I find them easy to control and extremely hard to break. Disclosure - I have seen some friends get unlucky and their unit has broken early on with a big crash.but more often than not I've seen these things take a beating and continue to fly. I took a video of my son flying the s107g. Sure hes flown before but this was his first time flying in a few months and he had to deal with some sidewind from n open window. Even with some moving air to contend with, he was able to easily fly it. I would say most of the bad reviews on here are from those who got unlucky. I do feel for them but as a prospective buyer you need to understand that its nothing to do with the quality of this helicopter. I have read people have trouble controlling the s107g. I find the opposite to be true. Im able to easily land mine on my helipad and also fly it through air gates at full speed. Another thing is the battery will only last about 5mins, if you are getting less than 2mins, you should get a new battery, they are quite easy to change over, just search it on youtube. A few things that might help you: 1. Put a small weight on the nose such as some bluetak. I like to put it on a hard surface and just spin the blades WITHOUT taking off. You can easily see if it needs to be trimmed. Simple turn the wheel until it doesnt spin anymore. Easier to do this on the ground before take off 3. Beginners LISTEN up. Make very small movements on the throttle when you are learning. Leave it 10mins to cool down when flat, then charge it up for about 45mins and take it off the charger. 5. Never overdischarge a battery. When it wont take off anymore, dont keep trying to fly it because you are wrecking the battery by discharging it too far. 6. Take this from an experience flier - you wont find a better value helicopter around.My son saved up his allowance for a month to buy this, it came in the mail on Friday, he played with it for about an hour before dinner, then after dinner he took it out to fly it again, and in mid-flight it went down and now no longer flies. It still powers on, the rotors still turn, but now it makes a high-pitched grinding sound as if the mechanism is encountering some resistance in rotation, and it does not lift off. Poor kid. A month of patience for less than one evening of playing with this shockingly bad toy.I googled this problem, and I tried a few things that DIDN'T work (it's not because lubrication is needed, or because the rotor shaft is loose, or because the balance bar is bent or needs to be replaced). The REAL reason for the problem is subtle breakage in a key part of the upper rotor assembly. It's not the balance bar that needs replacing, but a plastic molded part that is a point of common connection for the central rotor shaft, the upper pair of wings, and the balance bar. It is very difficult to SEE this breakage because it is mostly hidden, but a careful examination will reveal that this break destabilizes the upper rotor assembly. Make sure you have a small screwdriver set, and get to work. A little bit of silicone spray lubricant (not WD40, because that will attract gunk) can't hurt. Note that because of small variances in part sizes and screw sizes, I found it best to replace as much of the entire upper motor assembly as you can, rather than just this one piece that breaks. Also note that the replacement kits that I got didn't have every single part (namely, missing the horizontal brackets that hold the wings). Now, instead of two duds plus one functional, I have THREE working copters. Hope this helps. (Oh, and I rate this toy 4 stars, and not 5 because of lack of instructions for how to deal with what seems to be a very common and fixable problem.)Sorry, we failed to record your vote. The only change I would make would be to make it clear that the controller requires 6 AA batteries, which are not included. Please try again It arrived before the promised date and the machine itself is great fun, and very tough (still flying despite multiple crashes). Had to go on the internet to get some tips on flying. In particular, it will not launch slowly (it just skids sideways and crashes), but needs a good push of the throttle to get it off the ground. And once in the air, it takes a while (at least it took me a while) to develop the right instincts in terms of using the two control toggles. The propellers are safe with this drone. In my opinion after seeing the drone fly, I would recommend flying outdoors especially when conducting the cool stunt maneuvers. The drone can pick up some speed and height very rapidly. This product comes with the controller, charger cord, drone, and manual. It requires 4 AA batteries. It also includes a landing pad. It is a good idea to read the safety instructions mainly concerning the battery care. If you are not going to be using the drone for 10 days. It is a good idea to discharge the battery (non-removable hidden LiPo battery) by doing a quick flight will discharge the battery. To increase the LiPo battery life, the battery prefers to be in the area of 20 to 86 charge. The LiPo battery does heat up during flight. After using the drone, allow it to cool before plugging into the charger. I was impressive with the size and durability of the controller. The joysticks are easy to move up and down and can take the abuse from a kid without breaking it. The controller can handle a drop and maintains its integrity. Around my kids, toys need to be unbreakable. NOTE: Check out the Gyroscope Drone after use. I found bush leaves wrapped around the propeller. Don’t worry this drone has overcurrent protection to shut off when a propeller is stopped to prevent the motor from overloading. This VIDEO shows my son providing a demo of flying the drone. I noticed that the reaction time from moving the Joysticks on the controller to the drone to be very responsive. To keep the drone from drifting side by side when hovering, especially trying to land, you can use the left joystick it in the down position while the right joystick is moved up or down. This is a super fun drone to fly indoors or outdoors that you will enjoy