Choose from Facebook, Twitter, email or open your comic in another app as a PDF.I have a couple of requests. Could you give us an option to make a custom page size, along with the option to have a transparent background. I try to export the speech balloons to my art program (on my iPad), but the JPEG makes it too blurry and the paper dimensions are inaccurate. I use this app to add speech balloons and effects to an already existing comic (image), but once it’s saved, the quality drops. Is it possible for me to save the word balloons as a transparent PNG image. If you could add these features, that’d mean the entire world to me. Thank you so much!:) The last straw for Comic Draw was the lack of even a basic grid to help with reference and alignments. So bought this app thinking it would be a better companion to Procreate. The idea was I could script and layout my panels, export page layouts to Procreate, sketch and ink my art, export the page as an image, and import back into Comic Life to add page textures and text. It works great. for the first page in the Comic. What ruins what could be an otherwise good workflow is that while Comic Draw can export an individual page as an image to another app. Comic Life only supports the ability to export the first page in the comic. I can’t find anyway to work around this. I will pass it all onto the plasq team for consideration. Comic Life does export all pages - but some apps might only accept the first page. Sorry for the inconvenience - hope this work-around helps for now. Thank you. Is one of few that delivers the subtleties and nuances of a desk top app. What a great program. Posts are moderated before they're published on the site. For kids under 13 to register, a parent has to physically sign and return an approval form -- otherwise kids won't be able to post on the message boards. They'll also learn how to establish a character, set a scene, and write dialogue. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to share creations with each other. Kids can't get feedback on how to improve their comics unless they upload them to another site and post a link on the forums that are hosted on the Comiclife.com website -- and not many kids do this, which is a shame. Comic Life is a good way for amateur cartoonists to get started, but feedback and sharing options would be a great source of further inspiration and encouragement. You'll need to use ready-made images, either stock art, pictures you've drawn using other programs, or snapshots from your computer's webcam. Images can be color-corrected, and kids can add dialogue captions. Comic Life’s third version provides a few new effects including the ability to knock out image backgrounds. Users can post questions to the forums on the manufacturer's site; kids can easily export finished comics to Facebook or other locations. Users can download the application, now in its third version (Comic Life 3), from the Comic Life website, which also features a blog with tips and information about using the program in schools. But surprisingly, few users share their creations, possibly because you can't post anything without registering, and there's a strict parent-permission policy for kids under 13. Parents might want to help teens make sure all possible profile-privacy controls are set -- the boards are pretty clean, but default settings let users message each other, and kids could easily list their locations or share other personal information in their profiles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems are you solving with the product. What benefits have you realized. I needed some basic comics for an independent film project and Comic Life was perfect to use. It was fast and east to figure out. The design is so intuitive that if you have any experience with any design programs, the learning curve is practically zero. The very first time I fired Comic Life up, it was instant fun. Now that I've created a few cool projects with it, I'm thinking more and more in terms of, this would make a cool Comic Life image, whether it be an advertisement, a help file or training manual or even maybe a political post or two. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More Recommendations to others considering the product: Realize that it's fun enough to use that you could spend more hours futzing around with the software than you planned on. Advertisements, help files and training manuals all lend themselves quite nicely to Comic Life. With this program I found the way to give a creative image to my presentations, invitations or messages on social networks. It is easy to use, it has many templates or design options, I can download the images or photos from my PC or choose to take a screenshot. It also allows me to intervene an image or create a cartoon. Good program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike. I happen that when the internet is slow the program hangs up and I get an error message that refers me to online solutions or close the program. However, when I have a good signal I work fast and without any problem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More Recommendations to others considering the product: With Comic Life you will find a way to communicate your commercial or personal messages in a different and very creative way. It is very easy to use and has many templates to make your work something different and striking. With Comic Life you can create messages with creative and novel images, campaigns that capture the attention of the public. It is easy to use and has a free version and another that actually has a fairly affordable price. It’s such a creative outlet to turn real life photos into a comic book. It’s engaging and also puts an awesome twist on projects. It brings the old fashioned comic book that used to be a main source of entertainment back to life again. I can’t say I dislike anything. It’s super convenient and easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More What problems are you solving with the product. A new creative way to tell stories that doesn’t make it boring for people to watch. It makes projects fun. Dropping and dragging in Comic Life 3 is easy and adaptable for the first time user. Shaping titles and word bubbles are my favorite part. Keeping aspect in ration without holding the shift-key is a plus when you're creating on the fly. I wish there were more skew and perspective options for resizing panel boxes. I would love to see an algorithm that aligns other panels on the page simultaneously. Example: If I pick a row of panels and change one panel to a right trapezoid the following panel will become a left trapezoid. