Parts-People began as a small company 17 years ago in an extra bedroom of my house. I had saved a small sum of money to purchase some computer parts and began selling them on eBay. After a few months I realized that people needed a place to go for Dell parts so I began building our website. Since we are located in Austin, Texas, where Dell.com was founded, I was able to set up a solid supply line with Dell. From the start, we focused on customer satisfaction and selling quality parts. We have grown a lot since 2002 but still and always the customer will come first. You will find that we go above and beyond with every order and offer free resources and support before and after the sale. This system is notable for being the first Haswell business laptop released, but has multiple known problems - including AMD GPU failure. You might not need every tool for every procedure. The adapter must be replaced when it happens, but it is possible to get by while you wait. Wait for the blue ring to die out. Plug the power adapter into the wall. Plug it back into the laptop. This only works a handful of times before it no longer helps and stops charging entirely. IGP models are safe, but came with the 768p screen only for normal buyers. AN EX CORPORATE IGP MACHINE MUST BE PURCHASED WITH THE FHD SCREEN IF YOU WANT THIS UNLESS AN iDP BOARD AND SCREEN IS INSTALLED. In addition, MQ models will all run hotter then M variants due to the 10W TDP differential. Most systems do not run at their true potential due to this design flaw, as many use the MQ processors and they are known to throttle. This is out of reach for most people due to the average cost of the job. It is generally cheaper to get a refurbished motherboard without a programmed service tag programmed to fix the issue. If you are buying one of these systems used, AVOID AMD Radeon 8790M variants due to this serious design flaw. Quality thermal paste helps, but delays the failure. Many of these are likely already starting to fail unknowingly. Replacing the keyboard is almost completely unavoidable unless the system is coddled - and it is likely any used example with a near mint one has had previous problems. It can be interchanged on these systems due to how the microcontroller setup is configured on these laptops. This can be fixed by resetting the S2 hibernation mode when it's persistent. There are no other options to fix it that will work, outside of installing more RAM. The best sign for this is a volmgr error in Event Viewer. However, downgrading is not an option. The Dell Slim adapter is recommended, as it is the easiest to get. This gave Dell an edge with Haswell. Look up the service tag and pull up the specifications to find out how the system shipped from the factory if you want to see if it was upgraded. La Tour 2.0 out of 5 stars No scratches or smudges. The only problem is that the installed battery arrived DEAD and WILL NOT CHARGE. The first thing I did after opening the box was to plug in the computer to charge the battery. After all night and part of the next day the battery showed 0 charge. Next, after first reading the instructions and cautions in the downloaded.pdf manual, I flipped the machine over, and pulled the battery out. I checked to see if the contacts looked clean and in good condition. Looked fine. Gently blew on the contacts to remove any possible dust. I put the battery back in, hoping it would work this time, but no luck. The computer works fine when it's plugged in, so it would seem that the battery itself is the problem, not the connection. Seeing as how a laptop is supposed to be portable, a working battery would seem to be rather fundamental. This is obviously a pretty serious flaw, the cause of only 2 stars. I would have preferred a few scratches and smudges and a working battery. I'm assuming this will fix the problem, and even though I shouldn't have to buy a battery just to make this thing work outside the house, I will. I don't want to go through the hassle of returning the whole unit just for the battery. I will update this review when the new battery is installed and (hopefully) working. We'll see. I can't give this purchase more than 2 stars even though the unit itself seems to be fine. UPDATE: The new Sunnear battery charges just fine. Anyway, the battery problem is solved by replacing the dead battery with a new one. My review remains as 2 stars because it's clear that the computer was shipped with a non-functional battery.Laptop was well packaged and in basically pristine condition. Fired right up, battery was at 100 out of the box. I let wWindows do it's updates, it was not activated but the code is on the sticker and activation went without a hitch. Apparently this laptop was originally a Windows 7 model, the sticker is still on it but it has Windows 10 Pro installed and so far no complaints. I bought this for work, I am a tech in a car dealer and a good laptop is essential for diagnostics. It works perfectly, I might even get a second for home. So I will add an update. I have been using this laptop without issue. I did upgrade the hard drive to a 1 TB SSD. I just used clonezilla and the SSD really made it come alive. Much faster, as you would expect. The hard drive it came with was a 5400 rpm Seagate. I also purchased a second laptop for home and also upgraded to a SSD. The one I pulled out of this one was a 7200 rpm no