Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled: “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” and “IMPORTANT NOTES” (separate sheet). These sections provide important information concerning the proper operation of the unit. Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature provided by your new unit, this manual should be read in its entirety. By rotating the knobs you can create all kinds of sounds, from warm, soft sustain to hard, powerful distortion. The DS-1 can be powered by a battery or an optional AC adaptor. The indicator lights when an effect is ON. If this indicator goes dim or no longer lights while an effect is ON, the battery is near exhaustion and should be replaced imme- diately. Rotating the knob clockwise cuts lower frequencies, creating sharp sounds. Rotating the knob counterclockwise cuts higher frequencies, creating softer, warmer sounds. DISTORTION Knob This knob controls the depth of distortion sounds and the length of sustained sounds. This will help prevent any damage to system components. AC Adaptor (PSA-Series;. Robert Keeley graciously shared his Seeing Eye and Ultra mods with the public. This kit will provide you with all of the components (high quality Panasonic and Multicomp caps and metal film resistors) you need to mod your DS-1 to Keeley's specs. The improvement in the sound, particularly the bass response, of this pedal after the mod is well worth it. See the video provided for a side by side (link below). You can play around a bit and get some interesting tones using two distortion pedals at once, or the ds-1 going through the dirty channel. You have to be careful with the amount of distortion coming from each source or it can sound very broken and lose all consistency. Same one from ancient times ) I needed one final ingredient to juice the front end. After trying I don't know after how many other pedals I finally I tried the Boss. Boom ! Their it was. With the distortion knob on almost zero it adds the final layer to a already over driving Marshall. With a DD 2, Rev 3, mini versions of the Small Stone and the Mistress in the loop I now have what I was looking for.
