I t is b est if you have a work table or a bl ock of wood wi th a small hole i nto which the front of the firing pin wi ll fit, r ight up to the squared off enlarged po rtion just in fron t of the spring. (If thi s is not av ailable to you, do not proceed.) To compress spring, apply forc e her e Bolt Sleeve w ith Gas Shield Cocki ng P iece in cocked position Safety Lever Firing Pin Spring Firing Pin NEVER Apply Force He re Caution: From this p oint on y ou will b e deali ng with a highly co m- presse d and powerfu l spring. You must wear eye prote ction. If you don’ t have it, st op the proc edure unt il you get eye protecti on be- cause you wi ll be decompr essing and com pressing the spring (i n the re-ass embly pro cess). iii. Compress the spring: With the firing pin inserted into the work table ho le, f irmly gras p the bol t sleeve while le aving t he cockin g piece free to move. This takes considerab le pressur e and strength. Exert dow nward pres sure on the bolt slee ve, compres sing the spring un til the co cking piec e can be free ly turne d 90 degree s in either direction (you ma y well need som e help here ). iv. Remove the cocki ng piece: With the co cking pie ce turned 90 de- grees, you ca n slowly r elax your downward pr essure on the spring tension and the whole as sembly w ill come apart. Note wh ich side of the firing pin is up, so you can reas semble it th e same way. Th e firing pin an d its spring will come apart ( you can see how powerful it is) as well as the bolt s leeve and s afety leve r. Swing the safe ty lever over to full right (ot herwise it won’t come off ) and then pu ll it straight back. It will come rig ht out. v. Now you can cl ean every thing in detail. You won 't want to disas - semble th e bolt too often (for obvi ous reaso ns). You can see tha t the fi ring pin and its spring live deep insi de the bolt bo dy so y ou want a light fil m of oil over the ent ire surfac e of all parts; espe- cially inside the bo lt body.
