The D12's recording section provides uncompressed recording at either 16 or 24-bit, 44.1 kHz resolution. Four tracks can be recorded simultaneously, with 12 track playback in 16-bit mode and six track playback in 24-bit mode. The D12 can record up to 100 songs, plus each of its 12 tracks has eight virtual tracks, for a total of 9,600 tracks. A unique 12-to-2 bounce-down merges track data, to increase the number of tracks that can be recorded. Tracks or whole songs can also be optimized, to prevent fragmentation of the recording drive. The D12 includes a 6 GB hard drive (providing 19.5 track hours of recording), and a SCSI connector for adding fixed or removable media drives (to provide extended recording time), as well as for exporting track data as WAV files. The user then has a completely self-contained system that goes from recording, to editing, to final mastering. The D12 features a 16-input, 4-bus digital mixer. Also included Normalize and Fade commands. All analog inputs use balanced preamps. The D12 provides two XLR jacks with mic preamps. All phone type inputs are balanced TRS jacks and a dedicated guitar input jack is also provided. EQ Each analog input and mixer channel has its own high and low shelving EQ, plus adjustable-frequency mid EQ. Because the D12 has separate EQs for the inputs and the mixer, so the EQ settings for recording remain distinct from those set for playback. Mix Automation Mixer settings such as fader, EQ, pan, and effects can be stored in a scene, and up to 100 scenes can be stored for each song. Scenes can be recalled automatically as the playback time progresses for detailed mixing, or you can manually select them whenever desired. D12 mixer data, such as fade and pan, can be transmitted and received via MIDI. This makes it possible to perform mixer automation from an external sequencer, keyboard or computer. Effect section The effects section of the D12 consists of multiple effects units: up to eight insert effects that can be used with either mono or stereo inputs and outputs, two types of master effects driven by sends from each channel, and a final effect applied to the master out. Many of these effects feature Korg's exclusive REMS (Resonance structure and Electronic circuit Modeling System) technology. These effects include numerous replications of classic guitar amps, and accurate simulations of the characteristics of well known recording microphones. Each effect program is created using one of 98 different algorithms, and the D12 delivers a total of 192 preset programs (128 insert, 32 master, 32 final). Effects programs that you create by editing these presets can be stored in the 192 user program areas. MTC (MIDI Time Code) can also be received for synchronization, and MMC (MIDI Machine Control) can be transmitted to control external MMC devices, letting you synchronize a pair of D12s to create a 24 track system. Using a MIDI patch bay, you can connect three or more units. Audio from an external digital source such as CD or MD can be recorded digitally, and a song you create can be sent directly to a DAT or MD recorder via digital output for mixdown. Do you have to load the Adaptec software onto the digital recorder like you would if it was a PC. Am I missing something?Gotcha's - SCSI ID numbers. If the external device is set to the same ID as the recorder it would definately cause trouble. (I'm assuming you are connected via SCSI as opposed to fire-wire or direct audio link of any kind, am I correct?) Also, SCSI termination; does the ROM self-terminate. Does it have a dipswitch to toggle termination. Maybe you need a physical terminator. The way I set it up when I got my ROM was as follows: 1. power off all equipment 2. check SCSI id numbers (scour your Korg manual to find it's ID, then set the ROM to a different number. Also, the Korg manual may say to NOT use certain other numbers as well, so read carefully.) 3. attach the SCSI cable.Best of luck, welcome to the site, and let me know if none of this is helpful (though I'm not sure what else I could recommend. That answers my biggest question. The connection is a SCSI-2 on the Korg to a 50 pin Centronics on the CDRW. TheCDRW has a physical terminator on the other 50 pin on the back. The Korg itself also has the latest updated software, Version 2.1, released in July 2001. I found Korg's customer service number, so I guess I'll see if they can figure out the deal. I powered up the CXDRW first (as instructions stated) then powered up the Korg. A couple of times the Korg would not fully load the software,.sort of get stuck in a loop trying to load. Thanks for the thelp and the welcome.I'm not ruling it