I tried the 400 watts amplifier for my wife and she is happy with this. But for me I took the 1600 watts 4 channels amplifier, with 100 rms watts speakers and this combination was really perfect, the amplifier is working perfectly, the sound is great, some people waiting bad reviews about this but I think they are using the amplifier incorrectly with the wrong rms watts speakers, I always recommend to use one amplifier 50 more rms watts that your speakers. Example. If your speakers are 100 rms watts, you must to use an amplifier 150 watts rms by channel.Its not like I install 12V audio equipment all the time.I have never heard of a 9VDC requirement for the remote turn-on. It has always been 5VDC. Are there even head units that send a 9VDC signal. I can rig it up to operate off of the 12VDC with some sort of ADDITIONAL switch or something.The only place it's mentioned is in the back of the manual in the troubleshooting.I feel like I have wasted my time with this. It may be good performing amp for the price. Its the weekend so can't call BOSS to determine if there is some work around. I'm guessing I will have to send back. I can't use this.This almost burned my car down This wasn't my first time wiring a sound system in a car. I saw that the reviews for this unit were mostly positive and the price seemed excellent so I went ahead and bought it, got it wired up properly and it WORKED!!! I was very happy, the sound quality was excellent and the install went smoothly. Fast forward 9 months. I'm driving to pickup lunch with a co-worker and soon after pulling out of my parking space I smell it. I quickly turned the car off and popped the hood, and pull the fuse thinking that something must be shorting. I removed the passenger seat and was shocked to find that not a single connection had shorted and that not ONE fuse had blown. There are no signs of scorching or burning on the underside of my seat or the outside of the unit. This leads me to believe that something went critically wrong inside this unit and that the system had no sort of protection inside against this. Moral of the story here is if it looks too good to be true, It probably is. I sincerely hope that the manufacturer reaches out to me to try and help come to some sort of an agreement or replacement.I knew it was a cheap amp, but figured what the heck, if it does not work I can just send it back and get one that does. But I was wrong. I bought a head unit, speakers, and this amp, all from amazon, to replace the stereo in my airstream.I can swap speaker wires and confirm that all 4 speakers work, and I can swap RCA to confirm that I have signal coming out of four channels from the head unit, but the right side of the boss has no output. Don't buy this amp, or at least not on amazon, it is not worth the risk. Update: After sending an email to Amazon's customer service department they apologized and said that sometimes returns cannot be processed based on the value of the item and shipping cost, but they already had a new one in the mail to me and I could just keep the old one. I am glad Amazon took care of it. The channel that did work sounded great for the price, so I am looking forward to the amp working in the system.There are many reviews on here that say it is good and many that say it is bad so I thought I would give it a shot. After receiving this amp, unpacking and inspecting it (it survived shipping nicely BTW), I connected it to a big linear power supply, a dummy load and hooked in my digital oscilloscope and audio generator. I needed to clarify all the wild claims regarding the power output of this amp. After doing the math, I found that the amp will deliver 74.5 watts per channel, both channels running, into a 2 ohm load. It will deliver 38.5 watts, same set up, into a 4 ohm load, and 20.5 watts into an 8 ohm load. This is the maximum power you will get before the amp starts to clip or distort the signal badly. That is Not Bad for a unit in this price range. Be aware that I did NOT disassemble or modify this amp in any way. I tested it straight out the box. I like this amp. Matthew Stokes 5.0 out of 5 stars I recommend it to all of my friends for their car sub setups and most of the are using it now too. It also fit nicely under the center console (2003 model). I used the mounts preinstalled on the amp and have it mounted to the side of my sub box.chingjin.com/userfiles/files/case-2290-manual-transmission.pdf It has a clean look to it and the backlit boss logo looks slick. (SIDE NOTE: I have had to since cover up the backlit logo because it was reflecting very brightly at night in my rear window. This is not a reflection of boss or the amp quality, just something to keep in mind when installing.) The instillation was very simple, just using the screws to tighten down on the cables. I highly recommend getting the boss wiring kit along with this. It has all of the necessary cables for setup and they are great quality. You can’t really see it unless you move the seat forward a little, but it’s a cool touch. Pretty decent size unit. For my instal I completely bypassed the factory amp, and re-ran wire from the amp to the four speakers that exist in the car. I just set it up for left and right, the cars a two seater anyways, I don’t need a front and rear setting (I used very high quality brand new pioneer speakers all around). The sound quality is insane. I ran this unit off my pioneer head unit. It gets very loud and keeps the sound quality flawlessly. Definitely worth the purchase!!Please try again later. The sound is excellent, and after tuning the EQ a little bit to take away some of the low frequencies that cause a little distortion, I have the system dialed in to play any genre of music loud and clear. This little amp really puts out noticeable power compared to just using the head units speaker outputs. The unit is also very small and easy to conceal. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase, and for the price you can't beat it. I'll definitely look for this amp again when I do another big custom golf cart build!Please try again later. Edit: So if anyone comes accross this and wonders, then I'll go more into detail about why it is junk. 1. The amp amplifies any electrical noise inside your vehicle on top of the never ending beeping sound it already makes. (Read the other reviews about this. It can make your speakers sound blown. The amp throws random frequencies to your speakers whenever it wants because it has a built in non-adjustable crossover. It's not always giving you example: 10hz-20khz the full time if you want it. Based off what I know. If the amp you are wanting to get has an adjustable hpf and lpf then it will most likely give you the sound you need. Make sure to read reviews to see if people are having grounding issues with the amplifier causing it to make harsh noises. Still on the budget side of things you get what you pay for. Riot 400 watt amp was purchased with new BOSS speakers and head unit, customer support is offering solution;check wiring,etc. I got what I paid for and just hope the supplier will do the right thing and refund my money.
