The OD-1 was already legendary so following up to it was an impossible task. The design goal was to create a pedal with two modes. In mode one its sound should be similar to the OD-1, but in the turbo mode it should have more distortion and more gain. A tone control is included to give the user better control over the sound. The OD-2 is built using only discrete components (no integrated circuits). After the production was discontinued, 1994, the pedal continued its life as the slightly modified OD-2R for another 4 years. Depression, ADHD, memory loss, agitation: These may seem like inevitable byproducts of modern lives spent multitasking, not getting enough sleep, and operating on digital overload. The first BOSS Overdrive pedal was the OD-1, released in 1977 and discontinued in 1985. The OD-1 had just two controls, Level and Overdrive. In 1981 BOSS introduced the successor to the OD-1 called the SD-1, the Super OverDrive which added a tone control. In 1985 the OD-2 Turbo OverDrive pedal was released which had an additional Turbo switch which, as you can probably imagine, added more volume and gain when engaged. And fast forward to 1997 the OD-3 was released which looked very much like the SD-1 but utilises a dual stage overdrive circuit to create a fuller sound. Now Boss have released the OD-1X which has an extended EQ control with separate Bass and Treble controls and also uses their new Multi-Dimensional Processing technology or MDP. This new DSP analyses the audio signal in realtime, separates it into several different parts or “dimensions” and applies the optimal effect to each part independently, treating each dimension almost as a separate input. Pretty clever stuff which automatically ensures optimal tone for both the low-end chugging and widdly solos without changing the knob settings. Aesthetically the OD-1X has a cool metal flake finish and a mirrored control plate and chrome looking plastic control knobs and it comes in a pretty flash box which is a departure from the usual BOSS packaging. But none of that matters if it doesn’t sound any good right. Well in my opinion it certainly doesn’t disappoint.https://www.becompta.be/emploi/bosch-shu4002uc-manual As you can hear from my demo in front of a totally clean amp (my Ceriatone Chupacabra 50) the pedal sounds fantastic, instant VH style tones without so much saturation that it makes the tone muddy and that was with the gain set to maximum. Very impressive pedal. The OD-1X creates Smooth singing lead tones and riffs and if you want a bit more bite just increase the treble control, it never reached the point where it became ice-picky or unpleasant. Also this pedal was great as a boost using the volume to drive the amp and slowly increasing the gain to reach the sweet spot. In front of an overdriven amp this is even more evident. If you are looking for a great overdrive tone from a clean amp or a great no-noise pedal to add gain and sustain to your overdriven tones definitely give this pedal a try. Jasper 5.http://gestibrok.com/images/boss-od-2-manual.pdf0 out of 5 stars I always missed the OS-2 for its versatility. Its design and purpose are humble, but between the color and tone knob, you can dial in a wide range of tones that are truly usable across different rigs. It sounds just as great with a Strat and an AC30 as it would a Les Paul and Fender Deluxe, with the right tweaking. I would say there are too many different tonal possibilities in the color knob to be billed as simple a DS-1 and an SD-1 in the same box. There are more tones here than any other overdrive pedal I've owned. With the drive up high and the color knob fairly low, one can conjure up some near-Marshall or HiWatt sounds. With the color and drive extremely low, you can produce some Fender Tweed sounds without a harsh high end. I personally like to keep the color knob below 12 o'clock for a warm overdrive sound, but the charm in this pedal is that I've seen other guitarists say they prefer it in the opposite direction. Now for the negative. It's not a noiseless pedal. With the drive knob at 12 o'clock, it emits a pretty harsh buzzing sound compared to other drive pedals. I personally wish it had more output, as I find myself pushing the output past 12 o'clock more than I'd prefer. For this reason, I think it sounds best when pushed with another high-output boost pedal like the BOSS Blues Driver. So overall, I'd say it shouldn't be the ONLY overdrive pedal one should own, but I think everyone should own one at some point. I feel like any guitarist can find a way to use this pedal, which is the greatest compliment I can give to a guitar pedal. This thing rivals my Marshall-style pedals in terms of tone. It just needs more volume. The color knob is what sets it apart - can blend overdrive and distortion as you desire - set about 2 or 3 o'clock sounds really good. It is a little noisy compared to other newer pedals I have, but minor concern for my needs.https://glosunspa.com/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626f59127b106---bosch-wfl2260-service-manual.pdfIt was just a little bit more difficult than I guessed it would be but not too hard for someone with some electronics kit building experience. I removed all the parts first and then installed the new ones, as I felt confident I would be able to do it correctly. I understand what the instructions say about checking the pedal with every component installed but I did not want to go through all that trouble. I would not reccomend this as a first project for someone with no soldering experience but if you can solder and desolder joints you should be ok. You will want to use a good iron with a small chisel tip as the solder pads are small. I expected the led to be a bit brighter based on the description but it works just fine, it came with a clear one that lights yellow but it is not much brighter than the stock red one. Surely looks better with the yellow to me. The pedal is a lot warmer sounding now and it has a