coo coo clock manualThe cuckoo clocks have been packed carefully and have been secured in many ways in order to arrive undamaged in all parts of the world. Some of the transport safety preparations have to be removed before you can set up your new cuckoo clock. There are slight differences between cuckoo clocks with music and without music and also concerning night shut off and the style of the cuckoo clock (chalet cuckoo clock or carved cuckoo clock). Also between the different manufacturers there are small differences. The pendulum and the weights (music clocks have 3 weights and clocks without music have 2 weights) are also in the carton. Sometimes the weights are not in the same box to prevent shipping damages. Please inspect the shipping box if it seems that the weights of your cuckoo clock are missing. 4. Carefully remove the cuckoo clock from the carton by holding the clock frame. Do not pull the figurines or any other decoratice attachement. This might cause damage to the clockwork. Please note that a cuckoo clock, because of the chains, needs to hang 1,8 -2,0 meters (6-7 feet) above the floor. This height is necessary to give maximum extension to the chains. Use a strong srew with a plug and fix it with a small angle into the wall. Position it far enough from the wall to secure the cuckoo clock properly. Make sure the clock is hanging 100 horizontally, straight and flush on the wall to make sure the pendulum is not touching the case. The cuckoo clock must be in a perpendicular way. There are certain places in the house which are not appropriate for cuckoo clocks. Please see the last paragraph for more information. Please pay greatest attention that the cuckoo clock is not turned upside down during the next steps once you have removed the reteining wires. Remove any knots from the chains and pull out the retaining wire totally. Adjust the clock on the wall to achieve an even tick tock.http://ptoyasenevo.ru/userfiles/dremel-advantage-rotary-saw-manual.xml

To achieve an even tick tock move the case carefully from side to side (ie level horizontally) until it has an even sound. For setting the correct time turn the minute hand (long hand) slowly forward or backwards until the hour and minute hand show the correct time. Never turn the hour hand! Some cuckoo clocks have an adjusting screw instead which moves the bob up and down.If you have a 1-day clock, pull each chain down slowly to raise the weight. When winding up an 8-day clock support the weight with your hand while pulling up. Always pull the chains, never the weights of your cuckoo clock. Pulling the weights can result in severe damage to the pulleys. Position I is off and position III is on. Cuckoo clocks with automatic night shut off have 3 options. Position I is permanently on, Position 2 is automatic night shut off from 09:00 PM till 08:00 AM and Position 3 is permanently off. Cuckoo clocks do not need much regular care. The modern movements are sophisticated, easy to maintain and durable. For cleaning the clock please use a soft dry paint brush. Please have the movement checked and oiled at regular intervals by a clockmaker nearby to gain a maximum life span. To avoid reducing the lifetime of your cuckoo clock please only use the clock in standard room temperatures. Also please do not hang the cuckoo clock above a heater or above a fire place as the very dry and warm air might distort the wooden parts and the oil in the bearings of the clock movement might run “dry”. Please also note that some 8 day clocks will run inaccurate if the are placed close to draft air (window etc.). It is very important to apply exactly the procedure described therein. Also take out the loose accessories such as carved head-piece, pendulum, weights also Please do not open the small paper-bag fixed to the bottom of the clock! Bring a nail or a screwdriver into the slit (B) and gently lift out the back panel. Please take care that no wire of the clock will be bent or damaged.http://sterenstein.ru/userfiles/dremel-675-manual.xml Possible knots in the chains should be undone very cautiously.Hang the pendulum in the wire loop in the middle of the case bottom (Fig. 9) and the weights in the chain-hooks.Do never move the hour-hand (small hand). If you turn the minute-hand around to the right you have to await the end of the cuckoo-strikes released by the half and full hour marks; thereafter you may go on turning around the minute-hand. In case of a music-clock always the end of the music must be awaited. For starting the clock gently push the pendulum to one side. The clock hangs in the right position when the “tick-tack” of the pendulum is proportionate. The accurate time of the clock can be regulated by the pendulum. If the clock gains time, push the pendulum-disc downwards on the pendulum-bar; Discount Prices and guaranteed brand new VDS certified Cuckoo Clocks with free shipping. See out the selection at. Music clocks have three weights and clocks without music have two. Do not pull the figurines or any other decorative attachment. Do not bend any of the wire connections. This might cause damage to the clockwork. Hanging a clock by anchoring it directly into a stud is the best and most secure way to mount your cuckoo clock It is generally recommended that you use a screw with a minimum of 2 inches in length for going through the drywall and into a stud. It is also recommended that the screw have a large head and be installed at a slight downward angle as shown below. This is the most secure way to hang your cuckoo clock. Please note that a cuckoo clock, because of the chains, needs to hang 1,8 -2,0 meters (6-7 feet) above the floor. This