corolla e120 service manualBad luck:( This site, like most others, needs JavaScript to function properly. Introduced in 1966, the Corolla was the best-selling car worldwide by 1974 and has been one of the best-selling cars in the world since then. In 1997, the Corolla became the best selling nameplate in the world, surpassing the Volkswagen Beetle. Toyota reached the milestone of 44 million Corollas sold over twelve generations in 2016. The series has undergone several major redesigns. The Corolla has always been exclusive in Japan to Toyota Corolla Store locations, and manufactured in Japan with a twin, called the Toyota Sprinter until 2000. From 2006 to 2018 in Japan and much of the world, and since 2018 in Taiwan, the hatchback companion has been called the Toyota Auris. Four-wheel drive versions have also been produced. The Corolla's traditional competitors have been the Nissan Sunny, introduced the same year as the Corolla in Japan and the later Honda Civic and Mitsubishi Lancer.Engine 1 796 ccm (110 cui), 4-cylinder, In-Line, 16-valves, 2ZZ-GE. Starting with the 2020 model year, every Toyota hybrid battery warranty is being increased from 8 years or 100,000 miles, to 10 years from date of first use, or 150,000 miles whichever comes first. This enhancement serves as an indication of our confidence in the quality, dependability, and reliability of our products. The HV battery may have longer coverage under emissions warranty. For Toyota hybrid vehicles beginning with model year 2020, the hybrid (HV) battery is covered for 10 years from original date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. Coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. See Owner's Warranty and Maintenance Guide for details. Most have 12-month coverage, and there aren't many, if any, companies that offer a longer guarantee. Car covers are warranted for 12 months from the date of purchase and do not assume any coverage under the Toyota New Vehicle Limited Warranty. So we thought the TCUV Warranty should be just as thorough. The HV battery may have longer coverage under emissions warranty. We also add a 1-year 24-hour Roadside Assistance Plan 4 (from original date of TCUV purchase). The four-cylinder, 1.1-liter, lower-oval engine developed 60 hp, the gearbox was four-speed, the rear suspension was spring, and the front suspension was spring-loaded, and the front suspension was independent, with a transverse spring as a spring element. The vehicle was originally sold in Denmark, and therefore has all the paper documentation (user manual, service book, etc.) written in Danish, which I do not speak. I speak excellent English and mediocre Francais and Deutsch. Also, having a service manual would be of great help as well. I could not find this documentation anywhere on the Internet, including the official portal on Toyota Europe's web page which offers users to find and download user manuals based on vehicle VIN. I get no search results there when I enter my vehicle's VIN, or a VIN of another similar Corolla. So, does anyone know where I can download electronic (probably PDF) edition of required documentation. It’s one of the best-selling cars of all time, a car which shaped the very automotive world we live in today. Very few cars have influenced the automotive industry as much as the Toyota Corolla has. Now in its twelfth generation, the new Corolla is a far cry from the original model which hit the showroom back in the mid-1960s, but it’s still got some of the essence which made the first Corolla so great. Here’s a quick look at the Corolla’s vast history and the different generations, as well as what made each of them outperform and outsell most of their rivals. Initially, it was only offered in Japan, but it found its way over to the United States two years later, in 1968.Its stand-out features made it an international best-seller. North American variants came with either a 1.1-liter or a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine, making 60 and 65 horsepower respectively. What made the Corolla so special, however, was its selling price. This would set the precedent for how the Corolla story unfolded for years to come. From here on out, Toyota would roll out a new generation every four years, and introduce a major facelift every two years. The second-gen car, also known as the E20, featured improved front suspension design for better handling, but also a slightly longer wheelbase for greater comfort. The 1.1-liter engine got the ax, but Toyota decided to retain the 1.2-liter unit with some modifications. They also introduced a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 102 horsepower, to meet the demands of an ever-growing power-hungry audience. The second-gen SR5 was also the first time Toyota decided to shoehorn a bigger and more powerful double overhead camshaft (DOHC) engine donated from a larger model into the Corolla. The E20 Corolla was the