I had both of them on a Comp-arf Yak and as stated above, the 3W is noticeably more powerful. Weight is approximately the same with the DA slightly less. I've run both on stacks and both on cans. Either way the up line performance is the same if you run a 3B - Mejzlik 25x12 on the 3W and a 2B - PT Models 27x10 with the DA. Your up line performance is sluggish. The down line breaking is noticeably better with the 3W combo but the 3D performance is better with the DA combo, for obvious reasons. Were on our fourth ignition with the 3W but only two were bad, one 4.8 and one 6v. The second 4.8 was traded for a 6v free of charge by Cactus and the fourth, (6v), has been running for about a year with out problems. My preference for IMAC with our YAK would be the 3W combo, because of the all around smooth power band and breaking. My son's preference because he's starting to get into 3D is the DA combo. If I had to chose between the two I would probably pick the DA only because it seems to run a little smoother without the occasional need for tuning, it's slightly less weight and the finished product is a little nicer looking. However never let it be said that it's more powerful than the 3W. The 3W wins that category hands down. PS. My 3W is for sale with all the extras. It runs great, I'm just funding a new 42 Aerotech Hope this helps. BillIt was possible to get the older plastic block tune right with fuel pooling in it but the (too rich) to (too lean) buffer a lot was narrower trying to run motor rich on learning curve. All rights reserved.http://www.kmkonsult.cz/userfiles/bosch-impact-drill-manual.xml Multi-rotors (Drones) Drones Talk Multi-rotor Beginner Specific Models of Multi-Rotors and Drones Micro Multi-rotors Mini Multi-rotors Aerial Pictures and Video Showcase Scratchbuilt Multi-rotors Multi-rotor Electronics Multi-rotor Power Systems Multi-Rotor Apps and Related Software Multi-rotor Events FPV (First-Person View) RC Aircraft Flying and RC Vehicle Operation. Forum questions or problems Test Posting Forum This is my first gas engine, and was hoping to seek some advice. What prop sizes should I use, and how long does the break in occur for. I have heard everything from just put it on the plane and fly it.to make sure that you bench it for at least 4 hours before mounting it on the engine. Is there a specific blend I should use if I bench it first?.should I just bench run it at idle. Any help would be appreciated Best, Andy K The choice is really up to you as to how you break the engine in. I have the same engine and I've flown it without even touching the needle valves on the engine. It's a bit rich but I prefer to keep it that way for the first couple gallons of fuel and then I will adjust. I'm using a NX 27X10 prop and the engine handles it just fine. Awsome power!!!With my 3W56 I secured it to a saw horse outside the shop. After 2 hours the horse was covered with oily goop with a trail of sludge blown back behind the engine. If you don't have a place to make a big mess just fly it but fly it easy. Set the needles a bit ritch for a couple flights. Wony hurt it a bit.Regarding a break in oil, I will consult the manual, but what do most people do. Best, Andy If you want to learn how it sounds when too ritch or too lean then learn it's sounds on the bench. Problem is it's tough to pick the bench up and position the engine in different attitudes like it will do when flying. Such as, how long will it idle inverted in a flat spin, so flying to break it in works best for those with lots of experience, but is not a good idea if it's your first gasser.http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/67877I use Lawnboy ashlees II (you can get it at Lowes or order it online from Lowes) at the 32:1 for 5 gallons or there abouts. I don't bench run as the heat on the engine gets pretty high when you don't have forward air going over it and you just rely on the prop wash. Run it slightly rich.you get a slight burble at inverted but not enough to kill the engine. After close to the 5 gallons I switch to Redline at 50:1.you can use anything out there though (Bel Ray, Pennzoil, Mobil, Amsoil etc etc etc). You can tune the engine then to get rid of the burble. Wait about another 5-10 gallons and lean it out some more. Try to find what the local guys are flying with.if its something common then do the same and you can share fuel and costs. I found amsoil to leave a black residue awhile back and the carbon build up was a little higher. Performance of the engine though was the same as Redline (which I'm using now). Redline to