height is necessary to give maximum extension to the chains. The clock is traditional and has an antique feel to it. The chimes melody is very pleasant and comforting. We ask ourselves: How can we move towards green manufacturing without compromising on quality. It’s not just about good business. It’s about being mindful of our Earth.” - Chad Eby, President, Hermle North America. Here are the steps in specific order to quickly set up your cuckoo clock in a few short minutes. Click here for details on How to Hang your Cuckoo Clock Be sure to let the cuckoo and music run its full cycle before advance the minute hand again. You can repeat this process as many times as you like to witness the wonder of your new cuckoo clock. You can advance the time freely if they are off. This may take a little time and several times around the dial to get to the hour you want. Always set the time with the minute hand and do not manually advance the hour hand. Once you know how many minutes you have lost or gained in the 4 hour time period, multiply that by 6 to determine how many minutes are being gained or lost over a 24 hour period. This means we are losing 30 minutes over a 24 hour period. Now let's adjust your clock. If your clock is running slow you will need to move the slide up. If your clock is running fast you will need to move the slide down. How far you will need to move the pendulum slide depends on how fast or slow your clock is running. Make minor adjustments over time until you get you clock dialed in with precision. It may take a little patience and tinkering but you'll have it down before you know it. It should stick out by about 1.25 to 1.5 inches (3.2 to 3.8 cm). The clock must be flush against the wall. Pull out the security wire between them. Do not handle the chains in this manner while the clock is horizontal or upside down since doing so can cause the chains to come loose. This can cause damage to your clock. You should also make sure that the shut-off switch is not flipped into a silent position (when applicable) and that all clips, rubber bands, and Styrofoam packing materials have been removed from inside the clock. There must always be some pressure on the weighted chain in order to keep it in place within the clock. If this is not the case, then the clock probably isn't completely vertical. Readjust and try again. If the clock does not tick evenly on both sides, you should readjust the straightness of the clock until the ticking sounds even. Turn the long hand of the clock to the left until you reach the correct time. There is no need to pause and check the sound. Wait for the call or music to stop before continuing. Stick with a watch or similar device that has always been reliable in the past. If the clock runs too fast, slow it down by carefully moving the pendulum bob downward. If the clock runs too slow, speed it up by carefully pushing the pendulum bob up.Pull the unweighted chain down to raise the weighted chain up as high as it will go without resistance. The cuckoo noise of some clocks can be switched of manually as desired. This can vary by model, though, so you may need to check with the manufacturer to verify the correct way to use the manual shut-off switch. It can be especially rare for vintage or antique cuckoo clocks. However, if the gears are sticking, a dry graphite lubricant can be helpful. You can use an oil-based cleanser to clean the wood casing of the clock and give it a nice sheen. For example, you might display it in your family room or living room. Hang it 6.5-7 feet (about 2 meters) up on the wall for best viewing and to allow you to wind the clock easily. To avoid damaging your clock, make sure not to hang it in an area where it will be exposed to high humidity or lots of direct sunlight throughout the day. Then, look at the chains and locate the weight hooks. Find the opposite end of each chain and pull it down so that the weight hook hangs approximately 3 inches (7.6 cm) from the bottom of the clock. Finally, carefully attach the weights to the hooks. If your cuckoo clock has three weights, the heaviest one goes farthest to the right (the other two should be the same weight). If I wind it 2-3 times a day, will it cause any type of damage to the cuckoo clock? Just be gentle. The spindle is a shaft with an outer sleeve. The hour hand fits onto the sleeve and the minute hand fits the shaft, secured with a small nut.Do NOT use the little wire on the cuckoo door to latch it shut. That is only for transporting the clock, and closing it while the clock is operating can damage the movement. Replace the weights and set the clock correctly. If that does not work, take it to a shop for repairs. Hang the pendulum in the wire loop in the middle of the case bottom and the weights in the chain-hooks. The clock must be placed in a correct vertical position so that the pendulum can swing freely and hands should move by now.How can we get it to cuckoo? Move the minute hand clockwise until the hands point to the hour which the cuckoo just called. Replace the right weight. Set the hands to the correct time, pull up the weights and start the clock. How can I fix this? The inner workings of the clock are delicate and precise, so applying too much force can cause the clock to break. This article has been viewed 117,798 times.Start with the clock hanging vertically on the wall. Then, wind the clock by gently pulling the chain without a weight on it towards the floor. Gently nudge the pendulum to one side to the clock starts ticking. Finally, turn the minute hand to the left until you reach the correct time. Never turn the hour hand, since this can damage your