name with a date code from 2013. As you would expect, it did not like it. So I bought another one and like the other 2, it's perfectThe keyboard, LCD, and other key components were all in excellent working order, though. Yet, there were two surprises when I looked into the specs. First, the HDD was an especially slow 5400RPM model. Thankfully I immediately swapped it out for a SSD, and now use that 500GB drive as a 2nd for storage. The computer also came with the upgraded AMD video card, which it uses in concert with the integrated Intel chip to save power. After upgrading the system HDD, the computer actually has pretty good performance. Overall, a good purchase for a refurb. My problems is 1. at around the 1 month mark the internet disconnects from wifi by itself. Most of the time you can just reconnect manually but occasionally ive had to restart the laptop over it. Its rare but it happens. This is annoying for people who take tests online or for me who actually works online for money. 2. The screen. idk why or how but sometimes when i open my laptop i get dead pixels and they just spread. They seriously creep me out. Im going to have to pay for a screen replacement and hope it doesnt happen again. The good news is that it seems like a relatively easy screen replacement to fix. Those have been my only issues so far. It is not as fast as the latest laptop but it is competitive and fast enough. The performance is just fine for me. You can tell its old in some ways by how long it takes to do certain things like boot and update, but you cant tell its an old laptop when browsing the internet so its awesome. I have to give it 3 stars for the extra money i have to spend and for things going wrong before its even been 3 months. If the price drops id say get it in addition to a newer laptop as a backup laptop. If not id look elsewhere.I am rating the product 1-star, the seller 5-star (for an easy return) I've enjoyed computers since early 90s -floppy disks, hard disks, zip disks and all.Not for kids eager to launch a program, and not for the elderly who have barely any time left in the world. Those who seek to follow Buddha's patience should buy this though. It takes a little bit to get through the Computer setup, but I could register Windows 10 easily with the given instructions. Would buy from this dealer again.By the time you have proofed the computer is the problem, not you. It's too late to return.Je sais qu'il me donne de la constance dans l'ouverture de mon ordi et qu'il capte bien le wifi qui est quand meme une bonne distance du router. In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading. The Latitude competes with the ThinkPad series from Lenovo (formerly IBM), the EliteBook series from HP and TravelMate series from Acer.By contrast, the Dell Inspiron is aimed at the consumer market and its specifications change regularly. Whereas Inspiron may change vendors or components several times over the course of a single model, the Latitude line generally retains identical components throughout its production. This design is intended to simplify maintenance and support tasks for large corporations, allowing components to be easily swapped between models. The 3 series has replaced the 5 series as the budget line. The second number in the model (As in, 5 4 70 or 7 2 80) indicates the size of the screen on the laptop. For example, they often include security features such as smartcard and contactless smartcard, and TPM security, which are not needed by most consumers. A lid clasp (as opposed to a magnetic latching system), DisplayPort video out (as opposed to HDMI), and support for legacy standards are all results of the requirements of the business market.Latitude ON is essentially a system within a system. It requires a separate add on module which contains its own microprocessor and Operating system. This allows the laptop to function in the realm of a Netbook. As of February 2017, Latitude computers are available in three series: the 3000, 5000, and 7000. The 3000 series is designed to be entry-level, similar to the previous Latitude E55xx and Latitude E54xx laptops. The 5000 series is mid-range, similar to the Latitude E64xx and E65xx. It includes a high-performance subseries whose model designations end in 1. These devices are available with higher-TDP processors, discrete graphics and NVMe SSDs. The 7000 series consists of high-end Ultrabook computers, introduced in 2014 with the Latitude E7440 and E7240.The Education series laptops are designed for use in educational institutions. They're not especially powerful, and are more geared towards office applications or internet-based applications. The Rugged series laptops are similar to the previous Latitude XFR computers. They are designed with extra durability in mind. Both have support for an optional internal Bluetooth module, a socket for an optional mobile broadband card, and have an external switch for disabling any wireless connections. It had a PATA hard drive and a D-series modular bay, and used an ATI Radeon 9000 GPU. Unlike later D6x0 series machines, both memory sockets were accessible from a single cover on the bottom of the system.Differences include that the 600M does not work with the Dell D-Dock, and the case styling is slightly different. The motherboards, screens, and hard drive caddies are all physically interchangeable. The hard drive