me was just cleaner is all. Only suggestion is don't be in a hurry to lean it out. These motors run all day long rich.they have plenty of power.leaning it out too soon only reduces the end life of the motor and for what.100 rpm? You wouldn't notice that in flight. One day you'll go out to fly and the engine just isn't putting out the power it did last week. That's when you adjust the needles. On oils make sure you mix by the oil directions, thats more important then the ratio. Heat has a much to do has oil in break-in. Keep the throttle moving. The rings will seat quickly. I now use 80:1 in all my engines. One engine is 18 years old and only one set of rings. DennisEvery 3 or 4 flights I have to lower the trim on the idle to slow it down. The engine is set on the rich side and will just break up slightly when hot on a long vertical run. It is now turning 6800 on the ground.https://www.chorwacjaapartamenty.com/images/3ware-7506-4lp-manual.pdf There are a LOT of ways to runin the engine and if you are not real familiar with gas engines I recomend flind someone where you fly that runs large gas engines and spends his time flying not working on it. If he has it working he can help you get yours on the road to success as well. RickWhy wouldn't you trust the engine MFG suggestions.I'm sure they are out there but they are a minority. All the suggestions here have been very good. If you look at the avg post.it suggests using lawn boy for break in while you fly. Then moving to a synthetic at its recommended ratio and amount. If you don't know the answer feel free to ask around. Of course some info is poop and some is gold.its your call to find which is which. Why wouldn't you trust the engine MFG suggestions. If it was a haphazard or poorly produced manual I could understand the reasoning behind seeking more assistance, but since it's not it looks like someone just does not want to follow directions. Rather than ask all the questions to obtain a poll or reach a consensus why not just do it the way you feel like and accept the consequences of your actions. None of the outside methods are going to do squat for you if the engine has a problem, and none will be there for you when 3w refuses to provide service on an engine where the warranty was voided in the first tank of gas. Yes, 3w engineers most certainly can tell what ratios were run and of what general type of oil. You have an engine manufactured by a company that absolutely holds the purchaser to 100 of the intent noted in the manual.Use of this site indicates your consent to the Terms of Use. I have changed the reeds as one side was chipped. I have changed the reed block, I have changed the card. I have tried a different ignition. I cannot get this engine to run, it just pops on choke. Choke off 3rd flick it either pops again once or fires and runs backwards. I have checked for spark, there is good spark on both plugs. Changed the plugs, still the same. Pulled the tank, checked the plumbing, all good. Removed and cleaned the mesh inside the card. Still the same mess. About to use this as a paper weight. Does anyone have any ideas??? Hi, have checked this with the marks aligned its very close to TDC. Hub has two magnets one red and one silver. Silver is reset and red fires. All that seems to be fine. I think Im going to pull the hub anyway and double check that the keyway is still intact. The hub should only be able to go back one way only. Timing could be too retarded ( starting backwards) - but must be far out if it wont run Timing could be too retarded ( starting backwards) - but must be far out if it wont run. Checked reed block found two reeds damaged, so changed those.Checked all the gaskets reeds block, carb etc, everything is good. The carb is getting plenty fuel, no problem with fuel, if you rotate the prop without choke you can see it drawing fuel. Also check compression both sides are equal. Motor is mounted right now without the cowl. As i said it ran twice at the field and then not again. I'm going to pull the hub and check just to make sure that the timing is right. How is the ignition battery? (and dont ask me how i got a very sore arm after 3hrs of flicking a prop a few weeks back ) ignition switch. How is the ignition battery? (and dont ask me how i got a very sore arm after 3hrs of flicking a prop a few weeks back ) ignition switch.Pulled the hub and keyway still intact, nothing moved.DO NOT GO OVER 6VOLT, it will ruin your ignition. So fitting a new ignition without correcting the voltage will put you back to square one. DO NOT GO OVER 6VOLT, it will