It will blend for a minute and then slow down and quit, leaving a warm plastic smell. I haven't had it for more than six months.The first one lasted a good ten years and only needed to be replaced because I dropped the glass jar. I love the convenience of the food processor attachment. It saves me from having to drag out my big processor every time I want to make a bit of pesto. My only complaint would be that the ice crush option doesn't work as well as I would like.The on light came on but any time you pressed function button it just turned back off. Called customer service and they said it was probably a bad motor. Unfortunately, I bought this in January while my house was being remodeled and didn’t open it until May so it was out of the warranty and return periods so I was just stuck with a useless product. I have always loved Cuisinart products but not sure I’ll try them again.Went ahead and bought another for space-saving for my farm. After READING the directions (for the first time!!!) I realized that I had not been using the buttons correctly. What a difference it has made. I do have a heavy duty blender and a heavy processor but seldom use them because of the weight and counter space taken up. Oh, because of the price I have gifted 4 or 5 of these and those people were happy from the beginning because.yes, they had read the directions. Wordy, aren't I?Unfortunately, as with many others in these reviews, the motor quit after 6 months of light usage. Cannot recommend. Looks like I'll be testing the warranty as well. Edit: So I contacted Cuisinart warranty service. Very unsatisfied. I told them that I primarily used the device to make smoothies. They stated that the density of the blended material was likely the cause for the motor to fail. Their take on that is that the part has to fail on its own accord, not from use. Yeah, I got it. If I use it and it breaks, it is on me. Geez. So the warranty is virtually useless.
