Impor t video clips to the Librar y Let’ s start with the most common si tuation—the shoot is done an d you’ve transferr ed your v i d e o c l i p s a n d p h o t o s f r o m y o u r c a m e r a t o y o u r c o m p u t e r. W e c a n open Cor el V ideoS tudio, and jump directly to the Edit workspace and the Library. The Library is the source for all your media, including video clips, photo s, a nd m us ic. It al s o houses templates, transitions, effects, and a variety o f other media assets that you can use in your project s. The Librar y panel appears in the upper right corner o f the application. 2 Creat e a folder for your project t o keep all your videos t ogeth er by clicking the Add a new folder button. 3 T ype a name for the folder. 4 At the t op of the Librar y, click the Impor t Media F iles button, select the video clips and photos that you want to use, and click Open. Note that the but tons at the to p o f the Librar y can be enabled and disabled to f ilter the t h u m b n a i l s b y v i d e o, p h o t o s, a n d m u s i c. I f y o u d o n ’ t s e e t h e m e dia you expect to see, check the stat e of these media buttons. Add your clips and photos Adding clips a nd photos to a vide o project is as easy as draggi ng thumbnails for the vid eo clips and photos that you want t o use from the Librar y to the T imeline. If you’r e looking for a way to ge t polished re sults quickly, yo u can use an Instant Project template. For mor e information, see “Using Instant Pr oject templates” on p age 49. 3 After you review the clip, drag the orange Tr i m M a r k e r from the original starting p o s i t i o n t o t h e n e w s t a r t i n g p o s i t i o n. T h e Scrubber m o v e s t o t h e s e l e c t e d f r a m e a n d t h i s frame displays in the Preview W indow. 1. Trim Marker (one on each end). 2. Scrubber. 4 Now drag the second Tr i m M a r k e r from the original end position to the new end position. 5 Click Play. Note: Changes made to f iles impor ted into the Librar y do not affect the original f iles. Y ou can also trim video clips in the T imeline itself by dragging the end handles o f a clip. 2 1 T r y Multi-T rim V ideo. Add titles Now let’ s add a title. 1 Drag the Scrubber to the position you want. 2 Click the Ti t l e but ton to the left of the Librar y thumbnails. 3 Y ou can type directly in the Preview W indow, but the easiest way to get a pro fessional- looking title, is to drag one of the title th umbnails from the Librar y to the T itle track in the T imeline. 4 Y o u c a n d r a g t h e t i t l e t o a n y p o s i t i o n i n t h e T itle track a n d a d j u s t t h e d u r a t i o n o f t h e t i t l e by dragging the end handles o f the clip. 5 T o edit the title text, double -click the title clip in the T imeline, in the Preview W indow, select the text an d type new text. K eep the t ext inside the box that displays near the edges o f the Preview W indow (called the T itle Safe area). 6 The Options panel displays to the right o f t he Librar y thumbnails. On the Edit p age of the Optio ns pa ne l, u s e a ny of t he c on t ro l s t o fo r ma t yo u r ti t l e t e xt. F or example, you c an align the text and change the font, size, and color. T ransi tions can be used to fade in or fade out or to dissolve one photo int o the next. There ar e m any t ransition options t o choose from. 1 In the Librar y, click the Tr a n s i t i o n button.http://drbenromdhane.com/userfiles/dsc-hx1-manual-portugues.xml 2 Click the G aller y drop-list at the top of the Librar y, and choose All if you want to see what is available. 3 D r a g t h e t h u m b n a i l fo r t h e t r a n s i t i o n y o u w a n t to t h e T imeline a n d p l a c e i t b e t w e e n t w o clips or photos. If you want to apply the same tr ansition between all clips and photos in the track, in the Librar y, right -click the transition thumbnai l, and choose Apply current effect to video track. Y ou will be warned about rep lacing any existing transitions. Add music Y ou can add song s from your comp uter by dragging a music f ile f rom t he Librar y to the Music track. Y ou can al so use Auto Music to choose royalty-f ree music to y our project. 1 On the T im eline tool bar, click the Auto Music button. 1 In the Auto Music area that displays in the Options panel, experiment with differ ent choices in the drop-list s and click Play selected Song to lis ten t o the selection. 2 T o add your selection to the T imeline, click Add to T imeline. 3 The music is ad ded to the Music track, and as with other clips, y ou can drag it to a new position in the T imeline and trim it by dragging the end handles. 