second best-selling car worldwide the year of its debut. They made it more robust, with sharper lines and more aggressive styling. As a result, sales were underwhelming in Japan, but the car sold in record-breaking numbers here in the States. The third-gen Corolla, now sporting E30 and E50 monikers, was initially offered with 1.2-liter and 1.6-liter engines, producing 55 and 75 horsepower respectively. They simplified the design of the Corolla, making it a lot more square and boxy. The end result spoke for itself. By March of 1983, Toyota had sold well over 10 million Corollas worldwide. Toyota expected the E80 to sell well, but even they couldn’t imagine what was to come next. The E80 Corolla is widely regarded as one of the most popular Corollas to date, as some 3.3 million units found their way off of Toyota’s production line. Unsurprisingly, most Corolla sales in the US consisted of the AE92 FWD sedan. The 4A-C engine found in the fifth-gen Corolla was available in two variants: a carbureted one developing 90 horsepower, and a fuel-injected model producing 112 horsepower in the form of the 4A-GE. With the E90, Toyota got rid of the rear-wheel drive variants such as the AE86, making the model essentially an FF platform. In a joint venture between GM and Toyota, they decided to rebadge the Corolla and sell it under the Geo Prizm nameplate. Although most Corollas of this generation were front-wheel drive, Toyota did offer the four-wheel drive All-trac wagon in both Base and SR5 trim level from 1988 to 1992. They’re extremely rare though and are virtually indistinguishable from AE92 sedan variants apart from larger tires. With a 97 inch wheelbase, it now occupied the space once held by the Corona and the Toyota Camry, having moved up to the compact size class. Once again, Toyota decided to go with a much more elegant and curvy exterior, getting rid of the boxy styling found on the E80. Both engines were further available in two different trim variants, but power was broadly similar across the entire engine lineup, ranging from 100 to 115 horsepower. By the end of 1997, the Corolla had become the best-selling car in history, surpassing even the VW Beetle. Although it wasn’t fundamentally different from the E100 which preceded it, Toyota did decide to give the North American E110 Corolla a different styling compared to the car found in the rest of the world. All Corollas were powered by a 1.8-liter 1ZZ-FE powerplant, making 120 to 125 horsepower depending on whether the engine was equipped with Toyota’s VVT-i technology. It was also the first time in the Corolla’s history that the engine used a timing chain instead of a timing belt. Base models came equipped with either a 3-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission, but midrange and luxury trims were also available with the smoother four-speed auto. Compared to the rest of the world, the E120 destined for North America featured a different styling, as well as a bigger, more practical body. It was based on the Corolla Altis, a model which was distributed across Southeast Asia. However, they also introduced a sporty XRS model in 2005, carrying a much more powerful 1.8-liter 2ZZ-GE engine and pushing out 170 horsepower. The 2ZZ-GE was built in collaboration with Yamaha motors and revs to 8,200 rpm, a significant redline for a Corolla. To satisfy ever-increasing needs from its customers, Toyota threw everything they had at the E140. It was a brand-new car both inside and out. It took a lot of styling cues from its bigger brother, the Camry, but it also kept some similarities with the Toyota Yaris. Overall, it was designed to be the perfect car for everyone, whether you needed a daily driver or a family hauler. Both engines were offered with either a five-speed manual or a choice of auto, a 4-speed in the case of the 2ZR-FE and a five-speed in the case of the 2AZ-FE. With the facelift in 2011, Toyota also included a new audio system with a USB port, Bluetooth, and supporting steering audio controls for said upgrades. International markets, including North America, had to wait until 2013 when the much bigger E170 model arrived. Apart from some minor visual changes, the North American version is similar to the International one. That being said, it didn’t come with diesel engines in the United States, leaving customers with a choice between two different gasoline engines. The familiar 2ZR-FE with 132 horsepower is essentially a crossover from the previous generation, but the 2ZR-FAE with 140 horsepower introduced a significant update in the form of Valvematic. In July of 2013, Toyota had officially sold over 40 million examples of the Corolla, achieving something no other manufacturer has managed to accomplish. Because it’s based on their new Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, it’s basically an all-new car with no connection to the E170. Originally introduced as a hatchback in the