clock. For more tips, including how to speed up or slow down a cuckoo clock, read on! When you purchased your clock you would have received some written instructions. We recommend that you read them and the contents of this page before beginning to unpack your new heirloom. Each clock comes in its own specially made carton and rarely suffers any damage during transit. During the production process the clock passed several quality controls to ensure a perfect functioning. We at Black Forest Hill also check the operation of each clock before despatching them. If, nevertheless the clock should not work, please ensure you have followed these instructions before phoning us for assistance. Open the cardboard box on the top by carefully cutting the adhesive tape from one end to the other with a cutter. Place the cutter in just far enough to cut the tape. Don’t cut in too deep as you could damage the carving of your new clock. Carefully remove the packing in order not to damage the more delicate wooden pieces of the clock. When removing the clock from the carton, it is best to support it by the roof never by the carvings or figurines. Clocks without carvings may be taken out by the bottom panel. Remove the loose accessories such as pendulum, weights etc. Do not open the small paper-bag fixed to the bottom of the clock, this will be done later. Double check the empty box and place all parts on a table and ensure all parts are there.Note:If you purchased a clock with music, you will have three weights. You may require the assistance of another person holding the clock or alternately place the clock face down on a soft towel. (Any breakages will not covered under Warranty) Keep the clamps, chime paper, and the cardboard box in a safe place for possible transportation in the future. Notice the wire across the front of the little cuckoo door. Turn this wire to the side. This will allow the door to open and the cuckoo to come out. Mark the place where you want to put the clock with a pencil at a height of at least 2 metres from the floor. Put a large screw into the wall stud at an upward angle. Ideally the screw should hang out 1 to 2 cms. If you have a brick wall you will require a plug or dowel to fix the screw. NEVER use a picture hook or attempt to hang your clock from a nail or screw that is not located in a wall stud. DO NOT hang your clock using the holes in the removable door. Take care to hang up the clock straight. Wind will invariably stop the pendulum. Once undone, each chain should hang all the way down to the floor. You may require professional assistance to rectify this problem. Costly damage may result by pulling on a jammed chain. This will however require you to wind the clock more often. Many clocks have been returned for repairs because children have pulled on the chains. Hang the pendulum onto the wire loop in the middle of the long hole at the bottom of the clock case. Then hang the weights on the chain-hooks. See the photograph below. Your clock is now ready for operation. NEVER move the hour-hand (small hand). If you turn the minute-hand around to the right, always wait for the end of the cuckoo-striking on the half and full hour. In the case of a music-clock, always wait for the end of the music. If you have to wind the hands for several hours it is advisable to turn the cuckoo sound off (option available on selected models) so you don’t have to wait every half hour. A handle is either at the bottom of the clock or at its left side when hanging on the wall. To listen to the sound again you have to pull the handle or push it down. Do not move the silencing handle while the cuckoo calls or the music plays. Slowly moving it back, with the pendulum going, you will notice as the clock becomes straighter, the tick-tock becomes more uniform. If your clock is an 8 Day, lifting the weight slightly as you wind, will ensure your clock mechanism will last for many years. And visa versa, move the leaf upwards to make the clock faster. Hang the pendulum back up and allow 24 hours before making further fine adjustments. If it is not, please ensure you have carefully followed these instructions before contacting us. Remember, the only way to be sure you have an authentic Black Forest Cuckoo Clock is from the seal of quality and authenticity you'll see on all our products. Video 1: Unwrapping and Hanging Your Cuckoo Clock Then take out the manual and read it thoroughly. After the box is open, carefully take out the clock. Depending on the type of cuckoo clock, you may need to remove additional parts, for example:Double-check you have removed all of the parts from the packaging. Before hanging your clock, open the back and remove:Usually, you will need a good size screw inserted at an angle, anchored into a stud. We recommend you hang your clock approximately seven feet high in a windless spot. After hanging your clock on the wall, open the paper package on the bottom, which holds the chains for the drive mechanism. Remove the wire threaded through the chain links. Hang the pendulum into the wire loops, positioned in the long hole at the bottom of the cuckoo clock’s body. Next, carefully place the weights into the provided hooks. Depending on the clock, you’ll also need to open the latch in front of the cuckoo's door. If you have bought a clock with a “turn off” switch for the sound, you need to make sure it is turned on. On some clocks, this switch is located on the side. Others have a black wire loop that hangs below. Push the pendulum once, and your clock is fully operational. Please listen closely to the swing of the pendulum. Check if it swings to the right in the same amount