When I pressed the red button on the garage door opener, and subsequently followed directions on the keypad, my remote and my HomeLink in the car stopped working. (The important thing that happened in my case was that the Keypad directions say to press and hold the Red button on the garage opener for 30 seconds or longer.This immediately programmed the remote. It is a Craftsman 139.53 and when I program one remote the other doesn't work. I also was able to use the keyless entry keypad but despite my following the directions on the device I am unable to re-program that (it blinks fast when I enter the passcode) it still does not work. I followed the directions that were posted by Jim but I am still not having success. Does anyone have any other suggestions. I think it might answer your question.We may not explain things so that it's easy to understand, so let me take another stab at it. Lets assume that all your transmitters are the latest, rolling code. (because they are, you have the red button)They include the two remotes and the outside digital keypad. But, for some strange reason, one of your remotes has lost the ability to roll it's code, and reverts back to the old billion code system. It's still transmitting, but its not transmitting like it should. Now, program the keypad, and it works fine. Now, program a hand held remote, and it works fine. You start with all the memory cleared from the motor unit. So as you can see, the Logic board will accept either billion code or rolling code, but not both together. Thats why you can program one or the other, but not both. Find whichever hand held remote works with the keypad, and thats the one you keep. The other one is the Bad One, get rid of it and buy a new one. The owner's manual doesn't say anything about having to reprogram the remote after battery replacement. The button is not labeled on my opener, but is shown in the manual. My push button is on the back of the opener, away from the door, and not covered. Yours may be near the light bulb. See p.35 - I bought a wireless keypad and had to change the dipswitches on my opener. After programming the wireless keypad and getting it to work I now can't get any of the 3 remotes to work. I have changed the dipswitches on the remotes to match the opener and nothing. I have checked and rechecked the setting over and over. I find it hard to believe that 3 remotes would all go bad at the exact same time. THe opener is model number 139.53300 and the openers are model 139.53778.
