I don't know if it's made by a different manufacturer or what, but this didn't work nearly as well as the first one I bought. For it to work at all you need to fiddle around moving the turn dial to get the light to line up, but this only works if you get lucky.Position 1 has no throughput, Position 2 has good throughput, Position 3 has intermittent throughput. Vendor gave a refund after I contacted Amazon.The plugs do not make a good connection and the quality is very poor.I am very pleased with the quality.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. All of my cables fit snugly into the toslink ports, perhaps because they are all made by Monoprice, which has been my go to retailer for av cables for years. Glad to see them part of Amazon Prime. My usage scenario: My Onkyo a9010 integrated amp has only one toslink input. Connecting the optical out from my tv to the amp worked great. Then I decided to add a Chromecast audio. You can easily use one of the amp's line inputs to connect the CCA but I prefer an all digital solution if possible and the CCA can connect by toslink cable to the playback device. So I needed something that would allow me to easily switch between the tv and the CCA and this fills the bill. There are other more configurable and flexible solutions available but they are more expensive and not as straightforward to operate. This device works well for its intended purpose, once you figure out how to turn the dial.Well, it turns alright; you just have to push the little piece of plastic in first. It's some sort of interlock to make sure that the selection is locked in exactly, because if the internal parts don't align to a high precision, your optical signal will not go through and you will have no audio.http://suara.ru/img/bosch-integral-3-manual.xml Since the signal is digital, a less than perfect connection will not degrade the quality of the audio; either there will be enough SNR that the digitization works, or it will chop out or stop working entirely; there's not much in-between. This is an extremely simple device. The ports seem to fit my AmazonBasics TOSLINK cables just fine, and I wasn't able to experience any looseness in the connection like some people mentioned in their reviews. The internal 3-way switch that connects to each port seems to be basically sound. In short, the device looks cheap, it feels cheap, but in the end I was able to get it to work, and it does what it says it'll do. I even tried switching between different inputs while both inputs were playing sound, and I didn't hear any kind of distortion or crackling or pops -- just a clean switch between one stream and the other. I use it to switch between my TV and computer, and connect the output to my SteelSeries H Wireless base station for wireless listening. I am not in love with this device; it is just one more gadget I have on my desk that fits its purpose without being glamorous or even very ergonomically friendly. It's also much larger than you might expect from the picture. But you know what? I didn't expect much out of this device, and it performs THE primary (only!) function it is designed to perform, without, what I can detect, any serious flaws.Just needed a simple selector box to pass the optical signal without unplugging anything and without buying a full home theater amplifier. What a great idea! Unfortunately, this device does not actually work. I think I might have had it working for a little bit on one of the ports, but it basically does not work at all. Missed the return cutoff, so now I'm stuck with tossing this thing in the trash can. I guess you have to pay more to get a device like this that actually works. Also sometimes really wiggle it and push the button to get the optical connection to seat internally. Be gentle with the internal connection idiot kids will ruin these immediately.It does what it is supposed to do. If I had one gripe (and admittedly this is nit picking) it's the color. Would rather of had it black so it wasn't so obvious, but all in all a good product that does as advertised. RecommendedMy outbound toslink always gets ejected when I switch inputs. After switching to another input, I have to push the part right in front of the button in order to get the spring to make a connection to the toslink, otherwise no signal. I would not recommend this to anyone, spend a little more money and you will be much happier.I would get it to work until I plugged something else in, and barely moving the device would cause the one port that was working before to fail. The problem with this is that moving it is absolutely unavoidable because you have to rotate the switch on the top. You are much, much better off manually switching plugs.This isn't necessarily a fault, unless you have limited space to position it. The device is also somewhat lighter than I anticipated, which gives it a flimsy cheap feel overall. The first time I hooked it up to my AV system I was very unsatisfied with its performance, since only the left audio channel was being relayed through the device properly. I then opened up the device as other reviewers have recommended and re-positioned the internal cables to ensure they were all properly aligned. I hooked up the device again and it is now working properly as advertised. It can also be used to take input from two devices, and output through a single, using it in reverse of what the box states. That was why I bought it in the first place. There's also no indication that there is a button you have to press to select your input, either, which also had me worried for until I found it, there on the knob itself. The material used is plastic, and it does feel a little cheap, however it does exactly what I wanted it to do, and at a price I'm comfortable with. Stars were taken off for lack of clarity, and for the cheap feel of it. The design seems solid enough so far, but who knows how long before it wears out. At this price, however, I'm okay with having to replace it down the road if it comes to it. Addendum: this product stopped functioning correctly shortly after this review was written. I was able to take the device apart and temporarily fix it, but it continues to not function properly. While the design is incredibly basic and simplistic, the optic cable inside seems to continuously pop out of place enough to prevent a connection. Again, it takes only a few screws removed and a little bit of effort to repair it, though it seems the design itself is flawed. I decided to open up the replacement unit myself (only 4 screws were holding the unit together) and discovered that it is a very simple design but the cable was loose within the unit. I just need to use some type to secure the cable and wiggle a little every time I turn the selector switch and it will work. The signal may get lost because of cables so I would recommend good quality optical cables for same.We use it to switch our soundbar's audio input from our TV set to our multi-CD player.