United States, the Corolla went on sale in late 2018 equipped with a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force engine making 169 horsepower. It’s available with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. At the moment, estimates state that Toyota is selling over 1,000 Corollas every day in the United States. Or, in other words, over 40 Corollas an hour. My email address is: What for? Understood. Disclaimer: Sedo maintains no relationship with third party advertisers. Unscrew the drain plug with a spanner wrench and carefully drain the oil into a previously prepared container. When the oil is drained, unscrew the filler (control) plug. The whole process is depicted in the photo below. If the drain and filler hole of the Toyota Corolla robot are depicted schematically, it will look like this: 5. We wrap a drain bolt. 6. Insert a suitable diameter hose with a funnel into the filler hole. 7. Fill the oil until it starts to flow out of the filler hole. About 2 liters should come in. 8. Twist the filler plug. 9. Put the protection in place. It's all. The oil change in the Toyota Corolla robot is over. Everything turned out to be very simple. Moreover, ekonymy is very insignificant, and sometimes completely absent. But do not forget that the gearbox also contains lubricant oil. In this regard, we consider in more detail the issues associated with its replacement in the 2008 Toyota Corolla manual transmission: what functions does it perform in the gearbox; Does the gearbox oil burn out and should it be refilled like in an engine; recommendations according to which the manual transmission of this model of car is serviced. Basically, the quality of the lubrication function is determined by the base, and an additional additive package only corrects and improves its performance. When the gears of the manual gearbox are engaged, a large amount of heat is generated. In a box of a vehicle in motion, the temperature fluctuates within 150 degrees Celsius, while in the very place of contact of the gears it can rise to 300 degrees. The oil poured into the manual transmission also performs a heat-removing function, while cooling parts and preventing critical overheating of the box. Also during operation, additives burn out, which in turn worsens the performance of the protective function. The result of an untimely change of lubricant is the formation of scoring in the main gear - when its gears start to make a kind of buzz; after 500-1000 kilometers, the teeth of the transmission parts cannot withstand the increased load and begin to collapse. If you do not take appropriate measures, the Corolla manual transmission may jam or completely fail. In order to maintain the performance of the transmission for a long time, a scheduled oil change should be carried out once every 50-60 thousand kilometers, and with an aggressive driving style or for cars participating in races, this period should be reduced to 30-40 thousand. The reasons for checking the level are any signs of a change in the transmission. Checking the level and then adding oil are simple operations that you can do yourself. The level check should be carried out no earlier than 10 minutes after the vehicle has completely stopped, with the engine turned off. A suitable funnel and hose can be used for topping up. To complete this task you need: Attention! Part of the work will be done under the machine, so install hemp under your car for your safety. If the car has been used, the oil will be a little warm. The remaining sediment can be additionally sucked out with a syringe with a bent tip. It can be seen under the air duct that goes from the air filter to the engine. We insert it into the hole where the second bolt was located. For a complete replacement of five mortar, approximately 1.9 liters of oil will be required, six mortar - 2.3. Manufacturers recommend performing scheduled maintenance, and after a certain mileage, fill in new working fluids. An oil change in the Toyota Corolla manual transmission is also on this list. But many drivers ask how often to change, which oil to use and others. You can find the answers in this article. Oil for a manual gearbox does have a longer life compared to a motor, but it does not last forever. Over time, the composition loses its characteristics, respectively, can not cope with the tasks. If you do not replace for a long time, during the operation of the transmission, small metal chips will form. As a result of this, the latter will spread to the details and nodes of the mechanism. As a result, the liquid will become not a lubricant, but an abrasive material, which will only accelerate the wear of gears and other parts. First, we recommend that you look into the operating manual for your car. The manufacturer advises to replace every 40 thousand kilometers for the active use of cars. If the machine is rarely used, this figure can reach 60-80 thousand