What it lacks is some features. First of all it only produces lower octaves. So you can only play a note and get the lower octave out of it, not the higher one. And then it has another option for a 2nd lower octave which is, to me.basically useless. Unless you wanna mud up your sound completely, it doesn't serve any purpose. I'd much prefer if it had an octave up AND down. The drive feature embedded on this octave pedal (for some weird reason?) is actually pretty good so there's that. The multi-tracking option isn't that reliable but it's decent. Which is, again, a bit weird. All in all a sturdy pedal, like Boss has a reputation for, but lackluster when it comes to sound options.