LOT more clarity and sweetness. I notice the tone knob seems to affect the overall volume more than it did before but it seems to be a lot more useful in shaping the tone now, this is easily balanced out by the level knob. This mod takes the fizziness out of the pedal and makes it sing a lot better. I have two OS-2 pedals so I am able to A-B this to the unmodded pedal. At first I did not realize how drastic the improvement was until I tried the original pedal. The original really sounds like crap compared to the modded pedal and I did like it a lot before I modded one of them. I don't like the OD or distortion alone if you set the color knob to either extreme but you get some great tones between 9 and 3 o'clock positions. I did not really like either extreme before the mod either to be fair. Considering what this mod takes this pedal from and to, I'd say the guy who put the kit together has a good ear for tone. Again this mod smooths and fattens this pedal up a lot. Great for classic rock. This pretty much covers my needs for now.australiandiamondnetwork.com/ckfinder/userfiles/files/cameron-wellhead-manual.pdf I will be looking into more of these kits from this supplier. It was well put together and has good color photos for you to use. The instructions are great for someone with just a little basic experience. If you can't understand them you don't need to be attempting to mod your own gear. So I took a used pedal I bought for less than half the cost of a new one and bought this kit, did the install myself and saved a couple hundred dollars from what a comprable sounding boutique pedal would have costed me. All said I enjoyed doing the work myself and I will be looking at more kits from this supplier.I don't check the operation of the pedal after every change.I feel it is too hard on the wire attachments to the PC board if you are repeatedly plugging and unplugging the pedal to check the sound. Just be methodical removing parts and replacing them. Don't yank on stubborn pieces; just apply the solder wick and reheat. If you can gently pull on the part (other side of the board) while heating, it should come away. A small set of needle-nose pliers or hemostats can be very helpful. Don't overheat the pc board at any rate.this could lift the solder contact away from the board. I chose to leave the original LED (red) in place. This step isn't going to affect the final sound of the pedal. Many musicians prefer the un-modified sound of the Boss pedals, and that is fine. Your ear is the important factor in all of this. With humbuckers this sounds amazing driving a valve amp - especially with the gain backed off and the volume up. This is where it really shines. With the knob anywhere around the middle you get a firm, thumpy palm-muted overdrive with varying degrees of sizzling overtones from the distortion. It reminds me of Clapton's early Marshall sound more than anything, and that's no bad thing. I've also been using a CS-3 compressor ahead of it and this takes it to a whole new level, especially with single coils or lower-output pickups.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.http://www.marthatrotts.ca/wp-content/plugins/formcraft/file-upload/server/content/files/1626f591dd07e2---bosch-wfl-2860-user-manual.pdf Please try again Highly recommended.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. I am having Yamaha electrical guitar and Marshall basic amp.i was searching for such sound which usually hear it in live band shows. While they play leads on higher notes.the kind of sustain.,I want that in my guitar. I bought zoom processor g1x for that but I was getting little noise on that. Undoubtedly this processer is good only. There are lots of effects in processor, but you like only few.I tried to add new effect patches.still I didn't get satisfaction.this noise was disturbing and I was not getting sustaining sounds (overdrive) while pull off strings. Also on rock band they play leads in distortion mode.It was awesome it's giving proper sustainability on pulloff with overdrive also if you try distortion then u will get the rock sound. Now I get that feel to practice more on leads. Now to all guitar beginners instead of buying cheaper processor buy guitar, amp and this then u can practice more. Then later you can go for costly processor. Telling this as u might be aware before electric guitar, practice on acoustic is manadatory;) Thanks Amazon.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. The production was discontinued in 1994, but the new version, the OD-2R, continued for other 4 years. At the beginning the manufacturing was Japanese, but in 1988 it moved to Taiwan. The main goal of this switch is to create two different distortions. The first is similar to that of the previous model, much mild, while the second provides more Overdrive and an additional gain, with a very natural feedback. The natural consequence of this characteristic is a greater flexibility of the previous model. It adjusts the higher frequencies, so, at the minimum it makes the tone darker, at the maximum it becomes more brilliant and open. When it is OFF it produces a mild and sweet Overdrive, similar to that of the previous version. On the contrary, when it is ON it generates a very powerful signal, with much gain and a pleasant natural feedback. But i have to say that this second option isn't extraordinary. Perhaps is only a personal impression, but the sensation is that when this selector is active the pedal is too much artificial, without an identity. The signal is very powerful, yes, but the final result is disappointing, at least as regards my personal taste. It colours very much the tone of the guitar, but it turns out rather flexible. It produces a good sound that can go from a slight crunch to a distortion that is perfect for the classic Rock. If you can buy the OD-2, obviously used, it can be very useful in many contexts to create a natural and pleasant distortion. The price is valid and justified.
