I would try to lower the 2 rollers on the bed so the wood does NOT touch these at all,if you can,and see what happens.My small Lurem planer has no bed rollers at all and I've never experienced any snipes with it,maybe it could also work for you,I hope.Andre, The manual doesn't really help, and I did try lowering both rollers sol they were lower than the main bed, but the wood didn't get pulled through. There seems to be a very slight difference in bed levels each side of the first roller. I guess I just need to find the optimum height?I don't own that planer but typically you need to raise the extension ends up and slightly higher than the bed from my experience with other machines.Neither of the planers I've owned had bed extensions, and neither had any snipe. Go through the planer with a dial indicator, set up the chip breaker and pressure bars, as well as the infeed and outfeed rollers per the manufacturer's specifications. Bed rollers shouldn't be needed, set them below the table and wax the bed thoroughly. If the bed isn't flat, take the planer back to the vendor.Regards, Rod.His experience may be different than mine. The planer we used in the cabinet shop I worked in had a similar bed setup with idler rollers on the bottom and feed rollers on the top (I assume yours is this way), and unless we had the bottom rollers set up above the bed properly, the wood would jam. If they weren't leveled correctly we got boards that were thicker on one side than the other. The bottom rollers were adjusted to be parallel to the cutter head as part of the setup.I am with Rod on the bed rollers. Mine are set just below the bed and that is where they stay. As per the manual they come into play when skip planing and have the belts set for a faster feed rate. My concern with the feed rollers in play is that having the board rest on such a narrow surface the any descrepancy in the board on the roller side would be telegraphed on the cutter side. This would apply to rough lumber but if you were planing boards that were already surfaced and wanted to take them down further I suppose you could use the rollers, it certainly would save keeping the table waxed. As others suggested Adjust as per manual and if that does not work i would be taking it back to Calgary. Been to the Calgary store and getting an answer is like pulling teeth. BrianI also wax my planer table,using car paste wax and whipe it shinny before planing stuff,same for the jointer table.Keeping the feed rollers clean does help as well. When the wood doesn't get pulled through it's because I try to get the machine bite more than it can chew.Perhaps Mr.Balolia will pop in and give you some advice. Good luck andre Have you tried running a sacrificial piece of wood extending about six inches ahead of the wood being planed. This will eliminate snipe and is quite easy to do. Are you running a face over the jointer first. Board that are not flat will snipe. Also check there is no rock in the table, Many times the cause of sniping once everything else has been eliminated is the bed or the head movement which ever travels. Cheers, MarkThank you everyone. I will firstly try optimising the bed rollers. I did notice the maple I was using as a test wasn't totally flat. I have heard a few people mention that I need to raise the ends of both tables - one said to lay a long straight edge through the machine and raise the ends of the tables so you can get a dime under the straight edge on the bed. I will get there in the end, but I really see no need for these rollers. I have even toyed with the idea of getting a long one-piece bed machined, with lots of grooves across it to minimise contact area, and screw to the Craftex bed. This will then be like my UK machine that worked a treat!Snipe is caused by one of two things - improper adjustment of chip breaker, pressure bar and feed rollers.or - structurally deficient machine that is changing dimensions under load, such as flexing Set up the above components as per the instructions in the manual (they are there) and let us know what the results are. The other two issues with your planer are the bed rollers, and the fact that the bed isn't flat. You should adjust the bed rollers below the table if you have jointed a reference face on the wood, the rollers are to allow rough wood to run through the planer, such as when you are skip planing.