of time as it does to the left. If this is not the case, carefully adjust the clock's position on the wall until the tick-tock of the pendulum becomes regular. Also, check if your clock is hanging straight, visually. If it is not, but the tick-tock of the pendulum is regular, the pendulum was most likely bent during the unwrapping process. There is a small adjustment to the pendulum wire that will correct the problem. The pendulum wire is the wire on which the pendulum hangs, located in the long hold on the bottom of the body. If your clock hangs too much to the left, take a wide screwdriver and bend the pendulum wire slightly to the left. If the clock is hanging too much to the right visually — but the pendulum is ticking regularly — slightly bend the pendulum wire to the right. Your cuckoo clock should now function faultlessly. If this is not the case, check to see if the hands are touching each other by turning the minute hand clockwise. If this is the case and they are touching, then your clock will always stop working when the two hands meet each hour. To fix the problem, simply push the smaller hour hand toward the clock face. You can adjust the accuracy of the pendulum by sliding the pendulum bulb up and down. If your clock is slow, slide the bulb up a little. If your clock is fast, slide the bulb down. Now your cuckoo clock should function perfectly. The paper around the chains — as well as the security wire — should be removed and the weights mounted. Check you have removed the clips from both pipes and the security paper from the coil wire. On some clocks, this switch is located on the side. Others have a black wire loop that hangs below. If the music of the music box does not stop playing automatically after the call of the cuckoo but continues to play, there's a problem with the bent brass lever that cannot grip the hole on the side of the walls correctly, which would stop the music.Use a caliper to bend the brass lever so it can grip the hole and, therefore, stop the music. If the release force on the brass lever is too large, then the clockwork cannot start the music. There's a white rubber stopper on the lever that you should push approximately 1 32nd of an inch downwards. If the end of the wire that grips into the fan fly is bent, there are three possible results:The wire should then be bent into a position where it does not touch the fan fly while inactive but prevents the music box turning before and while the cuckoo is calling. This means it's not attached to the arbor on the clockwork correctly. Tighten the attachment screw on the arbor. If the music is still not playing, then the releasing wire above the music box may be bent. Bend this wire until it is just over the brass lever while inactive. The cuckoo clock is driven by the weights hanging on a chain. The chains wrap around a chain gear that drives the internal gears of the clock. Over time the weights slowly drop to the ground. The weights are pulled back up when they reach the floor and this rewinds the clock. On the half hour, the cuckoo calls once and on the full hour, the cuckoo calls the number of the hours. If the clock also has music, the music will play at the full hour after the cuckoo has called. How does a quartz cuckoo clock work. The quartz cuckoo clock is driven by batteries, so the weights are only for decoration. The battery's running time is about one year, so the maintenance of a quartz cuckoo clock is minimal as the only thing you need to do is to change the batteries. We recommend you choose a quartz cuckoo clock if it is to hang in an inaccessible place. The quartz cuckoo clocks with music plays 12 different melodies, with the tune changing every hour. What Is a One Day Cuckoo Clock. A one day cuckoo clock is a mechanical cuckoo clock where the weights take 24 hours to reach the ground. So you have to wind the clock and pull the weights up once every day. What is a 8 day cuckoo clock. A 8 day cuckoo clock is a mechanical cuckoo clock where the weights take one week to reach the ground. So you have to wind the clock and pull the weights up once a week. How Do I Decide What Type of Cuckoo Clock to Buy. First of all, consider the movement. Do you prefer a mechanical cuckoo clock driven by the weights or a battery-operated quartz cuckoo clock. If you select a mechanical cuckoo clock, please decide if you prefer a one day cuckoo clock or an 8 day cuckoo clock. Please also make sure the clock comes with the VDS Black Forest Clock Association Certificate. This document certifies the authenticity and the origin of the clock. If you select a quartz cuckoo clock, the clock is also made in the Black Forest Germany as we only sell original cuckoo clocks from the Black Forest. The next step is to decide if you also like music. Then you have to decide which style you prefer. There are carved cuckoo clocks, chalet cuckoo clocks and modern cuckoo clocks. The next step is to choose the animation of the clock. Do you like some moving parts other than the cuckoo. The night shut off is also worth thinking about. Most mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual night shut off. Some cuckoo clocks in the upper price range have an automatic night shut off. This means the clock is automatically silent at night. The quartz cuckoo clocks have an automatic night shut off controlled through a brightness sensor. What Is the VDS Black Forest Clock Association. We are a proud member of the VDS Black Forest Clock Association. Every mechanical cuckoo clock that comes with this certificate is manufactured in the Black Forest, Germany, with the same types of mechanics and components used 300 years ago.
