Alex 5.0 out of 5 stars Vibration sound: Excellent for mindfulness. You feel the vibration, not hear it really. That's good, so that others do not usually notice it going off and ask what's that sound, though sometimes my boss was asking me what's that sound. If you are completely distracted, you might not notice it go off, but then you might not notice a lot of things in a hyper stressed state of mind. Watchband: Not ideal. It looks nice, but tends to pull arm hairs (ouch). Will have to adjust it unless you have large arms. I do so can't say how hard it would be to adjust. Ease of use: Very easy, no harder than a normal watch to use. Timer Functionality: It can be set to any interval you want, I think. I have it set to every 15 minutes typically for habit reinforcement. It goes of at 15 minutes. It buzzes five times. Then without any action it goes off again in exactly 15 minutes. I can press the button to have it silent on the first buzz, and it will go off again in 15 minutes regardless. Or, I can stop the countdown for times I don't want it to be cycling. Then I can resume it. All just one touch of the button for this. Appearance: Looks professional, classic style. Other nice things: The light is easy to use, nice big button. Battery life: Not sure how long it lasts. Have had it for a month or two only. I think it has to go to a dealer or watch repair shop to have the battery replaced. Update: after about a year the watch stopped working. Overall opinion: I'm happy with it, but it only lasted a year. It's not perfect. For my need to do habit reinforcement, it works fine without issue.It has taken quite a beating. It has kept time within a few seconds of the original setting. If I miss my rotation all hell breaks loose. An alarm that chirps or beeps is too quiet. You may become desensitized to the buzz, but by then you are trained to constantly check the time. It quits on its own after a few buzzes. Meanwhile it's marking time until the next interval is over and the buzz goes off again. It will keep notifying you until you disarm the buzz. When your shift is over, you'll notice the buzz and turn it off for the day. I would never have imagined a watch like this existed. The user guide says the battery will last about three years with two alarm or light uses a day. With at least 10 alarms a day, my battery lasted about 14 months. I have no experience using the watch as an alarm clock. Some may find setting the controls too complicated. Nothing is easy.This one vibrates - and it's noticeable. It takes a little practice to learn how to set it, but I got over that issue quickly. You can set a time for it to alarm, or you can also set it to run for a given amount of time before it alarms. E.g., you could set it to run for 3 hours and 23 minutes, at the end of which time the watch would inform you the time is up. It also gives you the option to sound an audible alarm, but I find that useless. You can also set a second time to read in a different time zone. There are a few special time zones that are partial hours ahead or behind others, and this watch could be so set. E.g., your main watch could read 3:00 and the second time zone could be 4:30. It's also useful for people without hearing problems who work in noisy environments. If you're supposed to check an instrument once every hour, the tone alarm might not be heard in a noisy environment, but you would feel the vibration. It also works well if you are giving a speech and you want to know how your timing is. The audience wouldn't detect that your watch had warned you there are only a certain number of minutes left. It looks good and is not expensive.During that time, I have to log where they are every fifteen minutes. Thanks to this watch, I'm able to quietly update my logs punctually without waking or upsetting the patient. The only downsides are, according to the manual it came with, it can be off by as much as 30 seconds every month, so it needs frequent calibration. Also, on the countdown timer, I'd rather be able to see the active time if I'm not counting down days. Beyond that, this is an excellent buy at a reasonable price.I dont actually use the alarms, but I do use the hourly time signal.The vibrating alarm is not robust enough to alert me except when I am sitting quietly at the time it actuates. This is so even though I removed links from the metal band so that I could only insert the first joint of my little finger between my wrist and the watch back plate. A slight annoyance was that no instructions were provided on how to shorten the band. I own numerous other Casio items and am pleased with all of them. I would certainly recommend this vendor and consider them for future purchases. It is just that this vibrating alarm does not work for me.Personally, I don't get it. To me, a watch is a thing that tells time. I don't really care what it looks like. But it's nice I suppose to have people compliment you from time to time. It's still in tip-top shape. Still works. Never needed the alarm. Frankly the best feature is that it illuminates and I can get it wet. It has a good metal strap, so I know it won't break off. Rather than deliver an error when the answer exceeds the capacity of the calculator, the 8130X, 8145X and Monroe UltimateX, present the answer in scientific notation. The calculation capacity of the 8130X and Monroe UltimateX is 24 digits even though the capacity of the calculator is 12 digits. The Monroe 8145X has a calculation capacity of 28 digits and the capacity of the calculator is 14 digits. Dividing by zero for example, creates an error as it is mathematically undefined. The 8130X, 8145X and Monroe UltimateX automatically clear these conditions when encountered. Most calculators force the operator to clear such conditions before proceeding. Again, more manual and mental effort in such calculators. Were we to multiply 100 by 3, we are more comfortable entering 100, pressing the x key, then entering 3 and pressing the key. Alternatively we would have to enter the decimal equivalent (.03) to obtain the same result. The percent key also has additional capabilities often included.Value added taxes can also be calculated using these functions. The formula for markup is cost, divided by 100 minus the percent of markup.Comparing sales last month to this month for example. They are normally referred to as truncate, round off and round up. To illustrate the difference, let us assume that the actual result of adding 1.444 twice is 2.888. If the decimal selector were set at 2, it would instruct the calculator to round the answer to 2 decimal places. If the rounding control were set to truncate, the answer would be 2.88 as it would ignore any digit past two decimal places and drop it. If the selector were set to round up, any non-zero digit in the third decimal position would cause the answer to be rounded up, again the answer would be 2.89. In an invoice for example, you might want to accumulate the quantity, as well as the extended amounts to check for quantity or pricing errors. If for example we were adding fractional weights at 4 decimal places, we could add such amounts without pressing the decimal key. In the event the U.S. eliminates the penny from the monetary system, nickel rounding can be selected. Doing so would round all amounts up to the nearest nickel automatically. An answer of 2.22 for example would now become 2.25. It provides the ability to add two columns of figures simultaneously. For example, if you had a stack of invoices and wanted to add the invoice amount and the amount of tax at the same time, two column addition would enable facility. You could also use the memory, however the memory keys are generally located further away from the adding machine controls. Two column addition on the 8130X, 8145X and Monroe UltimateX further format the tape for right column and left column. This provides for easy audit of the tape and associates the tax amount with the invoice amount for example. This feature allows the user to enter a beginning number using the non-add date key. Each subsequent amount added, for example, will be identified with an incremental number. Again a stack of invoices starting with Invoice number 101. Each addition will increment the invoice number. This feature enables a running subtotal to print on the tape after each entry is added. This feature is ideal for bank statement reconciliation and when combined with the feature automatic incremental identifier causes the check number, amount of the check and declining balance to print given the entry of the check amount only for example.
