comcast business ip gateway manualIf you have more devices on your network than ports on your router, you can connect a switch to your router to expand the number of ports. SIP ALG inspects and modifies SIP traffic in unexpected ways causing one-way audio, deregistrations, random error messages when dialing and calls going to voicemail for no reason. When the SIP packet goes into the router, it is given another private IP address. This SIP packet, intended for a specific destination, will no longer know where to go, causing one-way audio, dropped calls, deregistrations, and failed transfers among others. Without multicasting enabled, you can have what’s called “port collisions”. Basically, data coming into the network is sent out to all devices on the network. Since all phones are likely using port 5062, the data spike causes packets to be dropped. This can cause failed transfers, dead air upon call retrieval, among other issues. Nextiva always recommends using the Google DNS servers of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. This equipment, by itself, is not recommended for use with VoIP service. Common issues include one-way audio, dropped calls, failed transfers and deregistrations, among others. This setting is only configurable on the DPC3941B. And while searching online this article has the answer to my problem. It is easy to use and understand. I’m very interested to see how the routers are designed so that it can be secure when something goes down. Read more about me. You'll find such information in the Manual of your SMC COMCAST BUSINESS GATEWAY router. But if you do not have the manual for your router or you do not want to read the whole manual to find the default login information then you can use the quick guide below. To get to the router login page it's necessary that you are connected to the router. After some seconds our tool will show a link to your router login page. Click on the shown link. The default password is highspeed. Sometimes the username and password doesn't work that we mentioned in the top of this guide.Did you try the following IPs? In the list below we listed all known router IPs for the manufacturer SMC. Maybe this will work for you. This can be done easily by clicking on the reset button at the back or at the bottom of your router. If you hold down this small button for approximately 20 seconds, (you may have to use a toothpick), then your modem will get restored to the factory settings. What you need to keep in mind is that when you reset your modem, you will lose your connection online. It is therefore better to take an expert's assistance in this regard. I received a static IP from Comcast (Comcast Business) and am wanting to get this setup on an EdgeRouter so I can remote into my network. I may also eventually set up access to cameras. I’ve looked online for some guidance, though not really sure what is reliable. I have seen posts about setting the Comcast modem in Bridge mode. I’m not so sure about that. Currently the inside interface of the Comcast modem which connects to my EdgeRouter has an IP of 10.1.10.1 and the normal username and password to login which is easily found online.Just set up your router with the static IP, specify the.102 as the default gateway on the router, and you're done. There are multiple logical interfaces running on each physical interface of the cable modem, which is why you can ignore the 10.1.10.http://marc-wessely.com/images/combustion-glassman-solution-manual-pdf.pdf1 stuff in your network config (Comcast has a management IP assigned on your cable modem as well, check the Gateway Summary pages and you'll see other IP addresses as well. Just ignore it.) Since 4G isn't unlimited and not as fast as cable, I'd like to prevent things like Netflix from running. You can set Comcast as the primary and the 4g as backup and it will only kick over to the back up when the primary goes out. All edgerouters have this feature just make sure you update the firmware before you try the setup as edgerouter ships with old firmware. I do not know if you will be able to limit traffic amount once it’s on 4g but it will only switch if your primary does go down. Make sure it’s setup for fail over and not load balance. I was running a edgerouter lite at home in fail over for a couple months when I was switching over to att and still had Comcast. Worked great for me. You will need Comcast to do this. You connect it to the WAN interface on your router and it will do the NAT for you. Then set up routing rules so it passes traffic to the appropriate device(s) on your LAN. In fact, they shouldn't. Put your Comcast modem in bridge mode so that it isn't trying to act as a router and you can pass this onto the Edge Router. Put the static info into your WAN IP settings on your Edge Router. Likely once you put the Comcast modem into bridge mode, it will disable the DHCP scheme which is setting your internal interface at 10.1.10.1 so you'll need to either see if the Edge Router can serve as your DHCP server, or if you have another device or server on the network which can serve this purpose. You will need Comcast to do this. You connect it to the WAN interface on your router and it will do the NAT for you. Then set up routing rules so it passes traffic to the appropriate device(s) on your LAN. You should not need to change anything in their router. If the static is a new addition (you had service before deciding to add it) then it's possible they didn't update their router, give them a call and explain you need to use your static and they will reconfigure their router for you. Then have the Comcast Business class router set as the gateway (this was the gateway IP they gave me on the static IP sheet they provided) Then have the Comcast Business class router set as the gateway (this was the gateway IP they gave me on the static IP sheet they provided) Just set up your router with the static IP, specify the.102 as the default gateway on the router, and you're done. Then I realized I had not changed the gateway on my firewall itself. Once I did that everything started working. It is still really odd to me that they don't have directly connected interfaces on the same network so they can 'talk'. But I guess this is