MIC1: This jack allow a mic to be connected. This is TRS-type microphone input connector. The BR-600 uses 32 MB to 1 GB CompactFlash cards with a 3.3 V power supply. To enable you to find these points accurately, the BR-600 is equipped with the Scrub function. Track Copy allows you to copy a specific part of data and then place it in a different location. In some cases, this unwanted data may occupy a significant amount of space on the memory card. An insert effects, loop effects, and Track EQ can be used simultaneously, and you can make settings for each effect as desired. The reason for this is to allow for the effects- processed (wet) sound to be recorded and monitored. However, sometimes you want to change the connection order. The algorithms that can be selected will differ for each bank. The larger the value set here, the more rapidly compression is applied. Type Select the mode of the lo-fi box. Since it suppresses the noise in synchronization with the envelope of the sound (the way in which the sound decays over time), it has very little effect on the sound, and does not harm the natural character of the sound. Type This sets the type of the preamp. The sound will be unmusical and lack distinctive pitches. Touch wah creates an automatic wah by changing the filter in response to the volume of the input. The overall volume is adjusted by the MASTER fader. FX Type This sets the type of the effect. CHORUS: A sound with a subtly shifted pitch is added to the direct sound, making the final output sound thicker and broader. When compared with guitars, pianos, and other musical instruments, the human voice generally produces a relatively unstable tone. The solo part will be played and any incorrect pitches will be fixed. Yeah, maybe I could get further if I played around with it a little but hey, why not get the help of a specialist and save time with guaranteed results. Now, even if I don t use a 100 of it, I am aware of it s potential. David does a great job explaining every feature of the BR-600 in detail without being redundant or overly didactic. Great Tutorial on BR-600 Actually the only reason I decided to buy a BR 600 instead of other similar digital recorders, is the availability of this video. The video is very straight forward, simple and takes you through the BR 600s functions in a very clear and consecutive manner. Also, the guy hosting this training is a very knowledgeable guy. Seems like you need two VERY talented and agile fingers to make a useful pattern. But all of these are fairly minor gripes if you aren't looking to be a Grammy winning ar-teest quite yet. Overall the system does all that I need it to do--record four to eight track songs, add effects, mix, and then transfer to my computer. ErikWTN 5.0 out of 5 stars One balanced adapter is included. - 64 virtual tracks allow you to record 8 tracks then bounce a mix onto two virtual tracks and then record even more tracks while listening to the mix you've already recorded. You can continue to add tracks this way until all 64 virtual tracks are full. The great thing is that, as long as you don't record over your original recordings then you can still remix everything either in the machine or by dumping all of the tracks to your computer and mixing it there. - You can record your tracks dry (no effects) but still hear the effects while you record. I've heard a lot of people bashing the manual but I think it's great. Very well thought out and easy to use. Yes, it's thick and full of information and words and stuff. But this machine is packed full of features so it required more than a pamphlet to explain it all. And they do a great job of presenting the information in a tutorial format as well as in an easily accessible reference format so you can either look up something quickly or spend some time reading and learning in depth. Cons: - No phantom power for microphones. The included card is virtually useless. Buy a 1GB card that has been tested (see the chart on Boss's website). This means that you cannot record two separate instruments onto these two tracks and have individual control. I don't know why they made half of the tracks on the machine locked like this but it's not that big of a deal because you can work around it by bouncing tracks. Basically, you can record either stereo instruments like keyboards, etc.If you have a basic understanding of recording, effects, drum machine programming then you will catch on pretty quick. - Because of the small size of the machine, plus the fact that it has a full set of drum pads, there isn't much room for a lot of buttons so you do have to dig around in the menus a lot to edit tracks or program the drums, etc., which can slow things down. The manual did not help much at all. Don't expect it to be studio quality, but its great for demos and songs on the go. The stock 128MB compact flash card is only large enough to record 1 or 2 songs at the highest quality. I would have given the rating 5 stars if it was a little more user friendly.
