My just under three year old Bosch Logixx fridge model no. KTR 18P20GB is running continuously and icing up at the back. There is a sensor of some sort behind a prise off cover inside, on the right but I don't know if this is the cause of the problem. I would have firstly change the thermostat in an old style fridge but I've no idea where to go with this.Is the temperature lamp flashing? I haven't got a thermometer, but the temperature in the fridge reaches a point where the contents freeze, even though the temperature is set at 5 degrees. I seem to recall that the indicator light continues to flash even when the back panel is icing up. I've plugged the pcb and sensor back in to check that the light continues to flash and will report back. The compressor continues to run when I put the temperature sensor in iced water.I've found the exploded parts diagrams on the Bosch website are pretty good for showing how things go together, and common parts are often available from other sources. I have not done a fridge, though.I'm not sure how to replace it if it is faulty as it seems firmly held. The temp light does stop flashing but the compressor keeps running. Wondering if the relay might be faulty?I believe the light stops flashing when it reaches target temperature, in which case (part, at least, of) the control circuit is working. Unplug the appliance and take the top off to gain access to the pcb and it's holder. Be careful with the top. From the looks of the service manual (It's in german) you have to press in clips on the underside at the rear, slide it back. Tilt it from the left side up, release some clips and slide out the pcb holder. Once you have this out, visually check the pcb and switch for obvious failure. If they look ok, check the main switch first. Take the wires off the switch and temporarily join them together and insulate. Loosely refit everything and plug it in. If it comes to life, you need a new switch. If still the same, it's likely the pcb has failed and you'll need to replace it. If the temperature has been too warm, check the temperature again two hours after turning it back on after the five-minute shutoff period. If the temperature has been too cold, wait 24 hours before rechecking it. As refrigerant flows through the condenser coil, the coil dissipates heat. But if this coil is dirty, it's unable to get rid of this excess heat effectively; as a result, the refrigerator must work harder to keep the contents cool. Remove the grille cover plate (also called a kick plate) for the condenser coil, which typically is at the bottom of your refrigerator; check your user manual for your model's location. Using the hose attachment on your vacuum cleaner, remove all the dust, pet hair or other debris that may be lodged around the coil. Thanks, JT Auto defrost has a most likely problem found in the timer or electronic defrost control. These are most times found inside the fresh food section and behind the temperature control panel in the photo below marked a E and in that photo it shows a defrost timer in lower arrow and a electronic defrost control in the upper arrow. The next most likely problem would be the defrost heater and defrost thermostat found in the rear of the freezer compartment. Sounds like the defrost system has failed. Our voltage for an appliance is 120 volts at 60 cycles so all the electrical components ar different and made different for different countries. Brute force was the answer. You cant lever the tongues out of the way and so cant release the handle gently. Use a piece of wood and lever the handle forward in the same direction as you open the door and it should come off. The new handle then snaps back in.
