Did you miss your activation email ? All that's broken is the 12V output for the add on speaker module. Not an urgent issue as it's only sound that's affected. I've done a fair bit of searching but not hits apart from the scammer service manual sites that claim to have it until you visit them. Nothing listed on the Dell service manual site, perhaps because it is so old Covers a similar model and this probably has common power supply and control boards.http://fermobkorea.com/userfiles/20201014111110.xml I might just have to open the monitor and have a look. As nothing else is affected, I'm hoping that the 12V is stand alone supply only used for the external audio module. DC output is fused by 3A fuse on the main board. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2 The monitor is working OK, it's only the 12V that supplies the soundbar that's died. I'd rather not risk breaking the monitor in taking it apart (I've been know to do this!) If I need sound, I can hook up a 12V supply to run the soundbar or just get a separate pair of speakers - sound is not something I really need on the computer except for listening to the occasional TV programs from ABC In at least one case searching for the power supply led me to the service manual for another monitor model with the same power supply. Despite the 'Dull' brand so often associated with it, recent years have seen the Texas firm redefine the TFT market with some great monitors at insane prices. It has proved such a hit with high-end users, that we've even incorporated its 1920x1200 resolution into our game testing. To match the styling of this new monitor, Dell has revamped its entire display range, adding new features and respinning the looks. The design is minimalistic - simply a black bezel, silver stand and a small Dell logo on the front. This is definitely welcome on a display of this size, since you're really going to want it to be exactly where you need it on your desk. Check out shopping.bit-tech.net for the latest real-time pricing How does this compare to other monitors on the market. However, the new panel used has compensated for this with a very fast response time, and a good contrast ratio. This is the same as the previous model - at least it hasn't been reduced like the luminance in order to attain the faster response time. It's great to see full HDCP support on the DVI port, making this monitor compatible with the the next generation of optical and high definition content - a major advantage over the previous model. Dell's new 27in IPS monitor certainly has a sky-high specification but is it worth the outlay. Although these units will not be available for retail sales until Q1'04, we have been assured that the monitors shipping with the XPS systems are identical to the retail models next year. Designing a 1600x1200 LCD for gamers was no accident. If you're a casual browser through our forums, you may note the dozens of inquiries about availability of low response time 1600x1200 LCDs. While 1600x1200 LCDs do exist (Dell 2000FP, for example), none of them have been able to pack the punch as a 16ms response time offering. Response time, as you may know, is the measurement, in seconds, as the LCD pixel twists to fully off, and back to fully on again. Although we certainly have our doubts about how important response time is (at least once you start getting under 25ms), many die-hard gamers swear by 16ms timings. Without further ado, let us see if this monitor is in fact just what the doctor ordered. I've notitced that the monitor is a couple of years old. I spend much of my time working with black-on-white text, no shading or color. Unfortunately, I have never been able to demo the Dell 2001F. I have the D-sub and DVI connector on my 2001FP hooked up constantly and i am switching back and forth all day with no problems - although the two cables hook up to different machines.I have a BFGTech GeForce5700LE video card with an analog VGA out and a DVI-I video out. This monitor has an analog VGA in and a DVI-D video in.If I have both connected, I get no signal when I switch from input 1 (analog) to input 2 (digital). The manual says you cannot have both connected at the same time.I gotta say it was worth the wait.I NEVER see it, and the guy said that if it hits 6 damaged pixels in the next 3 years they'll fix it for free.I have found atleast 5 dead subpixels (green colored)located upperleft quadrant and lowerright quadrant. Anyone know if Dell will replace it. I haven't been in touch with them yet.Kristopher I've played a handful of games of UT2004 with it using both the DVI connector and the standard VGA connector. I'm running the following hardware: Intel 2.8Ghz 128M ATI Radeon 9700 Pro 1G Corsair XMS I'll admit, there's no ghosting in UT, but there's a TON of blurryness. I've installed the driver on the CD and nothing changed. If I don't figure out the deal this weekend, Dell will get it back. I've not seen anything different on this flat panel than I've seen on any other with regards to being game friendly. To me, there's little difference between being blurry, and exhibiting ghosting. Neither is acceptable in a monitor in this price range. If anything changes, I'll post here again, but for now, I'd recommend not getting it. Digital and analog connectors and cables. Some minor flaws in digital image quality. Front-panel icons are difficult to read. Although it has some minor flaws and shortcomings, the combination of features and performance for the price makes it an attractive choice. The stand has the full range of adjustments: tilt, swivel, height, and rotation between landscape and portrait modes. The panel has both digital and analog connections, as well as S-video and composite connectors for video signals. It also has one upstream and four downstream USB connectors. The panel appears to be identical to the BenQ FP2091's, and both monitors offer a handy PIP feature to put the video image in a window on top of your computer data. They both showed similar excellent viewing-angle performance, as well as moderate smearing of moving images. For example, where the BenQ FP2091 has well-marked labels for the panel controls, the 2001FP uses icons embossed in the dark plastic that can be difficult to read under typical lighting conditions. On the other hand, the Dell monitor outperformed the BenQ in terms of image quality with analog signals. On our