out, but if so it's the first I've heard of it. Once you hear back from Korg you can surely get clarity on that question though. It should work on the first or second try though. -ShazI've actually gotten past the illegal drive error, but when I write to CD, the Korg is suppose to ask me if I want to write it at 2X or 4X.User Alert System provided by Super PM System provided by. ( August 2014 ) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message ) An updated model called the New CX-3 was released in 2000, and uses sample-based technology, as opposed to the original's analog emulation. Both incarnations of the instrument feature a double-manual version called the BX-3. The first-generation models also included an output for the instrument to hook up to a real Leslie speaker. It was released to compete with Roland 's Juno-6 synth, and both keyboards shared similar features, such as a built-in chorus unit and an arpeggiator. The instrument was recreated in a virtual version, the PolysixEX for Korg's Legacy Collection, and is also available as an add-on for the OASYS synth. It is also one of the included synth engines with the Kronos line of synths. Shortly before it was discontinued, a MIDI version known as the Poly-61M was released. The second-generation Mk II model added a digital delay section. Was also released in a module version, the EX-800. A built-in computer analyzed the melody played on the keyboard, and generated a complex accompaniment. This was the world's first auto-accompaniment function of this kind added to a keyboard. Also, a more traditional chord recognition system was included. Used an analog filter. Was also released in a rack-mount version, the EX-8000. This synthesizer were powered by Yamaha's second-generation 4-operator FM engine Three-space rack unit. Total: 16 voices, single oscillator, doubled RAM from DSS-1, also superb analog filters. The best-selling synthesizer of all time (with 250,000 units sold worldwide, as a single model). Co-designed by Sequential Circuits founder Dave Smith. KORG hired Dave Smith and some of his engineers when Sequential went bankrupt in 1987. The i3 also included a multitrack MIDI sequencer in addition to the auto-accompaniment styles and arrangements, large graphical display, improved chord recognition, and the new Backing Sequence feature, which facilitated creation of new songs based on styles. Rack version of the X5. An i3-type keyboard with a slightly reduced feature set, but with built-in speakers. Some new sounds and styles were added. Newly added traditional styles and sounds (shared with the i5S) particularly appealed to accordionists. The Prophecy was monophonic and featured a unique cylindrical modulation wheel with integrated ribbon controller. Similar to the N364, but lacking RPPR or a sequencer. Keyboard Sets allowed for immediate recalling of keyboard track settings. In addition to the Korg voices, it provides full support for GM, GS and XG. It also has a very usable arpeggiator. It provides more output ports and effects than the N5 and the built-in voice (patch and combination) editor is easier to master. As a series Triton (Classic, Studio, Le, Extreme, TR, Karma, X50 and MicroX, all sharing common synth engine and features) sold over 300,000 units. Specifications were similar to the iS40 (obviously, with no keyboard or joystick), but included the Vocal Harmony feature as standard. Furthermore, the module included 3 different pre-programmed MIDI setups, to make connection with various instruments even easier. Similar, but with an additional set of XG compatible sounds added through a daughterboard. Pa80 was the first model introduced in December 2000 with the same engine as Korg's Triton series, a wide selection of highly musical Styles, a Multitasking Operating System and a Dual Sequencer design. The Triton Extreme also featured a dramatically increased ROM size: 160 MB, featuring 32 MB of all new acoustic samples. Interfacing and performing with all types of software become seamless. Both mixers had Traktor Scratch Certification. They featured the full Korg MiniKP interface and effects, which can be applied to selected channels. 8 different EQ models (including full cut isolator), selectable by a large dial on the panel, were another unique feature. Following in the footsteps of Korg's KP technology, it features a touch pad where the horizontal axis varies in pitch and the vertical in tone. Released January 2008 in the US. It came with piano stand included, and featured Pa-Series compatibility. Assembly required. The Oriental version comes with a bonus package that includes musical resources from Middle East libraries.
