It keeps it stable so that I can uncap other frames while the extraction is taking place. No need to hold the thank. If it is not balanced like when extracting one or three frames then I just stand on the wood structure. The second advantage of the wood platform is that it raises it so that the honey valves is high enough for a 5-gallon container. Very much worth the price.The plexigass lid cracked and I had to get a replacement. The valve had a half shredded seal. And the valve was put together backwards. The hole in the bottom was still full of sharp metal bits. Itabsolutely needs to be filed down before use. The handle keeps unscrewing as you spin the extractrator around.I got great support from their service department. I admit I was quite surprised how well and how fast they solved my little problems.
