that emulate those amps. The FDR1 models a Fender Deluxe Reverb, complete with reverb and tremolo, and the FBM1 models the classic Fender Bassman. Both models come with Fender's blessing. Like all digital pedals, these ones are pretty hungry on power — an Alkaline battery should get you through three or four gigs (providing you remember to unplug the guitar when you're not playing), so the PSU will save you money in the long run. Remember, though, that if you switch the PSU off when the guitar is plugged in, the pedal will switch to battery power and drain your battery! The output from the DSP is then converted back to analogue, before being sent to the output jack. There's no built-in speaker emulator, as the pedals are designed to feed a guitar amp or combo, but you can easily use them for recording by feeding them through a speaker-modelling plug-in, with either a clean amp model or no amp model selected. Drive simulates the effect of power-stage distortion (the original Fender Deluxe Reverb had no master volume), which means you should be able to get the true 'pushed' amp sound at sensible volumes. The two tone controls are designed to work (and interact) as they did on the original amplifier. The Tremolo is a simple amplitude-modulation effect for all those 'surf' sounds, but it also has some hidden functions.https://baharemadinah.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162870f4f1c304---cadillac-srx-navigation-system-manual.pdf If you just turn up the Tremolo depth using the control knob, the modulation gets deeper, but the speed is fixed. To change it, you need to get into a special mode that entails holding the pedal down. In fact, there are two setting modes that allow you to dial in the modulation speed manually. Alternatively, you can tap it in using the footswitch. The modelled spring reverb is accurate, to the point of modelling even those artifacts that many players didn't like at the time (such as the tendency for the spring to sound 'twangy' or 'splashy' when you pick hard.) As spring models go, this one is so convincing that you'd swear you could get it to twang by kicking the pedal! Piling on the drive brings in some dirt, but only to a relatively modest degree. With single-coil pickups, you can get that jangly 'Hey Joe' kind of distortion at higher gain settings, while humbuckers saturate a little more, adding a gritty bark to the sound. This is pretty much the same setup as the original amplifier and there are even Normal and Bright input jacks, just as with the original. A textured mustard paint and brown pedal-rubber give the pedal a nice 'tweed' look, in contrast to the black crackle-finish paint used for the FDR1. For me, this pedal has more of a useful tonal palette than the FDR1, as it covers similar 'clean' ground but has more range when it comes to overdrive (though it lacks the reverb and tremolo, it has additional Middle and Presence tone controls). At low drive settings you get that distinctive, bright edge to the sound, and adding more gain brings in a nice gritty overdrive, balanced by a lower-mid growl, which works well for blues. You can go beyond this range but, for me, the tonality when heavily overdriven isn't so appropriate for rock playing as it is from some other amps — those 'just over the edge' blues sounds are where this amp emulation scores well.https://www.marthatrotts.ca/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/162870f6d4a05d---cadillac-sts-2008-manual.pdf The end result, though, will always be a hybrid of the sound of the pedal and the sound of the amp that you plug it into. A dual-width pedal, with an extra gain and level control and a channel switch, may have proved a more versatile option. As it is, the best option is to set the clean sound you like on your own amp and then use the FDR1 or FBM1 as a sort of glorified overdrive pedal — which isn't really using the pedals' strengths as effectively as they might be. Of course, these concerns apply mainly to live applications, where this sort of instant control is a big deal. It isn't such an issue if you plan to use the pedals in the studio, as they sound excellent and you can easily stop and change settings between takes. This is the only piece of gear that I’ve ever had a truly “love-hate” relationship with. The sounds it produces make it far and away my favorite pedal of any that I have. But I hate it because, unlike any of my other pedals, you have to stomp on it REALLY hard to engage it and disengage it (a design defect, not just a fluke with mine), which does not lend itself to being able to just take off to some higher spiritual level and forget about the world for awhile. Especially if you play sitting down like me, you’re dragged mercilessly back to reality every time you need to get the thing to come on or off. Not that it’s ALWAYS hard to engage. Its only somewhat saving grace is that, with Digitech’s FS-3X footswitch connected to it, you can at least easily switch between the different tones that it offers once you’ve got the Hendrix pedal on. My passion and disdain for this pedal are so great that, after years of dealing with the aggravating stomp situation, I finally put it up for sale on EBay, then pulled it before anyone could bid on it, then finally went through with selling it, only to come back three weeks later and buy someone else’s. So can it help you get a cool Hendrix-y sound. Basically, it’s the closest thing to a “magic box” that I’ve found musically, and yes, you have to work quite hard to not sound amazing using this pedal. So having just been blissfully reunited with this pedal, I’m still in the second honeymoon phase with it and as such, I’m currently focused on all the things I love about it. Would I recommend buying one? Yes. If you love Hendrix’s sound, or even stuff like WolfMother, nothing beats it. Read