4 T o fade the music at the end o f your project, click the Fad e - o u t but ton in the Auto Music area. N o t e t h a t w i t h a n y a u d i o c l i p s, o r v i d e o c l i p s t h a t i n c l u d e s o u nd, you can control the volume of the clips. Media clips can be recor ded or i mpor ted directly to y our c omput er' s hard drive in the Capture works pace. This workspace allows you to capture and impor t video, photo, and audio clips. Using the Player panel The Player panel consis t s of the Preview window and the Navigat ion area, which pr ovides buttons for play back and for pr ecision tri mming o f clips. Use t he co ntrols in the Navigation a r e a t o m o v e a ro u n d a s e l e c t e d c l i p o r y o u r p r o j e c t. U s e t h e Tr i m M a r k e r s a n d Scrubber to edit your clips. In the Capture wo rk s pa c e, th is pa ne l a l so ac ts as t h e d ev i ce co nt ro l f or a DV or HDV camcorder. The Player panel consists of the 1. Preview Window and the 2. Navigation area 1 2 The type of edit s depend on the con t ent and tool that y ou select. Smar t guides S m a r t g u i d e s a r e a l i g n m e n t l i n e s t h a t s h o w a u t o m a t i c a l l y w h e n y ou select and move objects in the preview window. For example, if you move text in the pre view window, Smar t guides help you identify the project ce nter or edge, or the alignment r elative to other object s. Smart guides appear as red dashed lines to help you align the selected object in the Preview window. The Navigation area The table below describes the con tr ols available in the Navigat ion ar ea. End Moves to the end segment or cue. R epeat Loops play back. System V olume Lets you adjust the volume o f your comput er' s speakers by dr agging a slider. While working on your pr oject, you will want to pr eview your wo rk fr equently to see how yo u r p ro j e c t i s p r o g re s s i n g. Instant Playback allows you to quickly preview changes in your project. Playb ack quality will be depend ent on your comput er ’ s resou rces. Y ou may choose to play only a par t o f your project. The select e d range o f frames to preview is r eferr ed to a s the pr eview range, and it is mark ed as a color ed bar in the Ruler P anel. HD Preview and 360 Preview drop-list Lets you preview cl ips or projects in high def in ition (HD) or 360 degr ee (360). Change project a spect ratio Lets you change the aspec t ratio (upda tes the projec t settings). T im ecode Lets you jump directly to a p art of your pr oject or selected clip by s pecifying the exact time code. Enlarge Preview Wi n d o w Increa ses the size o f the Pr eview W indow. Split Clip Splits the select ed clip. P osition the Scrubber to where y ou want the clip to be split, and then click this button. Mark -in and Mark -out Se ts a pr eview range in the pr oject, or set s the st ar t and end point s for trimming a clip. Pa r t D es c r ip t i on Y ou can change your pr oject view, z oom in and out on the T im eline, and launch differ ent too ls that can he lp you edit eff iciently. Y ou can cus tomize the t oolbar by showing or hiding tools. Pa r t D e s c r i p t io n S tor yboar d V iew Displays your media thumb nails in chronological or der. T imeli ne V iew Lets you perform fr am e-accurate e diting of your cl ips on separat e tracks, add and position other elements such as titles, overla ys, voice- over and music. Customize T oolbar Lets you hide o r show individual toolbar tools. Undo Undoes the last action. Re d o Re p e a ts t h e l a s t a c t i o n t h a t w as u n d o n e. Auto Music Launches the Auto Mus ic Options P anel for adding b ack ground music to your pr oject in a v arie ty o f styles and moods. Y ou can set the music to match the duration of your pr oject. T rack Motion Launches the T rack M otion dialog box, which l et s yo u create tracking paths of p articular elements in selecte d video clips. Subtitle Editor Launches the Subt itle Editor dialog box, which l ets you det ect and organize s egments to easily add titles in selected vide o cl ips. Multi-Camera Editor Launches the Multi-Camera Edit or and imports any o f the selected media. T ime Remapping Launches the T ime R emapp ing dialog b ox, which let s you use s p ee d c o nt r ol s to s l o w do w n, s p ee d u p, r e ve r s e, o r f re e ze f r a m e s in a video clip. Mask Cre ator Launches the Mask Cr eator dialog box, which le ts yo u cr eate video and still masks. P an and Zoom 3D T itle Editor Split Screen T emplate Creator Zoom in and Zoom out Lets you a djust your view of the Ti me l i ne by using the zoom slider a nd but tons. Customizing the workspace The new workspace is designed to provide you with a better edit i n g e x p e r i e n c e. Yo u c a n n o w customize the size o f the program window and change the size an d position of the elements on your screen for full contr ol o f your edit ing environment. Each panel behav es like an independent window that can be modif ied according to your editing pref erences. This is very useful when you are using lar ge dis plays or dual monitors. The main panels ar e: 1. Player panel — Cont ains the Pr eview W indow and Navigation area. 2. T imeline panel — Contains the T oolbar and T i meline. 