with your kids. This drone is not just the basic fly high, low, and hover. Sometimes the little things go a long way to create joy and balance in our lives. Most certainly this helicopter is one of these little things for us.Since the product uses a unibody frame it won't fall out of alignment like other cheap drones. You should be able to fly this thing plenty of times after wrecking it. You can also bump into walls without crashing thanks to the unibody frame and the rotor protectors. I can't stress enough how much I like the design of this product. I wish it was still available so I could buy one for myself. Seeing it is no longer available I really regret putting this one in the dirty santa pool. I bought another drone hoping for the same experience but no dice. I already have an amazon return request to send the other one off because it's absolute garbage. Ron 5.0 out of 5 stars Recently decided to purchase one and try it out as a novelty item. Well, after an extensive learning curve on trying to master controls and surviving countless crashes, at least 5 to 6 cycles through 3 batteries, I have to say the unit has come through with only bumps and bruises but no serious damage to the actual mechanism. This machine has gone far beyond my expectations and is still wiling to perform the tasks I ask of it. It just seems to be a well engineered unit with built-in longevity. I could say that the transmitter controls should be more sensitive or that the batteries have more run time, but for the cost of the unit providing so much entertainment I'm willing to look the other way. Sure hope it lasts a little longer. Well done Amazon!We gave it to him for Christmas. But it isn't because he was purposely crashing. If you have never flown an RC helicopter before (and we had not) practice lifting off and hovering and touching down first. Do not let off that left throttle too fast and make you helicopter blades stop spinning or an imminent crash will happen. We figured this all out too late. We bought him a replacement and emphasized that we all needed to practice hovering before anything else and work occasional steering into it. I don't think we will have a problem again. At least not for a long while. In fact, my husband and I both wanted to fly our son's chopper so we went ahead and ordered ourselves one, too. So, remember to learn to hover and to work the controls slowly and not over react and you will be golden.It was delivered earlier than expected in an appropriate package and a nice white inner box which I used to click the pictures. By the way, its equally exciting for 'beginner' adults interested in drones. Having used the toy only for two days with some minor crashes, its easily the only toy each of us in my family enjoyed flying or just watching it fly indoors. The unit in the package was almost assembled in the form as shown in the pictures with many important accessories including two extra batteries (and one more already attached with the copter), two sets of big propellers, a pair of side (small) propellers, a tail blade, a screw driver with five screws, a charging cable with LED indicator, and a handy manual of course. The helicopter body is a combination of metal and plastic parts (not looking cheap) - arguably a good mix for robust but light flying machine. The big plastic propellers are not strong enough to leave scratches on most surfaces - good for indoor flying, and the smaller ones are covered. Flying Experience: It was super cool to just connect the battery cable, switch on the machine and the remote control, wait for a couple of seconds for connection between the two, and you are ready to fly it. Fortunately the battery came almost fully charged and we could start practicing lifting and landing the helicopter at the same spot. Everybody loves the hovering feature, a two second idling followed by noticeably increased speed and force for lift-off anywhere from 1 to 2 meters. Nothing doing and the copter hovers and moves forward real slow. Feels like you are a pro pilot. A next key press and it lands back graciously. The replacement batteries are so useful as it comes handy continuing the fun. The charging cable is good quality and charges the battery within an hour. The next thing we want to see is its performance outdoors. Waiting for the permitting weather. Can't wait to add more to these notes with some cool outdoor videos!I decided to charge the batteries and do one test. I already have a drone so I am familiar with the operating. I pushed the one key start and it took off as expected. I immediately pushed the one key start again expecting it to land which it did but it did not shut off. Instead, it started to skitter across the floor eventually hitting the wall and continued across the floor again as I pushed and held the one key start. The balance bar on the top broke. I have sent an email to support trying to get the part and am applying to return the item. Within 12 hours of sending the email to the company, I got a response offering a no charge replacement because they said the description I sent indicated a faulty motherboard - absolutely amazing!It was not even able to withstand even a minor collision with the wall. Ironically, that is the part that was not provided as a spare. The controls are ok and the helicopter remains stable for the most part but i won't call it very agile compared to others i have flown. There seems to be a slight lag in response. The battery life is not that great but then the supplier provides 3 in total that sort of makes up for that. It is just a pain to keep changing and then put them on charge for a long time. I would not recommend this product for the poor quality.After reading the reviews for this product I bought it to replace a cheap Air Hog helicopter my son bought with his own money that broke after the first week or so of playing with it. This helicopter is 100 times better than the Air Hog helicopter and is really easy to fly, I love how the throttle stays put so you can apply just enough to make it hover and then you don't have to adjust it until landing.
