Totally satisfied as I use this with my Roland XP60.Its amazing and I didn't not realise how useful this pedal is. Depending on the pedal you connect it to you can control any parameter of an effect. With the Boss GT-001 your able to assign multiple effects together so you could have the delay and the direct mix of an overdrive pedal come in with each effect coming in at different levels. The only issue I had was not with the pedal but setting up the pedal with the Boss GT-001. There are so many options it took a little while to work out how to set the pedal to control the effect or effects I wanted in the way that i wanted. Plug the EV-5 straight into a Mini Moog Voyager EB filter control in jack in and your hands free. Fantastic control and there's also an unobtrusive variable range rotary control neatly tucked away on the pedal itself which governs the variable range. Asking this pedal to do the same thing on another synth might mean some digging around. On the Roland JP50 (with out any tweaking) the pedal seems to control both volume and 'Super Natural' sounds resonance at the same time, but if you need it to control just the VCF on all parameters and free up your hands, then I found this on the Roland site. First, you need to connect the EV-5 to one of the foot pedal inputs on the back panel (we will use CTRL1), and assign that input (CTRL1) to a specific MIDI message in the System settings (we will set the pedal to transmit CC06 Data Entry). Press EXIT twice to return to the main screen. Press F1 (EDIT). Press F2 (LIVE SET). Press F3 (EFFECT). Press F1 (MFX1), F2 (MFX2, F3 (MFX3, or F4 (MFX4) to select the MFX you will be using - this is determined by the routing and Layer you are using for this specific effect in your Live Set. Seems a trifle fiddly, I admit, but the Roland JP50 is a complex Synthesizer and I'd definitely works. I have two, and use them to control a Strymon Timeline and BigSky respectively, and they work very well. The one issue that I would note is that the pedal sweep isn't linear, but seems to have a logarithmic sweep in my experience. This isn't much of a hindrance in terms of its functionality for me, but is something to be aware of. I note that my experience is in contrast to that of some other reviewers, so your experience may vary. The pedal is made of plastic, which is a statement that would often strike fear into gigging guitarists with heavy feet. However, this plastic is very strong and sturdy, and has stood up to a good amount of use with no signs of wear, or cracks. All in all, I have found them to be very hard-wearing, and so the plastic shouldn't be a turn-off. The cable is hard-wired to the pedal, which is handy so long as it is long enough for your purposes. I have had mine on a pedalboard for some time now, but from memory the cable is about 1m long. I also own a moog ep-3 which also works well with the softstep, but the sweep is different - the value increases faster closer to the max position, so not very linear (this works well for wah and other such effects) Build quality is also excellent and the pedal is very light - and the rubber feet keep it very steady so I don't have to worry about it sliding all over the place. PS 4.0 out of 5 stars In short, I experienced the same issue as many of you have where, the pedal does not seem to work through the full travel of the pedal and in some cases also does not ever go fully to zero volume. I went through three pedals by different manufactures before I figured out why this was happening.www.cocuknorologu.com/image/files/comfortlink-controls-manual.pdf The other three don't make much of a noticeable change for the first third and last third of the travel and this is by design of the programmed curve. So, in summary, I believe the pedals to be fine and it's the programmed expression curve in the keyboard that creates the perceived issue. I hope this helps with at least some of your issues. I am off the Roland now to see if the curves in my keyboard can be re-programmed!I purchased two of these pedals to use with a BOSS Reverb RV-6 and a TC Electronics Flashback x4. BOSS RV-6 setup is pretty straight forward. Just plug it into the expression jack and i can increase or decrease the level of the reverb while I play without having to bend down to make the adjustment. TC Electronics Flashback x4 is waaaay trickier. So, if you buy this pedal, just keep in mind that you might have to google the correct steps for using the expression pedal the way you would like. In my case, I wanted to use it to increase the level of the delay. In order to do that I had to 1) zero the time on the flashback 2) set pedal to the maximum position and then make adjustments to both the feedback and level to what I want them to be at the maximum position. 3) bring pedal to lowest position, ZERO OUT TIME again, and make adjustments to both the feedback and level to what you want them to be at the lowest position (in my case the level all the way off). LASTLY- use the tap tempo to set the desired timing AND THEN save the settings to the desired switch.It works just fine and has a control for adjusting its range. Though I certainly wouldn't expect it to survive with heavy road use, it works for me and has lasted in my home studio with no issues.This pedal is well loved my some of my colleagues, but I'm not loving the volume curve (with my Kurzweil) or the feel quite as much. I realize this is a different price point--about half the price of the Boss. I cannot recommend this pedal for use with an Alesis QS7.1.While this pedal works fine, it is plastic, lightweight, feels fragile, and doesn't instill any confidence that it would withstand the rigors of the road. When I played the VK-7 before, I could never figure out how to get my Yamaha volume pedal to work with it. This time I thought I would go with the real, Roland accessory pedals. The EV-5 pedal is made from a very light-weight plastic. It seems to work just fine, but it doesn't feel like it will hold up to the wear and tear of gigging. I read some reviews of this pedal on keyboard forums, and I can't say I wasn't warned. All of the reviews are pretty much agree with what I've seen so far. My recommendation? If you're a pro, don't buy this pedal. Find something heavier that is more to your taste and figure out how to make it work with your keyboard. (It turns out the Yamaha pedal I had works just fine with the VK-7 if you change one setting in the VK-7 or use an after-market adapter.) Although there is an adjustment dial ro set the range of expression, the sweep range of the pedal is very short and takes a lot away from its sensitivity. I returned this model (and Amazon refunded my money instantaneously with the UPS clerk scanning my return package in.) In replacement of this pedal, I purchased a Roland FV500L pedal. It's all aluminum and considerable larger (on a level with the Erie Ball). It is more expensive, but delivers several options s.namely the ability to work in mono or stereo as an inline volume pedal or an expression pedal. I've used the FV500L. I know the rotary pod inside will shoot craps in about 3 years, but in the meantime I'll have an awesome expression pedal for reasonable dollars.Please try again later. Please try again later.
