Student 5.0 out of 5 stars This device makes that connection. Push buttons allows me to switch between my 2 computers. The advertisement hints that connecting cables are supplied. Actually, four cables, each being a generous 5 feet long, are supplied, so that you can hook up 4 computers to one device, such as a printer (like I am doing with my two computers). Additionally, most of the digital ones I've seen only have a single button that lets you 'cycle through' the four machines (although they usually are smart enough to skip those not plugged in) whereas this, with four separate buttons, again mechanical, you can instantly jump to whatever machine you want.Once you get make sure to give it a good test with all devices you have.I have tried unplugging and plugging it back but no change. Tried all the ports but no luck. I am kind of upset with AMAZON since almost everything that I have currently bought has been below standard and total waste of money.We have a laptop and a desktop and wanted them to share a printer without changing cords or using wireless. This works perfect for our application. T.M.S. 4.0 out of 5 stars Get this instead of the two-port model if you need to switch to more than two devices or if you want to have that option in the future. I got the two-port model fearing that this four-port model would force me to cycle through all four output ports even if I only had two devices connected. I bought this four-port model in addition to the two-port one, though, and found that it only cycles through an output port if it senses something connected. That is, if you only have two devices connected in the back of this four-port model and press the Select button repeatedly, it will only cycle between port one and port two. Reader in training 4.0 out of 5 stars I have three laptops and up till now I had Wireless keyboard and mouse for each laptop but this have slowly driven me insane with the clutter of three mouses three keyboards. I saw this item and it ticked most of my requirements. What I liked about it is there is no requirements for software just a manual switch to take care of things and no software. This item works a treat it switches my wireless keyboard and mouse combo without effort no locking up so far also positive it can switch to unconnected port and past it. Now just a small moan The cabling could have been thought out a little better and each connector could have been suplied with it's own switch to make controlling it better hence the 4 star.It seems inconceivable but there - certainly will not buy any more of their products. Probably a short job to write a patch and keep existing customers happy. The Eminent is a manual switch for four PC's and worked straight out of the box. Much simpler and quicker for my wife (and me) to simply press the button for PC no. 2. It is a bit light and a screw mounting hole on the rear of the case would have made it more physically manageable to hang somewhere out of the way. The weight of the cables drag it off the shelf where I had to put it. Had to wade through the reviews to find someone who said it worked with Windows 7 before buying. It might be useful if the specs contained reference to working with 64bit Window OS. Would definately buy this again. First rate service from Amazon again!!It does not light any fires of enthusiasm, but appears to do what is claimed. Through the switching hub, I now have a 10 port self-powered USB hub attached to two desktop machines, (one XP and one Win 7, both self builds), and they see the attached devices ok. I have not had time to try my laptop yet, but do not anticipate any serious problems. I have also not had time to do any heavy loading or speed test to date, so my internet hub is still on UTP. I am no enthusiast of wireless. The select button seems robust enough and I hope it will stand the test of time. Assuming this, I like, and recommend this item. The fairly low price is also very welcome. The only real criticism is the tiny user manual supplied. Take my advice and save your eyesight by downloading a large print version from the Eminent website.Reasonable price too. Pros: - Direct connections, so unlike most wireless ports you can work your printer as if it were connected properly (wireless multi ports won't get the info from your printer about ink levels, settings etc, but more importantly can't work the scan function!!) - No drivers so can use on any computer - Still working, no issues after a year Cons: - Only one out port - it would be great to find a unit with multi in and out ports but there is nothing that I can find that either works as well as this or is anywhere near as cheap, so oeverall this is the best.It works very well and am pleased with itI have successfully plugged several USB devices in to a USB multi port hub and then the hub into this device enabling me to switch multiple devices between 2 PCs. I have a camera, Seagate hard drive, barcode reader and another USB hard drive working and switchable between a windows 8.1 and an XP PC. Lars 4.0 out of 5 stars Well done for getting this right. If I unplug from the affected laptop and reconnect, all devices are back online. This doesn't happen with the Ugreen USB switch I was using before, which I replaced because of the cable mess. USB switches never seem to work perfectly with every device, but I wonder about the manual mechanism used here vs.Does the latter handle the interruption better and prevent errors. I can't say for sure. But unfortunately it seems to be a choice of tidy cables with this product or reliability with others, at least in my case.This was an abject failure, presumably because the USB 5V feed was not getting through to the mini-hub due to the different connection arrangement. Then I found this switch box, and what a little gem it is. Since it uses mechanical switching instead of a mini-hub's electronic system, it did not need a 5V feed. It uses three standard printer leads (not supplied) to connect up to the two computers and the printer, and it sits on top of my PC quite happily and gives me good access to the two push buttons to select the relevant computer. The box is quite compact (about 112 x 68 x 24mm) and looks neat. In the one week I've had it, it is easy to use and works well. Because it is a mechanical switch box, there is probably no reason why it could not be used to hook up one computer with two printers (eg Laser and photo quality inkjet), assuming suitable leads can be obtained. In summary, I like this little switch box. It solved a problem for me.I tried 2 of the 4 ports (I bough it to switch between 3 PCs so if I had 2 or more non-working ports the box was duff). I tried a selection of cables in each, and I could never get a stable connection between my PC(s) to the box to my keyboard. I've sent it back. Clearly other people have found this device works for them. It didn't for me.All I require is a manually operated USB switch that allows me to connect my desktop PC to a printer that by default is connected to my wife's desktop PC. This device allows me, at the press of a button, to route my printout data to the common printer, produce a printout, then at the press of another button re-establishes my wife's PC as the default source.I have a PC and a laptop which I now share keyboard and mouse on. My two monitors have three inputs so I just change the input - no need for a KVM. Works great, just press the button in for whichever (laptop or PC) system I am using and it just works, even when both systems are on, you can flick back and forward. Next I connected the third cable from the switch to the printer. I then tried printing from each PC by pushing the button from one PC and then the other and everything worked out fine. Before getting the printer to respond meant I had to reach around the back of my large screen and unplug and plug back the USB for the printer to read my computer command to print.