how Comcast does it. As for earlier posts, if I have to go to Bridge Mode for accessing cameras remotely.that I suppose is a good possibility. Thanks everyone for the responses. Greatly appreciated! This is at my church so I do it when I have time. VPN definitely more secure. Also planning on setting up IP tables or the regular firewall on the linux box that runs the NVR. Thanks again for the advice! As I have with other locations, I have static IP from comcast business, but cannot connect to my router behind it. I had the modem replace today and still cannot get through. This mode is achieved by disabling the IP firewall and setting firewall settings to custom, the disabling DHCP on the LAN for IPv4 and v6. All that is done and I cannot get through to my routers static WAN IP of xx.xx.xxx.81, with gateway of xx.xx.xxx.82 and.252 mask for my single static. Internet access from inside is fine, but I cannot connect a VPN connection to the router, or connect to the WAN side router mgmt console via the internet, nor can I ping the router WAN port from outside. I'm just not getting through the modem, yet comcast keeps telling me to check my config. Well if I can't even ping it router config is not the issue, as long as the static WAN IP is correct. I have the same setup in multiple locations with no problems, no pass through mode or bridging required, it just works as advertised and described by many above. So any ideas out there.Otherwise out of ideas. Many routers use a gateway system called DHCP that automatically detects IP addresses for accessing the Internet or a wider network. However, if your router can't correctly detect the required IP addresses automatically you can enter its gateway address manually when setting up your router. This is useful if a different router provides your network's Internet access, as the DHCP system may not be able to determine this information. 1 Launch your computer's Web browser and type your router's IP address into the address bar. Consult your router's instruction manual or manufacturer's website for details on the default IP address if this does not open the router's settings page in your Web browser. The router reboots to put the new gateway settings into effect. Tips When static IP-address settings are selected, you must also manually enter the router's IP address and the DNS server address. The router's IP address is the number you typed into the Web browser's address bar to access the settings page. The DNS server address is provided by your Internet service provider. Spencer is a qualified medical electronics engineer with a Business and Technology Education Council certificate in technical writing from Huddersfield Technical College. You can use one of these without the consent of a regional internet registry as laid in RFC 1918 unlike all the public addresses. Comcast has long been into the business aspect of the routers and has been an ardent provider of routers. As an important step, it is always very important that you secure the admin settings with the login portal. To login into 10.1.10.1 enter the username and password as given on the router or in the manual. If you have a Cisco router or Netgear router, the same IP address shall be applicable to you. What it is used for. It can be helpful in a number of different tasks such as changing the login credentials and securing your DNS. As far as accessing the default gateway is concerned, you will just need a local browser and the system which is connected to the wifi station. Also read about 10.0.0.2 router login IP There are a ton of different things that you can try using 10.1.10.1 dns which are important and one should be cautious while making use of it. Many people are even confused when they see 10.1.10.1 comcast and 10.1.10.1 xfinity, both of which are similar things. The very first thing to ensure is that you secure your router by changing the default credentials of your router. Open any of your local browser, make sure it is connected to the same wifi station for which you wish to change the login credentials. It should be the comcast wifi station. Enter the address and you will be redirected to the login page. This will be your Comcast modem login page. That’s where you will be able to change the Comcast router password. It will open two boxes, one for old password and another for the new password. Enter the fields and make sure your password is at least eight characters long, has alphanumeric characters in it and is a combination of special characters along with lower and upper case letters. Re-enter your new password and you are good to go. Select the Save option and your settings will be updated. Now, Open your local browser and enter the IP address You shall be redirected to the login page where you can enter the Login Username: cusadmin Login Password: highspeed Now change the login credentials, you will need the old password in order to update it with a new one. As a precaution, ensure that you password is strong and has a good mix of certain characters which are hard to guess. Don’t forget to save the settings If you have misplaced your already changed password apart from the default one then you can reset the router. Another thing to change is the SSID aka service set identifier. It is the name that you see when you check for the available wifi stations in your area. If the default settings are left unchanged, then it can become very easy to an intruder to peep in. It is always better to keep the SSID simple and clean. 