is accessible through a cover on the left-hand front side of the lower case and is secured by 1 screw. After removing the screw, the hard drive can then slide out.For space-saving purposes, instead of having both RAM chips on the bottom of the laptop, one RAM slot was moved to the top of the motherboard which could be accessed by removing the keyboard, whereas the other RAM slot remained in the area it had been located at previously. Unlike the D600 and prior midrange Latitudes (The 6xx series, dating back to the C-series) you had a choice of standard integrated Intel Graphics (GMA 900), or a discrete ATI solution (Radeon X300).Symptoms of this problem include a noise or whine when an audio device is connected to the audio-out jack. The D620 marked the transition from strictly 32-bit processing to opening-up the potential to run 64-bit operating systems and applications. So depending on the installed processor, a D620 can run x86-64 64-bit software. The D620 used a Socket-M for its motherboard and its CPU is possible to be upgraded. It was initially sold with Intel integrated graphics, but an option to upgrade to a discrete Nvidia GPU became available after a few months. It uses DDR2 memory and is compatible with both PC2-4200 (533 MHz) and PC2-5300 (667 MHz) memory. It has no option to expand to stereo without using external speakers or headphones. The early models suffered from light bleeding, where a black screen would show light bleeding in from the bottom of the screen. This wasn't fixed until almost a year into production. In addition, some D630 screens are known for having bad LCD pixels. The computer industry at the time had just switched to lead-free solders without redesigning cooling systems. This in turn led to undesirable heating cycles of the more brittle solder causing micro fractures to quickly form.It uses DDR2 memory and is compatible with PC2-5300 (667 MHz), and PC2-6400 (800 MHz) memory will work at PC2-5300 speeds. This was mostly due to temperature fluctuation but the graphics chips also ran much hotter than they were meant to. The D830 series, despite having more room for cooling the chip, suffered from the same issue. As a result, all of the Latitude D630c laptops will eventually fail if used, that is, unless they have already failed previously. However, it is very rare inside the United States due to it not being an option to order on Dell's website. You can find some that originated in the United States, but those were special ordered over the phone. They were sold alongside the D630 as standard equipment in select international countries, but while not being that rare internationally, they didn't sell as many units as the D630 series (And even D630c series) laptops did. As a result, not much information about specific chipsets, graphics chip options (If there were any), or any other features can be found online for specifying details. The D820 and D830 add an ExpressCard socket, not available in the D6x0 series. The D830 is capable of accepting 8 GB of physical memory with updated firmware. They were for all intents and purposes identical except for the graphics card, certification, and in the case of the M70, the lid.The D400 had a design that was similar to the D610 and came with a ULV Pentium M (Banias). The D410 came with a ULV Pentium M (Dothan). The D420 came with either an Intel Core Solo U1300 ULV 1.06 GHz, Intel Core Duo U2400 ULV 1.06 GHz or Intel Core Duo U2500 ULV 1.2 GHz. Unlike its bigger D620 brother, the D420's CPU was a soldered-in BGA and therefore is not up-gradable. The D430 came with either an Intel Core Solo U1400 ULV 1.2 GHz or Intel Core 2 Duo U7600 1.2 GHz; the U7700 Processor (1.33 GHz) was later made available as an option. The series was one of the first to offer the UXGA 1600x1200 resolution display and included a NVidia GeForce MX400 32 MB video accelerator to complement the display requirements. The modular bay could also be used for a second battery identical to the primary battery rather than a special modular bay battery. The Dell C840 can support up to one gigabyte of RAM in each of two slots, for a total of two gigabytes in all.The ATG as well as the XFR have a protective glass glued on top of the screen that often has glue leaking onto the display causing air bubbles to form.In addition, there have been reports that certain other drivers, such as iTunes Helper, may cause this or a similar problem. Other users report no problems from iTunes. A re-boot may solve the problem, but often users found that the driver installation is damaged, requiring a re-installation of the drivers. But the install program will not un-install if it doesn't recognize the N-Trig hardware. In this case, the alternatives are (1) restore the entire operating system from backup, (2) manually un-install by erasing all N-Trig programs and drivers then editing the registry to remove all references to N-Trig, then re-install the N-Trig software, or (3) do a complete re-install of Windows. In addition, Dell sells a MediaBase with an internal DVD drive. The drive also interfaces by way of a USB connection inside the MediaBase. Most, but not all, users of the MediaBase report that it prevents the drivers from loading. The Latitude 110L is a near-clone of the Inspiron 1000.CS1 maint: archived copy as title ( link ) CS1 maint: archived copy as title ( link ) Retrieved 2007-08-29.
