T rouble due to li ghtning sur ges has been sho wing a steady i ncrease with the d ev elopment of elec tronic equipment. In man y countries, there are regulatio ns requiring th e installat ion of a lightnin g protector. A lightn ing strik e to a tele phone cable whic h is 10 m abo ve ground can be as high as 200,000 V. This syste m should be i nstalled with li ghtning protector s. In addition, grounding (co nnection to eart h ground) is very importa nt for the prot ection of th e system.
