Alicia 5.0 out of 5 stars I highly recommend this manual, especially if you're an English major.Got this on a recommendation and it is PERFECT. Small with spiral binding so it’s easy to flip around to what your looking for.It could not be easier to use. Regardless of required format (Chicago, APA, MLA, etc.) or source materials (Internet, personal interviews, e-mail, DVDs, etc.), the writer is given specific examples of how to document everything, along with examples of a finished paper in each style. I give copies of it as graduation gifts and recommend it to students, parents, and other teachers. A writer, editor, tutor, and former English teacher, I have a bookcase full of reference books. This is the one I take with me wherever I go.I was always borrowing my supervisor's copy when working with students. Finally, I bought my own copy and I am loving it. It has a format that makes locating desired material quick and easy. The examples facilitate understanding of the material even for beginners, like English language learners, and those crafting advanced research papers. I am only sorry I didn't buy it sooner. As any university student can attest, there is much more to learn about the English language and using the structure in professional form. With so much to learn, this book makes it easy to find and understand at the touch of a few pages. I love this book and would recommend it to anyone who speaks or is anticipated to produce professional writing. It's a must have for serious writers.Little did I know 7 years later I would be back in school to earn an MBA. Essentially everything you need to properly cite and put together a paper and follow APA guidelines. A huge help without having to spend the money for the full guide. Quick and easy reference guide for those who just need a quick reminder. The pages are pretty thin and one actually arrived torn, but it serves the purpose I need it to.http://funperm.ru/content/dgv-708-manual.xmlIt is such a good book to have if you are in school and the prices are incredible. Thank you so much!!Up until the change this edition assisted me in understanding APA style.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again This book is very visually intuitive and it's organized well. It simplified all my referencing. Usually formatting and referencing is my least favorite part of a paper, but with this guide it was much easier than expected and by the look of the other essays I saw handed in - I outdid my peers (when it came to following proper formatting at least!) I also appreciated the tips on assembling using a 'working bibliography'. Overall it was very handy. I actually did not have to refer to my APA manual at all for my essay - this guide was enough. I wish I had this a few years ago. Do yourself a favor and buy this book.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Also, this manual helps students with tedious writing strategies that are not taught in some schools. For example, voice, tense, person and tone are all covered, as well as transitions, introductions and effective conclusions. It's easy to read and understand. Finally, in the area of research, MLA, APA and Chicago are all covered. In this fashion, one can compare and easily see the differences each style requires. Often, a student is taking 3 different classes that require 3 different formats. This book succinctly transcends from one to the next. An invaluable section is that of citations. It teaches how to cite, how to avoid plagiarism, and also how to integrate quotations into your paper. Many students don't know how to paraphrase, as some teachers allow copying straight from the encyclopedia to the notebook paper. This book show you how! Finally, for the visually dependent, Hacker includes a sample page of a title page, works cited page, and a first page. A final note in this computer age, Hacker keeps up with the Internet and helps the student with any and all websites and databases. This alone is invaluable. Be sure you get the most updated version. This is the third edition, and I have all my juniors use it.I am a 1st generation hispanic and the level of English I was exposed to in the community college I attended, was a notch or two below what I have been exposed to at U.C. Berkeley. Thank you for the excellent service in shipping the very needed source. ThanksIt has words that explain words and how to put words together. One of my co-workers had this from a collage course. I have to write correspondence all day long to customers. Spell check is great, but leaves a lot to be desired for Grammar errors. I have been out of school for 20 yrs.It was suppose to be a little helper turned into a life saver.I kept this one! It is VERY informative and helpful. It also helps because it shows many different citing refrences, not just one. I ALWAYS keep this in my bag. It's seriously a great little tool.In order to navigate out of this carousel please use your heading shortcut key to navigate to the next or previous heading.
