Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness. Because analog design requires both intuition and rigor, each concept is first introduced from an intuitive perspective and subsequently treated by careful analysis. The objective is to develop both a solid foundation and methods of analyzing circuits by inspection so that the reader learns what approximations can be made in which circuits, and how much error to expect in each approximation. This approach also enables the reader to apply the concepts to bipolar circuits with little additional effort.Click continue to view and update your selected titles.See tabs below to explore options and pricing. These Analog to digital Converters can read voltage from analog sensors like Temperature sensor, Tilt sensor, Current sensor, Flex sensor and much more. So in this tutorial we will learn how to use ADC in MSP430G2 to read Analog voltages using the Energia IDE. We will interface a small potentiometer to MSP board and supply a varying voltage to an Analog pin, read the voltage and display it on the Serial Monitor. But, let us spend some time in understanding the ADC module in the MSP board so that we will be able to use it effectively in all our upcoming projects. In order to interact with these analog changes, the microcontroller uses a module called ADC. There are many different types of ADC modules available, the one used in our MSP is the SAR 8 channel 10-bit ADC. This type of ADC uses a reference voltage (which is variable) and compares the input voltage with the reference voltage using a comparator and difference, which will be a digital output, is saved from the Most significant bit (MSB). The speed of the comparison depends on the Clock frequency (Fosc) on which the MSP is operating. Here the term 8 channel implies that there are 8 ADC pins using which we can measure analog voltage. The term 10-bit implies the resolution of the ADC. 10-bit means 2 to the power of ten (2 10 ) which is 1024. This is the number of sample steps for our ADC, so the range of our ADC values will be from 0 to 1023. The value will increase from 0 to 1023 based on the value of voltage per step, which can be calculated using the below formula If you are not aware of interfacing the LCD then fall back to the link above and read through it, since I will be skipping the information to avoid repentance. The complete circuit diagram of the project is given below.http://vdgairconditioning.nl/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626ffe6a9f720---boss-be-5m-manual.pdf In that potentiometer one extreme end of the potentiometer is connected to the Vcc and the other end is connected to Ground. The centre pin (blue wire) is connected to the pin P1.7. This pin P1.7 will provide a variable voltage from 0V (ground) to 3.5V (Vcc). So we have to program the pin P1.7 to read this variable voltage and display it on the LCD. Similarly, we can find the respective channel number for other pins as well. You can use any pins from A0 to A7 for reading analog voltages here I have selected A7. In this program will read the analog of value and calculate the voltage with that value and then display both on the LCD screen. The complete program can be found at the bottom of this page, further below I am explaining the program in snippets to help you understand better. These define to which pin of MSP430 the LCD pins are connected. You can refer you connection to make sure that the pins are connected respectively This calls the library which contains the code on how the MSP should communicate with the LCD. This library will be installed in the Energia IDE by default so you need not bother adding it. Also make sure the function Liquid Crystal is called with the pin names that we just defined above. I am not getting in much deep since we have already learnt how to use LCD with MSP430G2. As we discussed already the microcontroller is a digital device and it cannot read voltages level directly. Using SAR technique the voltage level is mapped from 0 to 1024. These values are called the ADC values, to get this ADC value simply use the following line To do this we have the following formulae The reference voltage is equal to the voltage at which the microcontroller is operating. When the MSP430 board is powered via USB cable then the operating voltage is 3.6V. You can also measure the operating voltage by using a multimeter across the Vcc and ground pin on the board.kimwendelldesign.com/ckfinder/userfiles/files/contrec-202a-manual.pdf So the above formula fits into our case as shown below Once we have calculated the ADC value and voltage, all that is left is to display the result on the LCD screen which can be done by using the following lines Finally we give a delay of 100 mill seconds and clear the LCD screen. This was the value will get updated for every 100 mils. Just make the connections as shown in the circuit diagram. I have used a small breadboard to make my connections and used jumper wires to connect the breadboard to MSP430. Once the connections are done mine looked like this below. You should be able to see the intro text on the LCD, if not adjust the contrast of the LCD using the potentiometer until you see clear words. Also, try pressing the reset button. If things work as expected then you should be able to see the following screen. Let us verify if we are measuring the voltage correctly to do that, use a multimeter to measure the voltage across the centre of the POT and the ground. The voltage displayed on the multimeter should be close to the value displayed on the LCD as shown in the picture below. Now we can interface many analog