3. Librar y panel — Cont ains the media librar y and shares space with the Options panel. Project Duration Shows the to tal duration o f the project. Pa r t D e s c r i p t io n 1 2 3 You can also drag the panel outs ide the main application window into the second display area for dual-monitor setups. To d o c k a p a n e l 1 Click and hold an active panel. The docking guide appears. 2 Drag your mouse over the docking g uide and choose a docking pos ition t o snap the panel in place.Changing the application language Y ou can change the application language of V ideoS tudio.The table below discusses the options in the Cap ture workspace. Capturing videos and photos The steps on how to capture are s imilar for all types o f camcor ders except for the available capture settings in the Capture V ideo Options panel that can be select ed for each type o f source. The Capture V ideo Op tions pane l consists o f the following compo nent s: Click Capture V ideo to import video footage and pho tos from your camcorder to your computer. Click DV Quick Scan to scan your DV tape and select the scenes. Click Import from Digi tal Media t o add media clips fr om a DVD-V ideo, A VCHD, BDMV formatte d disc or from your hard drive. This fea ture also allow s you to import video directly fr om A VCHD, Blu-ray Disc or DVD camcorders. Click S top Motion to creat e instant s top motion animati ons using cap tured images from your phot os and video capture device s. Click Screen Capture to creat e screen captur e videos that capture all computer acti ons and element s sho wn on your scre en. In the Capture folder box, type a folder location or mark the Capture to librar y check box and choose a folder from the drop- list. Note: Click Options to cus tomize capture settings s pecif ic to your video device. 5 Scan your video to sear ch the part for cap ture. Note: If you are cap turing video from a DV or HDV cam corder, use the Navigation ar ea to play your video t ape. 6 Click Captur e V ideo, when your video for capture is already on cue. Note: When your camcorder is in R ecord mode (usually named CAMERA or MOVIE ), you can capture live video. Note: The av ailable settings in the V ideo pr operties dialog box v ar y, depending on the capture f ile format that you have chosen. T o capture videos and phot os using a DSLR 1 Connect your DSLR to your compu t er and turn on the device. Note: For Sony HDV camcorders, flip o pen the L CD screen and see if HDV out I-Link is on the L CD screen t o check if th e camera is se t to HDV mode. If you see DV out I-Link, press P-MENU at the lower right o f the screen. T o capture DVB-T video 1 In the Capture workspace, click Capture V ideo. Note: B ef ore c ap tu ri ng, en sure t ha t th e DVB-T source is connect ed via a compa tible capture card installed on y our computer. 2 Select Digital TV Source from the Source dr op-list. 3 Click Options and select V ideo Proper ties. The V ideo properties dialog box will appear. 4 In the Input Sour ce tab, select TV fr om the Input source dr op-list. Click OK. 5 In Channel List, click St ar t Scan to start scanning for channels. Note: DVB-T channels are not automatic ally scanned. Mak e sure t o manu ally scan the channels f irst before capturing. 6 Click Capture V ideo. 7 Click Ye s when prompted if y ou want to start cap turing and automatically r ecovering DVB-T video. 8 Follow the remaining steps a s de scribed in the procedur e for ca pturing videos. If needed, adjust the settings accordingly. T o capture video in MPEG-2 format 1 In Source, choose your video sour ce. 2 Specify or browse for the destina tion folder where you want you r clips to be stored in Capture folder. 3 Click Options and sel ect V ideo properties. In the dialog bo x that opens, select a pro f ile in the Current Pro f ile dr op-list. 4 Click OK. 5 Click Captur e Video to start capturing and St o p C a p t u r e to e nd yo u r c a p tu ri n g s e ss io n. Y our media clip will be s tor ed as MPEG-2 format in the f older y ou specif ied. Capturing digital video (DV) T o capture Digit al V ideo (DV) in it s native format, select DV fro m the Format lis t in the Options Panel. This sa ve s the captured video a s a DV A VI f ile (.avi). Y ou can also use the DV Quick Scan op tion to capture DV vi deo DV A VI T ype-1 and T ype-2. W h e n c a p t u r i n g D V, c l i c k Options in the Options Panel and select V ideo proper ties to open a menu.