kilometers. In a new car, when using synthetics or semi-synthetics, you will have to change the fluid less often. Older machines tend to use mineral oils that have a shorter lifespan. There are a number of signs that indicate the need for a replacement for a manual gearbox: Neglecting this procedure can result in costly gearbox repairs. The first are made from oil. They have the lowest cost, while being used in older cars from 90-70s. If you have a modern foreign car manufactured in 2000 (and later), then it is recommended to use synthetic or semi-synthetic products. It is necessary to use TOYOTA Getriebeoil LV 75W, since it was created specifically for this model of car, respectively, will provide high-quality protection of transmission components. If these products are too expensive, you can look at more affordable counterparts. Car owners celebrate Castrol products. The drain and filler holes are under the car, so it is recommended to put the car in a pit or use a lift. Prepare a set of ratchet wrenches, 5 liter containers for used oil. If any problems remain, contact the workshop. Perhaps this is due to a malfunction in the gearbox. The procedure does not present any special difficulties, while it takes from 30 to 60 minutes. All your expenses come down to buying a new oil. Car owners will be able to save on car service. Replace on time to extend transmission life. Now we will analyze the example of the most popular car generations. Toyota Corolla X The tenth generation of Toyota Corolla was produced from 2006 to 2010 (restyling from 2010 to 2013) in E140 and E150 bodies, equipped with a 5 and 6 speed manual transmission, automatic gearbox or robot, as well as a variator. Gasoline and diesel engines with power from 90 - 136 hp were installed on the cars of the model range. Treat a C-Class car. Manual transmission As for the manual transmission, 1.9 or 2.3 liters are poured here. You can also navigate by the installed engine. 4ZZ-FE and 3ZZ-FE (gasoline) - 1.9 liter transmission; 2ZZ-GE (gasoline) - 2.3; 1CD-FTV (diesel) - 2.5. TOYOTA Manual Transmission Gear Oil GL-4 75w-90 GL 4 - 08885-81026. By API, this is GL4 or GL5. According to SAE - 75W-90. Here is an excerpt from the manual. For example, there is not a bad analogue - ZIC GFT 75w-90. Here it is necessary to focus on the ATF specification. Other oils can be used as an analogue, for example, Mobil ATF 3309, CASTROL Transmax or TOTAL FLUIDE XLD FE. There are many similar oils for automatic transmissions on the market, so it makes no sense to list them all, the main thing is that they fit the above specification (ATF), but it’s better to pour the original oils. Replacement can be made, either partially or completely. In the first case, when the working fluid is not very dirty and is replaced manually, it may take up to 4 liters. With flushing it will take a full 8. In the second case, when the replacement occurs with the help of the device on the service, it may be necessary already from 10 to 12 liters. Variable speed drive As for the Aisin K311 variator, which is mounted on a car in an E150 body, the Toyota CVT Fluid TC transmission fluid is poured here - according to the article 08886-02105 (for a warm climate) or Toyota CVT Fluid FE (for working in low temperatures) in an amount of about 10 liters (you need 3 cans of 4 liters.). TC oil is more viscous. Robot As for the oil in the Toyota Corolla X robot box, 1.9 or 2.4 (for a six-speed unit) liter of the original is poured into it Genuine Manual Transmission Gear Oil LV - article 08885-81001. Here the same specifications are maintained - according to API GL-4 and SAE 75. Analogs exist, for example, the German RAVENOL MTF-3 SAE 75W or Castrol Syntrax Longlife 75W-90 but still it’s better to pour an analog. Toyota Corolla IX The ninth generation of Toyota Corolla in the back of the E120 was produced from 2000 to 2005. A car with a 4ZZ-FE engine (97 hp - 1.4 liters) was equipped only with a manual transmission, and with 3ZZ-FE engines (110 hp - 1.6 liters) and a forced 2ZZ-GE with VVT-L (215 liters).s. - 1.8 l.) - automatic transmission. As in the tenth generation, the general approach to choosing oil for replacement in gearboxes (mechanics and automatic) is the same. But there are some nuances. Manual transmission As for mechanical gearboxes, many here recommend pouring the original TOYOTA LV 75W oil and this is basically correct. For replacement, immediately prepare at least 2 liters. (norm 1.9). But you can go the other way. We already know that the manufacturer recommends pouring GL4 or GL5 oils into the transmission (API specification). These are hypoid oils and, as a rule, they are poured into gearboxes; they can also disable synchronizers. Yes, and according to the SAE specification, they do not fit (75W-90). Many praise the BARDAHL 75W90 synthetic transmission oil, as it has not proved itself very well, but it’s better to pour analogues (our opinion).
