So actually this product ends up having two separate ratings for me. First, in a practice situation it performs very well. It's very easy to record a rhythm track to compose melodies or solo over, especially when you use the count in function which gives you a measure of the drum beat before starting to record. I use an octaver to record a bass line then the rhythm guitar track and I'm ready to go. To take it a step further you can load a full composition onto the pedal, minus the parts you want to play yourself. Achieving the right loudness takes a couple of tries but once you get it, you can save it as a one shot meaning it will play once in it's entirety and stop, instead of like loop. Very useful. So, I give this pedal five stars as a practice tool. Now onto a live situation. If you use it to play uploaded backing tracks for a small gig that doesn't require a lot of volume it will sound decent if your mix was done well. If you use the pedal's drumbeats live, your music will sound way too repetitious and artificial due to the simplicity and the sound quality of the beats. Furthermore, if you like to improvise or switch around the order of the parts of a piece or create a piece in a live situation, this pedal is too limited and does not possess the option of recording various independent tracks over the same beat that you can switch between. So that's why I would give it four stars for live use. Of course this doesn't stop it from being a great practice tool and jamming companion that won't give you attitude or empty your fridge every time he comes over. But seriously, your guitar playing and creativity will definitely improve with this looper. That alone makes it worthwhile. I often find myself wishing the sound was filled out a little more, or that I could solo while still hearing the riff and this helps with that. This works great, is responsive and easy to figure out. This is my first looper pedal, first time using one and I'm not great on guitar. I can hold my own for someone that teaches himself on the couch via scale patterns, YouTube and just trial and error of what I think sounds good. Even still, this was easy to figure out as its straight forward. I gave this 5 stars not because it's perfect as a looper but it's great for what it was made. I do wish I had a separate switch to start and stop, I do wish there were extra slots for memory--maybe an option to select one slot or multiple slots cause 12 minutes is one long loop. With that said I can get a pedal like that and didn't expect this one to have those features. Ultimately don't discount it for not having features it wasn't meant to have in the first place. It's made to be simple and it is. I feel like it's maybe over priced, even at the sale price I paid but it is what it is. I'd say see if you like looping on a pedal like this and if you do it'll give you a good idea of what you'd like for your next pedal. If you want a simple looping function this is for you.