3. SMC Router Many users also have SMC routers and similar to above routers, even this router’s security can be strengthened by fiddling a little with the default gateway login page. Open your browser(Chrome or Firefox) and type the address in URL bar: You will get a login page that shall ask you to enter user ID and password. Remember by default if you have never changed the credentials then you can use the following details. Also you should change the name of your wifi station also known as SSID. Common Errors 10.1.10.1 isn’t working Firstly, you need to ensure that your gateway is not in the bridge mode. If it is then your connection to the 10.1.10.1 IP will be disabled by default. The best way to resolve it is by resetting the browser’s settings. A simple power cycle will set things working normally again. You're wondering how to proceed with setting it up without having to squint at the long numeric sequences and rather techie terms written in the tiniest font in the instruction manual included with your router. What is the Xfinity Default Router IP Address. Get The XFINITY IP Address Is There A Default Login For Comcast Routers. Log In To Your Comcast Xfinity Router - Or Reset. How To Reset The Comcast XFINITY Check out how to get these details below. Probably one of the burning questions you have right now is: “I thought this thing was plug and play. Why do I have to log into my Comcast Xfinity router?” There are actually a number of reasons—from doing basic tweaks on your wireless network, simple security reasons (the most basic being the changing of your password for your WiFi connection, for example), and updating your firmware to the latest version. These are simple enough to do yourself, and will only take a few minutes as compared to going through the hassle of calling technical support (insert telephone hold music here) and waiting until they send a service personnel to come over and do it for you. But before anything else, let’s log into that router first. What is the Xfinity Default Router IP Address. If you’re not that lucky, then crack open that manual and look for it in the appropriate section. Still don’t want to crack open that manual. All right, all right, here’s an alternate solution for you: Most routers use default login credentials. Other possible combinations would be “root” and “root”, or “cusadmin” and “highspeed”. If that doesn’t work, and it’s not on the box or the router, well, you just have to check the manual. And no, no alternate solutions this time. Sorry. How to change the XFINITY Wireless Password Log In To Your Comcast Xfinity Router - Or Reset. At this point, you probably have your log in details. However, sometimes routers have been used by previous customers, so the default credentials have been changed. In this case, a router reset might be needed so that you can log into it using the default gateway and log in details. You could also try the 30 30 30 hard reset If it still doesn’t work, then it’s time to contact your customer service.I hope this article has been of some help to you into logging on to your Comcast Xfinity router. If you like this article, or have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below. Go ahead and share this article too. You never know how many people you might be preventing from getting a headache. Regardless keep up the good work. I know it’s not particularly on-topic, but if you’re even reading about routers don’t think about using Comcast. They actually wanted to do customer support via chat. I point out to them that I am legally disabled and blind, and only have one hand, so I could not text within, and they persisted in telling me that if I didn’t explain my issues. They would shut off the session. I told them about the Americans with disability act, and in about two minutes. I got a phone call from Comcast asking what they could do to help me. So maybe I’m upset with them, but maybe they did the right thing and I kind of got under their skin. All I want to do is activate my modem, and they kept sending the activation codes, resetting the modem, and complaining that I didn’t know how to hook up the cable. Now I have to wait three days and be at home all afternoon, while a technician comes and checks the outlet ?? I asked the technical service agent if he would tell me what the default IP address is. So that while I wait I could just log into the modem and poke around, because I believe that the jack is active, and if I can just simply set up a username and passwords. I’ll be online. They told me they could not know my IP address. Caveat and emptor there is no regulation of the Internet service providers, and they’ll continue to abuse people until someone crashes down on their necks. Maybe you should of gone in store. Please stop trying to sway people away from Comcast just cause you seem to be to lazy to go into an office and talk to someone in person. Then Jade if putting someone down because they can type but not walk makes you a super human being. Maybe the legs blown to bits in Iraq made typing skills better. Everyone complains about the customer service and the prices. But I am self-employed and work from my apartment, and I only have the option of Comcast or ATT. The prices are generally about the same, as is the customer service from what I hear, so I just keep sticking it out. Not having options is hard. If so, how does it compare. It’s been probably 20 years before I have used anyone other than Comcast, so I don’t have much first-hand experience with anyone else. No one seems happy with the customer service or price of their cable, no matter who they’re with. It’s a shame. Comcast as a business does well at forcing out the competition or being the only option in smaller towns. They’ve created a vice on the customer because they know that we’d have no other option if we would like to be connected via the internet or have TV service The pricing model is always favorable to new customers and they do not seem to care much about losing business (follows suit with them knowing they’re the only option for most customers). They have extremely difficult customer service and it almost becomes a sport to try and “get through” to anyone. There are many blogs and articles that thoroughly explain the in and outs of the customer service model and how to as quickly as possible get results in their marathon of painful interactions. I just wish google fiber was in my zip code. If so, how does it compare. I’ve used smaller local companies that have different technology packages and while they may not compare with Comcast in speed they always make up for it in price and service Comcast has come a long way in recent years. Originally, their customer service was a joke, but they have taken steps to improve how they interact with customers. Also, the Xfinity mobile is a real bargain if you don’t use too much data and their internet service comes with free Norton software. The price of their TV packages is too high.
