Flash Configur ation For both Wi ndow s 3.1 and Win dows 95 u sers, t he microFl ash confi gura tion ic on, tit led Flash Co nfi gurat ion wil l ap pear on the sc reen. Click on the Flash Co nfiguration icon. You will be pro mpted to choose a printer. Highlig ht the prin ter type t o display both choices. Once you ha ve made your selection, click on OK. You can return to this m enu at a later date whe n sendi ng a ne w con figur atio n to a d iffere nt pr inter. Just click o n the Flas h Confi gura tion ico n whe n yo u’re re ad y to send a new c onfi gura tion, and the O’Neil Configu ration menu will again ask you to select a printer type. Cl ick on OK when you’ve made y our selection. The following screen will now appear. You can either click on a button to activate that function or use its pull-do wn menu. To use a pul l-down menu, cl ick on one of the key words at the top of th e screen. For ex ample, click on “Configu re” to pull down the Configu re Menu, whic h has the opt ions s ho wn belo w. For more on the Configure Menu and th e Transmit Menu, see the Pull Down Menus sections at th e end of this chapter. Communication Parameters Will select the COM Po rt and other param eters. Printer Options Allows you to chang e the beeper and time ou t configuration. Paper Options Allow s you to determin e the darkn ess of the prin t and th e number of sheets of paper you us e. Infrared Parameters Allows you to choose the type of infrared link you want. Fonts Availa ble fonts. You c an ad d or remove fonts. Graphics Select ions Choose graph ics for download to the m icroFlash. Transmit Configuration Transmits current configuration to the microFlash. Config uration only - Not a new program, s ee updating microFlash. Each time you open the microFlash Configuration soft ware, the program will open with the last saved confi gur atio n. T he defa ult fi le na me wi ll be DEF AULT.MFL. You c an also sa ve con fig uratio ns und er o ther file name s, but you must use t he MFL e xtensi on. T o sa ve your c hanges t o the defa ult fi le, pr ess the Save button or select Save from the File menu. To save to another file name, under the File menu, select Save As. Communication Par ameters Commu nica tions l et you adj ust t he mic roFla sh to your ha nd- held d evice. The Port Settings are for downloading purposes only. Click on “Port ” as shown below to choos e either COM1 or C OM2 depending on which one you selected to to download your configura tion to the printer. Warnin g: A data bit of 7 wit h Odd or Even is not a vali d microF lash configura tion. If you have m ore than one free port, you can down load to more than one microFlash at a time by open ing the program twice, and having each program send to different COM-Ports. To select a port, clic k on the arrow to the right of the field to di splay your choices, an d choose one by clicking on it. This port setting is not related to the port setting you use when you communicate with a h and-held computer to prin t receipts. This setting is only used for downloading the configuration from this microFlash Confi gurat ion P ro gram. Baud Rate The baud rate is the speed of information flo w f rom the ha nd-held device to the microFlash. To select a baud rate, click on the arrow to the right of the field t o display your choices. C hoose on e by clicking on it. Data Bits You must select the data bits appro priate to you r hand-held device. You may choose 7 or 8 bits. To select a n umber click on the arrow to the right of th e field to display your choices. Choose on e by clicking on it. Parity You must also select the parity appropriate to you r hand-held device. You may ch oose Even parity, Odd parity or No parity. Click on t he arrow to the right of the field, an d choose one by clicking on it. Exception: A data bit of 7 with Odd or Even is not a valid configuration. T o enable both, select both. To set the Handshaking function, click on the arrow to the right of the field, then click on the setti ng you want. When your commu nica tion sett ings ar e what you wa nt them to be, click on the OK button.
