T HE CZ 452 ZK M S M A LLBORE RIFLE DESCRIP TI ON A ND T ER M INOLOGY T he na m es o f basic s m allbore ri f le parts used in this Instruction Manual are presented in Fig. 1. No m enclat ures o f all CZ 452 ZKM parts are presented in the section Illustration and List of Parts. T he CZ 452 ZKM is a classic repeating f irear m o f sturd y design. It is m anu f actured in a nu m ber o f versions. Characteristic f eatures o f all versions are: - T he CZ 452 ZKM is w ell -balanced and consequentl y quic k and eas y to aim - T he tangent rear sights are adjustable to a w ide range o f shooting distances - Eas y m ounting o f ri f le scope T he use o f other cartridges could da m age the f irear m or cause injur y to th e shooter. Loading of the Rifle AL W AYS MAKE SURE THE RIFLE IS POINTED IN A SAFE DIRECTION WH EN LOADING. Insert a loaded m aga z ine into the ri f le until it is securel y caught b y the m aga z ine catch. Grip the ri f le w ith the le f t hand b y its f ore-end, place the buttplate against y our bod y and grip the bolt handle w ith the other hand. Open the bolt b y raising the bolt handle and pulling it to the rear to its stop. T hen push the bolt vigorousl y to its f or w ard position again and by rotating the bolt handle in a do w n w ard direction close the bolt action. T his procedure inserts the cartridge into the cartridge cha m ber and coc k s the stri k er m echanis m. T he ri f le is no w read y to f ire. I f y ou do not intend to f ire i mm ediatel y ensure the fi rear m sa f et y as described f urther in the section Safety and its Operation. W hen using a single-shot adapter, k eep it inserted in the ri f le, open the bolt and place the cartridge on the f ollo w er. Further proceed in the sa m e m anner as w hen e m plo y ing the m aga z ine. T he single -shot adapter is intended f or the highest accurac y levels o f shooting as it protects the bullets against da m age during the f eeding o f cartridges. T his procedure loc k s the trigger m echanis m and the bolt, it is not possible to discharge a cartridge or m anipulate the bolt. W hen the stri k er is coc k ed (activated), its rear part protrudes (Fig. 5). T his protrusion can be chec k ed both b y sight and b y touch. T rigger A djustment T he trigger pull adjust m ent is carried out a f ter the re m oval o f the barreled action f ro m the stoc k and b y adjusting the trigger rod nut (Fig. 6). Sight A djustment T he CZ 452-2E ZKM s m all bore ri f le sights w ere sighted -in at the m anu f acturing plant at a 50 m distance. T he tangent rear sight is provided w ith lines f or 25 - 200 m ai m ed shooting in diversion steps o f 25 m. A f ter depressing the rear sight-loc k ing piece it is possible to shi f t the slide f or the desired range. W indage adjust m ent is achieved a ft er loosing the scre w (Fig. 7) on the side y ou w ant to shi f t the point o f i m pact and then tighten the scre w on the opposite s ide. A f ull turn o f the scre w sh i f ts the point o f i m pact 5 c m (2 in.) at 50 m. Elevation correct ion is carried out b y dri f ting the f ront sight in a dovetail. T he f ront sight is secured in its place b y a scre w. T he f ront side base is provided w ith auxiliar y lines (Fig. 8). Dri f ting the f ront sight b y one line shi f ts the point o f i m pact b y 1.5 c m (.6 in.) at 50 m. On the CZ 452 ZKM Scout version, w indage correction is carried out b y shi f ting the f ront sight in the transverse groove, and securing it in the desired position w ith an indentation punch. Elevation adjust m ent is carried out b y shi f ting o f the rear sight leaf slide (Fig. 10). Shi fting the slide b y one incre m ent changes the point o f i m pact b y 1.25 c m (.5 in.) at 50 m. Rifle Scope Mounting o f the ri f lescope and sighting - in o f the ri f le should be entrusted to a quali f ied guns m ith's w or k shop. Disassembl y of the Bolt 1. Re m ove the bolt f ro m the receiver as previousl y described. 2. Keeping the f ir m grip o f the bolt bod y rotate the bolt handle to the right (in the sa m e m anner as i f closing the bolt in the f irear m ). T he m ain spring is thus released. 3. Place the stri k er spring s upport against a suitable solid object (Fig. 9) and push it a little w a y into the bolt bod y. At the sa m e ti m e pulling the sa f et y up and out. 4. A f ter detaching the sa f et y, care f ull y release the bolt w hile holding the stri k er spring support. Be ver y care f ul wh en doing this disasse m bl y procedure as the spring support is under m ain spring tension and its ejection could result in the loss o f this part, or could cause an injur y. CAU T ION: Do not strip y our f irear m an y f urther. I f y ou assu m e that y our f irear m requires adjust m ent or repair, entrust this w or k to a co m petent guns m ith in a speciali z ed w or k shop. Cleaning of the Rifle Clean the ri f le - Each ti m e y ou use it - I f y ou get y our ri f le w et - As soon as possible a f ter shooting - At least once a y ear in a te m perate cli m at e - As o f ten as once a m onth in a tropical cli m ate, or other de m anding environ m ent Repeat, changing patches, until the last patch co m es out clean. W hen the barrel bore is ver y dirt y, appl y a gun cleaning solution using a cleaning brush. Let the solvent act f or about 10 m inutes (this ti m e m a y v ar y depending on the solvent agent being used). T hen thoroughl y scrub out the barrel bore. Subsequentl y, dr y the barrel bore and cartridge cha m ber w ith a clean patch and chec k that all po w der residues or f ouling have been re m oved. I f necessar y repeat this procedure. T he cleaning rod and the brush m ust be inserted into the barrel bore f ro m the cha m ber, to prevent w ear or da m age to the m u zz le. Pass the brush all the w a y through the barrel bore be f ore reversing the m ove m ent. I f y ou tr y to change directions w ith the brush in the barrel, the brush could stic k. Cleaning of Other Rifle Parts Other parts o f the ri f le can be cleaned w ith a dr y cloth, old toothbrush, copper bristle brush or a w ooden scraper. Preserving oil or para ff in oil can be used f or proper clean ing. Never use the agent designed f or barrel bore cleaning. T hese solutions could re m ain in the joints, and a f ter so m e ti m e could cause corrosion. Chec k that cloth particles or brush bristles have not beco m e lodged in an y part o f the ri f le. T he m aintenance o f the stoc k can be carried out w ith a dr y cloth or b y so m e f urniture -polishing product. Preser v ing W hen the barrel bore, cartridge cha m ber, and all accessible parts are clean and dr y, w ipe these parts w ith a cloth soa k ed in gun oil or appl y the oil in a spra y. Re m ove all excess oil. Be f ore shooting al w a y s w ipe the barrel bore dr y. At ver y lo w te m peratures re m ove the oil f ro m all accessible parts or appl y a lubricant prepared especiall y f or these conditions. Use thic k preserving agents f or exa m ple, preserving grease onl y f or long -ter m storage in de m anding cli m ate environ m ents, and be f ore an y use o f the ri f le it m ust be thoroughl y re m oved f ro m all parts o f the f irear m. Ho w ever, i f such a s ituation does occur please observe the f ollo w ing instructions. CAU T ION - i f a m al f unction occurs, the possibilit y o f an unintentional discharge is substantiall y increased.
