I purchased the 130-watt version because it looked the same, had the same number of ports, and even said it supported the same kind of functionality, with the only real difference being that the 200-watt unit would allow you to daisy-chain a series of monitors off of it, while the 130-watt version said it would only support two additional monitors.But, what I found is that if you plug two monitors into this thing, it doesn't have enough power to run anything else. There is no power for a set of external speakers. There is no power for an external disk drive plugged into one of the USB ports. There isn't even enough power to plug an HP OfficeJet Printer into this thing. So, even though I have this very same port replicator, I have to plug some of my devices into the replicator and some of them into my laptop, because it simply does not have enough of power to support all the ports and all the functions in the Port Replicator. My advice is that you simply forget that there is any such thing as a 130-watt version of this Port Replicator and buy the 200-watt version from the start.If you are using the keyboard on the laptop instead of an external keyboard you may disconnect it from the port replicator. You can use either DVI or VGA connections on this port replicator. It offers more USB connectivity, so in that case it is nice to have for my laptop. It offers a cable lock hole, but to allow docking and undocking of the laptop (pressing the release) you have to have the cable lock installed with the level in the unlock position. The locked position does not allow for easy docking or undocking. The seller put together a good package with a new 130W power supply, and the unit looks new, but the cardboard box looks like it's been around.Have only had it for a couple of days, but so far everything works perfectly. The laptop's USB ports are only 2.0, but this replicator has 3.0 ports so that's a huge plus. I dock the laptop and plug in a regular keyboard, a mouse, and a large external monitor so this gives me a powerful desktop system, but when I need to have a portable system it's just a matter of un-docking it.Something like an E5470 will sit at a dangerous angle even with the spacer. I partially solved this issue by placing something under the E5470 to raise it up. As far as the ports go it works well. I'm using the two Display Port connections for a 4k and 2k monitor. The power button on the laptop turns on the dock so you don't have to lift the lid up. Undocking the laptop seems to be a pain. There might be a better way of doing it, but it was definitely optimized for the Latitudes with the older docking port design.It takes a lot of desk space because the laptop doesn't dock close to the back edge. Before You Dock for the First Time Before you initially connect your laptop to the E-Port, the operating system must complete its setup process. To verify that the operating system has completed the setup process: 1 Ensure that the laptop is not connected to the E-Port (docked). 2 Turn on the laptop. 3 Verify that your laptop operating system has completed the setup process. 4 Verify that your battery is installed before docking your laptop. Slide the battery bar adjuster to the left to retract the battery bar. 4 If your laptop does not have a battery extending from the back of the laptop, extend the battery bar by sliding the battery bar adjuster to the right. The E-Port must be unlocked to dock a laptop. NOTE: You can dock your laptop if it is turned on or off. 6 Center the laptop with the E-Port, then push down on the laptop until it clicks into place in the docking connector. NOTICE: Do not pick up the laptop or the E-Port when the laptop is docked. Move the lock toward the back of the E-Port (unlocked) before pressing the eject button to undock the laptop. The red color in the security cable slot indicates the E-Port is unlocked. The power button light indicates the power status of the E-Port or a docked laptop. The docking light on the eject button indicates the AC power and docking status of the E-Port and the laptop. You can use your E-Port for dual monitor display. Data Display on Demand Example Defining Switch Information Viewing the Switch Status The Switch Status page contains parameters for configuring and viewing general switch information, including the Product Name, F irmware V ersion, the system MAC Address, Asset T ag, Service T ag, System Name, L ocation Name, Serial Number, and System Up Time. T o open th e page, click Switch Status in the tree view. Figure 6-1. Switch Status P roduct Name — Defines the name of the product. F irmware V ers ion — Defines the version of the product firmwar e. Boot V ersion — Displays the current boot version running on the device. MAC Address — Specifies the switch MAC address. Service T ag — The service refer ence number used when servicing the switch. System Name (0-32 Characters) — Defines the user-defined switch name. Location Name (0-32 Characters) — The location where the system is curr ently running. Serial Number — Specifies the device’s unique serial number, as signed by the manufacturer. System Up T ime — Specifies the amount of time since the last switch r eset. The system time is displayed in the following format: Days, Hours, Minu tes, and Seconds. F or e xampl e, 41 days, 2 hours, 22 minutes, and 15 seconds. Secure Mode (2748 only) — When checked, en ables the secure mode. The default is unchecked (disabled). As soon as Apply Changes is clicked, the current configuration will be saved and th e device will become Secure and will no longer be able to be configured. Defining Switch Information: 1 Open the Switch Status page. 2 Define the fields. 3 Click Apply Changes. The switch status parameters are defined, and the switch is upd ated. Viewing Sy stem IP Address The IP Addressing page enables to manually set the static IP Ad dress, Subnet Mask and the device’s static Default Ga teway Address. When the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) client is enabled, the switch requests from the DHCP server to assi gn a dynamic IP Address, Subnet Mask Address, and Default Ga teway Address to manage the device. The IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway are th en set dynamically. When the DHCP Address is applied, the switch is confi gured accor ding to the new IP and Default Gateway ad dresses r eceived from the DHCP server. T o open the page, click IP Addressing in the tree view. The DHCP default value is Disable. This field enabl es the DHCP cl ient. IP Address — Specifies the static IP Address currently assigned to the device. Subnet Mask — Specifies the subnet mask of the static IP Address, curr ently assigned to the device. Default Gateway — Specifies the static Default Gateway Address, currently assigned to the device. DHCP IP Address — Specifies the IP Address r eceived from the DHCP server. DHCP Mask — Specifies the Subnet Mask received from the DHCP server. DHCP Default Gateway — Defines the Default Gateway Address r eceived from the DHCP server. Apply DHCP Address — Activates the IP Address, Subnet Mask Address, and Default Gateway Address, r eceived from the DHCP server. Updating Static IP Address 1 Open the IP Addressing page. 2 V erify that the DHCP field is Disable. 3 Manually enter the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway fields. 4 Click Apply Changes. The system Static IP address para meters are applied to the switch. 5 Reconnect the device with the new IP Address. NOTE: The displayed values are not configured to the device. The switch requests from the DHCP server to assign a new dynamic IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway Address to manage the device. The dynami c DHCP IP Address, DHCP Subnet Mask, and DHCP Defaul t Gateway Address are displayed. NOTE: The displayed values are not configured to t he device. Record the updat ed dynamic fields. 4 Check the box for Apply DHCP Address.
