Last year I bought a Boss LM-2 Limiter pedal from a forumite here, out of impulse. So there, I bought one (super mint, MIJ, for 4.5K!) Having no guitar gear knowledge, then came the love-hate relationship. I haven't noticed the potential of the pedal -- I merely concluded it's just another 'compressor' pedal. Adopting a high quality VCA, the LM-2 allows little tone quality deterioration and low noise. Then after months and months, recently I decided to play with my LM-2. Now I realized what it can REALLY do. Hindi lang pala pang-BASS ito. So it means that it boosts low-input signals and tones down the high ones.http://www.nam.org.np/userfiles/boss-guitar-effects-manuals.xml

A limiter, on the other hand, doesn't boost the low-input signal; only suppresses the high ones into a certain level. And, surprisingly, the note sustained a bit more, with the LM-2 engaged, whether high or low note. Then tested the same setting, this time with my BAMF-modded HM100 (with a high-gain setting). The difference was notable -- the dist sound got TIGHTER. Fom ZZHUG ZZZHUG it became much more CHUG CHUG. And yes, NO HUM. The LM-2 was dead silent. Now I compared what the LM-2 did, with my modded CS-3 (yes, no hiss). So in comparison, the LM-2 sounded much natural, especially when doing clean tone chords. But if I wanted a long-sustaining clean tone, that would be the job of my CS-3. The LM-2 is now an essential element to my setup. That's all folks! Anyways, anyone else who has some guitar LIMITER experiences? I have a theory that this may tame the brittle character of many solid state amps by preventing the signal from inducing clipping in the output sections of solid state amplifiers, similar to how powered PA speakers prevent overloading. If so, how is the sound? Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic. I just encountered this thread by google didnt know there is a thread of Boss lm2 here in phil music. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Right now I run a cs3 to limit.Even shows a limiter setting in the instructions. Has anyone ever compared the quality of both. I use my limiter to level out the peaks of my overall sound(clean compared to distortio, so I dont have to worry about distortion levels) AFAIK, the Boss Limiter it was a poor seller for guitarists but was sought out by bassists.it's for that reason that Boss dropped the Limiter and marketed the Bass Limiter.http://ecohost.ru/pics/images/boss-gx-700-manual.xml I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work somewhat for guitarists' purposes. Did a lot of research. Some people compared the lm2 and cs3 and preferred the lm2, so im gonna see for myself. They say the tone is better and it limits just as well.It doesn't destroy your tone like the cs-3 and they are cheap. I put it after my tube screamer or use it for a boost. Put it front of a Epiphone Valve Junior and you won't to do any mods to the amp. I also use a Digitech GSP-2101 pre-amp and it makes a huge difference in fattening up the tone. Limiting ratios can get into the 20:1 area, and are used to control(squish) peaks. Otherwise, there's not a lot of difference. PaulAfter all, limiters have to catch the peaks quickly. Any thoughts? Also is the approx 6:1 ratio what they use in gtr comp pedals? After all, limiters have to catch the peaks quickly. Any thoughts? Also is the approx 6:1 ratio what they use in gtr comp pedals? Both can have -0- attack times. With limiting, you looking to immediately squash the really nasty peaks. You want to 'ease into' and 'ease out of' the compression state. Threshholds allow you to make the quieter(uncompressed or limited) material louder. PERIOD. If you value your dynamics, watch that threshold setting. Lowering it too much will turn you into early GreenDay. Most guitarists use limiters as a sustain device. Again, it depends on the device. Personally, I never used a sustain pedal. Find the right guitar and (low power) amp, and you're off to the races. Some can sing like a bird and sustain like a porn star. PaulI assumed that the fast attack time would be designed into this pedal judging by how it controls dynamics. I'm only using it for gentle compression on clean sounds, just to even out the spikiness of the tone and smooth it out a bit.Memorials, RIPs and Obituaries Grove Park, Maidenhead, Berkshire SL6 3LW.Hosted by Nimbus Hosting. The Inferior Lumen in the Venn Diagram. The fishy odor we call that a rotten egg is a very confusing odor. To date it is unknown exactly where thepoor lumen from the Venn diagram of the human body ends and theaerobic bacteria begin. Nobody knows where the boundary is, however, there are many who think it's somewhere in the anaerobic section of the body. Anaerobic (or aerobic) bacteria reside in and around our digestive tract. At exactly the same time, they provide us with the nutrition required to produce methane gas which allows our bodies to burn fat. When the bacteria get out of control, but the body's normal metabolic processes break down and toxic waste is released into the bloodstream. The odor of rotten eggs stems in the byproducts of these harmful anaerobic bacteria which are toxic to our bodies. The unpleasant odor you experience when the air in your house smells like rotten eggs comes from this problem. Your human body's metabolic processes happen to be out of whack because there is an excess of oxygen from the blood flow. This can happen to anyone with chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or other respiratory problems. With increased amounts of oxygen, the body's natural biological methods are triggered into overdrive, causing much more damage to the mitochondria, the molecular mechanisms responsible for generating energy in cells. A lot of people mistake getting too much oxygen having too much oxygen. In fact, the correct term for your oxygen deficit is hyperoxia. After the oxygen equilibrium level drops below 80 percent in the bloodstream, it is referred to as hypoxia. Oxygen deprivation or hyperoxia can cause cells from the body's cells to die and cause organ damage. It is this level of oxygen deficiency that gives rise to many different symptoms in the body. Rather, the oxygen it requires is supplied through the blood stream, bypassing the liver and kidneys and moving right to the brain. Another location where the smell of rotten eggs can be discovered is when the mouth breathe oxygen at a concentration of 50 percent or greater. On occasion, this can be dangerous. By way of example, the stomach acid found in the stomach when angry may become too acidic and cause damage to the gut lining. Chronic or severe diarrhea may also occur if the pH level of the stool gets too significant. An excessive amount of oxygen at the mouth breathe can be remedied by taking the next measures. Once the mouth breathe is now begun, avoid drinking fluids that contain carbohydrates. Use breath mints to figure out this problem.