full review by therealbadbob 22 Aug, 2010 HENDRIX APPROVED!! FIRST OF ALL ---- DOWNLOAD THE PDF MANUAL FROM DIGITECH IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT ALREADY. I made the mistake of returning this pedal once because I thought it was dead. I couldn't get it to make a sound.I had a digitech beginner type pedal when I first started playing and I was disappointed but digitech seriously kicked ass with this one. IT COMES WITH 7 DIFFERENT SONG TONES --- wind cries, voodoo, purple haze, etc. Each one is a specific song's tone with the toe switch as rhythm guitar and he el switch as a burning lead.a couple of settings have multiple heel tones also. Two tones come with WAH capabilities (solo and rhythm wah). Go to any preset like Voodoo Chile for example -- not only is this a ballsy tone but you can customize it to sound more like you or more like hendrix. The foot switch is essential for this type of pedal design as you can toggle up and down through each of the seven settings AND, once you're in a setting, step on another toggle switch to engage the front or toe settings. My only beef is that it outputs in stereo only in the Little wing solo mode. Not bad all under one hood at that price. Each parameter of each signal chain model can be tweaked to take the basic Hendrix sounds into other directions. One of the best bags for the buck I've ever gotten. Read full review by cindy958 23 Jul, 2012 For Hendrix fans this pedal is a must. However you need to add one thing This is the greatest pedal I've used in my 35 years of playing as a full-time pro and as a (shutter).hobbyist.(gasp). You want to sound like Jimi through just about any amp setup or even by running this direct into your computer or PA? This pedal will do that for you. Whether or not you own an overpriced tube amp or a good solid state amp, it doesn't matter. Of course being able to play like Hendrix is a different story. It can't play your guitar for you. But even if you only know a couple chords, those chords will now make your socks roll up and down your leg. Just about every review I've read agrees that this is a great sounding pedal. So what's the problem. Why doesn't everyone give it 5 stars. Here's the one and only common complaint. Many of you out there are having trouble en gaging the heel button. For whatever reason, many of the JHE pedals that were sold were returned because of the heel button being difficult to push down on. You had to put a lot of pressure on the back of the pedal, and just at the right spot to get the button underneath to engage, right. Some of you bitterly tried to ignore the problem, and then got real frustrated, bounced the pedal off of your bedroom wall and then couldn't return it because it looked too beat up. Some found out the hard way that if you push too hard, you might break the treadle. Sure, many people have actually broken it and I've seen the pictures and read the complaints. I've seen people sell JHE pedals on EBAY with the treadle broken in half. This was definitely a design flaw concerning the treadle position and the rear button location, but some pedals are worse than others for getting the button to properly activate. If the rear button doesn't work, you can still use the pedal, but you miss out on a few very cool effects and that's just not acceptable! You will never have to stomp on the Jimi Pedal ever again. You can easily switch modes and toggle up and down through the settings with ease all day long! Now you can just use the Jimi pedal for the wah wah or expression effects only and keep it in mint condition. They are very common because they work on many different pedals. There's nothing complicated about this FS3X extension pedal, so don't worry about getting a used one. It is very, very basic and probably even easy to make. There's just three buttons and some wires. This has a nice case and is well made. It's plenty rugged enough for nightly stage use. If you like the Jimi Hendrix Experience pedal, it's crazy not to get the accessory FS3X foot-switch. It makes the JHE pedal a breeze to operate and it keeps your beloved Jimi pedal from getting any wear and tear. Life is too short, get the Jimi Hendrix Experience pedal and the accessory FS3X foot-switch and be happy. Woodstock lives! Read full review by jamespatrickhod. 28 Sep, 2017 This paddle is the bomb it does so many variations and combination of effects both subtle and extreme that it just stands out from all the other pedal I love this paddle the fact that it has seven sets of options and it has to lead tones for each one of the seven sets gives you a lot of options and possibilities to create sounds that would take a mountain of equipment to create and of course it definitely duplicate the sound of a 100w marshall lead stack which is priceless in itself if you don't have one. You can change the settings on it to get your own sound but the options available from it surpass all the other pedals that I have I love this pedal. It has all the classic sounds but then you can combine them and create your own sound which we very difficult to do without a mountain of equipment it's nice to just have the one pedal it has all of these variations in it. I've seen complaints from people about how hard you have to push on it in order to trigger the pedal but if you have the DigiTech extension pedal the FSX 3 that ends that issue completely it's a really easy to use pedal. When it arrived I ended up playing it for about 11 hours before I had some idea of what I could create with it it still leaves lots of room for the imagination and of course combining it with other pedals it raises your options to a whole nother order of magnitude. I actually bought two of these pedals from eBay I got one for a friend and he also totally loves it. Cancel Thanks, we'll look into this. All Rights Reserved.