tests using DisplayMate images ( www.displaymate.com ), the 2001FP had excellent dark gray and very good light gray response with good color tracking on analog signals. With a digital signal, dark gray performance was weak while light gray performance was excellent. We saw some faint banding on color ramps. SEE ALSO: The Best TVs for 2020 The 2001FP has one larger omission, though: It does not include any software to support the panel's portrait mode. This is not a problem if you do not intend to use this feature, but if you do, you'll need to get either a graphics card that supports this feature or use a third-party utility. If you're looking for a higher-resolution LCD monitor at a great price but still want to get some handy extra features, this is a good choice. The smaller monitor offers you the ability to DISCONNECT the cable easily from the back of the monitor, and move it to hook to something else. Or, you can have one digital cable going from your monitor to your computer, but the analog going to your netbook, and switch between them. Resolution in monitors is often a problem not due to the monitor, but due to Windows defaults. MS just doesn't care about good defaults, hence that narrow Arial type we're all stuck with, in websites. But you can change all that. How to get a good Windows desktop display in XP and prior. Trick is to set XP Windows Display Properties to maximum resolution, and in Properties Appearance Effects, to select Clear Type, not standard. So if your monitor's graphics seem less than sterling, esp.Oh: and use Comic Sans MS, Franklin Medium, Deja Vu or Gill Sans MT for your default desktop and browser font face. (I don't know Win7 equivalents, sorry. I will never upgrade past XP.) Again, the other big selling point for a monitor like this, with 4 USB hubs, 2 on the side: your bigger external hard drives (500 GB and higher), run better. They are persnickety about power load, if not self-powered. They don't share power well on a standard PC. So you in effect isolate them on a different hub, if you plug them into the monitor hub like I do. They sleep properly, wake properly, copy properly -- because they're not on the back of a computer with 6-8 USB ports, all clamoring for a share. Plus, the short distance between peripheral cord and monitor hub, is less of a problem. Now, for complaints. The one drawback with Dell monitors is the clunky monitor adjustment interface buttons on the front; happily, you get used to adjusting them. Suggest that unless you changed your Windows theme to off-white and sand or olive to ease eye strain, that you instead tweak the monitor to make that horrible XP glare blue and glare white, a tad more matte-like. You do this by adjusting the monitor's own brightness and contrast, and you can even tweak its color palette. Whew. So now you have created your own color theme, independent of the tyrannical and always dysfunctional, Windows defaults. Oh: if you have XP Home, when your monitor goes to sleep it doesn't just black out. It instead bounces this really ugly (Win8-style) color box around the screen, in 1907FP, 1707FP. This problem doesn't happen with XP Pro. Another longtime complaint about Dell monitors: its buttons die young. On the 1905FP, the ROUNDED TOP button did begin to stick, after three years. Solution is to rarely use the button, and instead change your power mode to turn off the monitor after 20 minutes (Windows bugs out at lower settings, and often won't power down). But if your buttons are flat (and sort of concave), then you likely won't have this problem. So, that's why I bought three of these monitors (new or used) from Amazon over the past year, rather than get a faster, newer, allegedly spiffier model. Again, sometimes older is better.:)Please try again later. Please try again later. HWAsian 5.0 out of 5 stars So if you just want a nice monitor for normal use this is a good one. The feature I use the most is the two USB ports that is on the bottom left side of the monitor. When I bought the monitor the USB port was what got me to buy it. It also has a good range of adjustments. It turns, tilts, and raises up and down about 6 inches. Had the monitor for about two years now, no dead pixels, no problems. Please try again later. If the power button flashes and the screen refuses to turn on, then it is very likely a blown capacitor. Before attempting to follow this guide, ensure the monitor is completely disconnected and that you are aware of the dangers of capacitors. Soldering experience would be helpful. These include: Minimum wire requirements is 12AWG, 600 volt rating for large electrolytic capacitors used in power supplies, electric motor start circuits and camera flash circuitry Minimum requirements for resistor is 2k OHM 5w for small capacitors, 20k OHM 5w for large electrolytic capacitors used in power supplies, electric motor start circuits and camera flash circuitry. Alternatively, the probes commonly used on multimeters can be soldered to the wires to create a more precise discharge tool. The first step is to remove the monitor from the stand. This detaches the screen and housing from the case internally. These slots would be below the screen where the faceplate is attached. It is attached via plastic snaplocks and will come off with some prying. The wire can now be pulled from the slot, fully removing the faceplate from the monitor. The first step for this is to remove the plates protecting the wires. There are a total of 5 screws holding two plates onto the top and bottom. This is best done with needle nose pliers, since the attaching head must be depressed and pulled at the same time. Do not touch the circuit boards! Never allow the current to discharge through your body. Never touch the metal of the tool you use to discharge the current. This may cause sparks or pops. Ensure every single possible capacitor is discharged before proceeding! This frees the powerboard from the housing. There is one last wire attaching it to the other board, but it is difficult and unnecessary to remove. The tops will be rounded rather than flat or could have dried orange fluid spilling from the tops. These need to be replaced. Identify their capacitance and voltage and remember these. Maybe they differ internationally because of the built-in transformator. It is aliiiive:) Opening the case from the front frame first was the trick, I was looking for.