sensors with our board to read real time parameters. Hope you understood the tutorial and enjoyed learning it, if you have any problems please reach out through the comment section below or through the forums. Let’s catch up in another tutorial of MSP430 with another new topic. Things You Should know as an Engineer. Basics of semiconductor physics. There is also a concern that parts of the revised manual will still be quite prescriptive, and don’t support the move towards risk-based decision-making that the industry is aiming at. This system was developed by specialist supplier CACI working with Highways England to facilitate the review process, but it has also been set up with future-proofing in mind. Future revisions will also be much more straightforward, he predicts. To read or download the HDM files you need the Adobe. Acrobat. Reader, version 4.0 or higher installed on your computer. The Highway Design Manual, originally issued in July 1972 and March 1973, has been revised over 70 times. Old versions are available through the link to the HDM Revision Log. It is also frequently referred to in the scoping stage and preliminary design phase and occasionally referred to for some construction issues. The context for the HDM includes the following points. Consequently, some changes to the design guidance may be issued via Engineering Instructions and may subsequently be incorporated into an HDM revision. Designers are advised to check not only the most recent revision of the relevant HDM chapter, but also the subsequent Engineering Instructions that may relate to the subject of interest in order to determine the current guidance on a given subject. It generally does not govern the design work performed by county and municipal designers, unless they choose to adopt it as their design guidance. However, while the HDM is generally aligned with the guidance in those documents and occasionally refers to them, where there is differing guidance, the HDM should be considered the governing document. The manual is a companion document to the overarching Highway structures design guide which provides general and specific design criteria for all highway structures. The manual has been developed by the NZ Transport Agency for use on state highways or for the design of other new or replacement bridges proposed for funding from the National Land Transport Fund (NLTF). Use of the manual on other highways, including private highways, may be considered appropriate with the agreement of the relevant road controlling authority, client or landowner. Structures technology is an area of ongoing research and refinement and the manual is reviewed from time to time to incorporate important corrections and amendments. The Bridge manual was first issued by Transit New Zealand in May 1994. The second edition was published in June 2003. This third edition, the first to be released wholly by the Transport Agency, was released in May 2013. The Bridge manual commentary is an informative commentary that provides background to various sections of the Bridge manual. It will be added to as appropriate. The Bridge manual and Bridge manual commentary can be downloaded from the links on this page and be reproduced for personal or in-house use without formal permission or charge. Note that the copy of the manual supplied will be current at the time of purchase but no further updates will be supplied. Updates will be available via this website. Implementation of amendment 3 Amendment 3 to the Bridge manual (3rd edition) may be implemented immediately. For existing highway projects, confirmation should be sought from the Transport Agency, or the relevant road controlling authority for non-state highway schemes, whether this amendment may be used or works should still be undertaken in accordance with earlier versions of the Bridge manual. The requirements of clause 4.2.1(f) for the design of reinforcement couplers and anchorages have been updated to align where possible with NZS 3101 amendment 3 and the requirements of ISO 15835 for couplers and ISO 15698 for anchorages. Some time is likely to be required for manufacturers to be able to demonstrate compliance with the new requirements. Note: The layout and format of this document are modelled closely on the UK Highways Agency s Introduction (Document ). A modified version, the National Roads Authority Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (NRA DMRB) is formally introduced for use in Ireland from 2001. 3 The DMRB provides a comprehensive Manual system which accommodates, within a set of loose-leaf volumes, all current standards, advice notes and other published documents relating to the Design, assessment and operation of trunk Roads (including motorways) in the United Kingdom. It has developed from a number of separate series of documents previously published by the Overseeing Organisations of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. These documents, together with later additions, have been gathered together in a consistent series of volumes within the Manual to help in meeting the requirements of quality assurance procedures. 4 The NRA DMRB takes the DMRB and adapts it for use on national Roads in Ireland through a series of implementation documents. These take the form of NRA Addenda to the individual documents contained in the DMRB and, in some cases, complete replacement NRA Standards. At present the NRA DMRB only implements the Design standards contained in Volumes 1,2,4,5,6,7,8 and part of 9 of the DMRB. This Introduction provides information on the use of the Manual for the Design of national road schemes in Ireland.