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More Recommendations to others considering the product: The speedy presentation is the key factor for us. When I take on a new client, I can post thumbnails and mock-ups for customer approval. Dennis Sweatt Comic Book Creations uses Comic Life 3 for presentation and sampling for layout and presentation. The speed of use is our primary benefit at this time. Comic life is fun to use because it has a lot of templates to choose from and the interface is intuitive. When your project is complete, it can be exported as a PDF making sharing very easy. Even though there are a lot of templates to choose from, it would be nice to have a library online where you can choose from other templates that people have designed. We use Comic Life for students to have a creative option to build flyers, posters, comics, invitations, etc. Ease of use and the attention to detail are the most remarkable aspects of this software Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike. It doesn’t let you export in professional application formats Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More Recommendations to others considering the product: If you are a professional comic creator you need to consider other options but if you are a beginner this is the best deal for getting into the digital comic creation development. Comic Life is design to tell a story with pictures but I realized that using your artwork as jpeg it let you build your comic professionally and also export it in pdf format. It help me to show comic ideas before working on the real deal and it can be done fast. The templates are incredibly easy to manipulate, and to understand. Everything is vibrant and the interface itself is clean cut. Very simple to navigate. The initial templates lack stylistic guides beyond Kirby and Stan Lee, or the golden age of comics, which isn't entirely my thing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More Recommendations to others considering the product: If you're a fan of the old-school comics style, definitely give Comic Life a try. I personally enjoy making fliers that look like comic book covers with it. I can easily promote my business with the eye catching visuals they provide. It’s a great way of a teaching tool to design art and storytelling at the same time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike. Can’t share to get a lot of feedback from others Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More What problems are you solving with the product. Ease of use, very little training or experience required. Great for newsletters or fun. Program cost - but easily justifiable if this is a hobby you're into. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Show More Recommendations to others considering the product: If you like comic paneling or scripting, this program works great. Makes for fun newsletters - easy to capture attention and encourages participation thru photos. This software has been absolutely a blast to use, plain and simple. I think anyone would enjoy using it, even if they only have a passing interest in comics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike? Nothing. I can honestly say there is nothing I dislike about this software. It's just too much fun. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. Classroom Advice In addition to language arts, templates cover other content such as science and social studies; historical events can be sequenced visually, and scientific processes can be demonstrated through images. The templates are easy to personalize and challenge students to demonstrate their understanding visually in a creative format. Examples of finished projects could include steps in a science experiment or report, examples of character traits with trading cards, or a graphic novel about a social issue. While Comic Life is great for demonstrating knowledge of information, teachers who are looking for more classroom-ready features might want to also consider Pixton. Students can use many types of images -- either stock art, pictures they've drawn (using other programs), image files stored on a computer's hard drive, or even snapshots from a computer's webcam. The program is intuitive, but a help pop-up is available with additional information. Word bubbles can be added for a creative element to each frame. Final projects can be saved in an image format or a PDF and work with Google Drive. The library of templates is versatile and can help students design projects sequencing images and text to retell a story or demonstrate an understanding of learned materials. A handy script editor offers students a way to develop and brainstorm ideas prior to creating the visual product. Text can easily be dragged from the editor onto the comic area. Comic Life will help budding artists work on the design, layout, and other visual literacy techniques. Students will also learn presentation skills, and they'll become more aware of their audience as they write and create comic-like projects. Also, classroom-ready features are missing, including assignment creation, embedded rubrics, and peer feedback and collaboration. The program allows students to apply learned concepts visually. As part of the final process, students need to save a document and share it as a PDF with others. The students are having fun using the technology and the teacher receives an end product that displays their understanding of what they have learned about the subject. I will use this again in the future for other subject areas. One area that could be improved is the number of options for editing or templates available.