ruin your ignition. So fitting a new ignition without correcting the voltage will put you back to square one. Ignitions, wich were built before 2003 need 4,8V (4 cells). The IIS ignition system may not be attached to a voltage regulator. This is already integrated and regulates the input voltage to 5V.DO NOT GO OVER 6VOLT, it will ruin your ignition. So fitting a new ignition without correcting the voltage will put you back to square one. This ignition is II2 which takes a 2 cell lipo. The easiest way to check this is to find a dark place to flick the engine over (with the cowl off), and look out for any arcing between plug cap and cylinder head. In the light this is more difficult to see, which is why I recommend a dark area. I'm not saying that this is definately the problem, but you've exhausted pretty much all the other possibilities, so why not try this one? Pulled the hub off last night and guess what the keyway has sheared off so looks like my timing was way off. Did a test before pulling the hub, moved the sensor to max to the right which would normally be advancing the timing and motor started being a bit more lively to the point where it would run and then die.still too far retarded. Will know in the morning if this solved the problem.damn 3w. Pulled the hub last night and found the woodrift key had sheared causing the timing to be way out, stupid should of checked right in the beginning. Have no idea when that happened, usually it happens when ur engine backfires badly but have only run this engine once.anyway back in business. Did aircraft international rebuild it or did you do it yourself. How many gal of fuel since new rings etc? What was the reason for rebuilding. Tired or Overheated. Thanks Lorne. Never run, mounted, or exposed to harsh language. Purchased with the intent of installing in an Exclusiv Modellbau 3.38m Decathlon. Decided to bump up into the vicinity of 150 cc power plant for the Bellanca, and I am interested in a possible trade, plus or minus boot, for same. Package is complete to include the 4.8 to 7.4 (6 volt nominal) 4-wire ignition module, All paperwork, and a set of NIB Supersonic Smoke Mufflers. I am pre-disposed to new, and lean heavily towards 3W and DA. If you have something used that has had a recent documented service visit and received a clean bill of health, and has not been used since, or are willing to send yours off for a check-up before delivery to me, I am certainly interested in discussing that as a possible trade. Telephone: (202) 453-7982.In this competition, the Department is using three absolute priorities to encourage State educational agencies (SEAs) to consider new approaches to their State assessment systems. Two of these priorities, Absolute Priorities 1 and 2, build on the flexibility in section 1204 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA), which establishes the Innovative Assessment Demonstration Authority (IADA). Students in those schools would take the innovative assessment in place of the statewide assessment and their results would be included in the State's accountability system. Over a period of five years, the SEA would scale up the innovative assessment to eventually replace the statewide assessment. Absolute Priorities 1 and 2 encourage States to use CGSA funds to improve alignment with and support related work through the IADA. During the initial demonstration period (as defined in ESEA section 1204(b)(3) and 34 CFR 200.104 (d)), up to seven SEAs may be approved for IADA. After the initial demonstration period, and upon meeting the requirements in ESEA section 1204(d), the Secretary may grant IADA flexibility to additional SEAs. Absolute Priority 2 in this CGSA competition aims to support SEAs that are planning to apply for the IADA authority and Absolute Priority 1 is for SEAs that are currently implementing an approved IADA plan. Approval for a CGSA grant for those SEAs planning to apply for IADA does not imply or infer that the Department will ultimately approve that SEA to implement its subsequent IADA proposal. However, the Department believes that the work to plan for IADA will strengthen the State's assessment system, even if the SEA is not ultimately granted IADA flexibility. Absolute Priority 3 is from the notice of final priorities published on August 8, 2016 in the Federal Register ( 81 FR 52341 ) (2016 NFP) and focuses on States that are developing innovative assessment item types and design approaches for their assessment systems. The Department believes that innovative item types and innovative assessment approaches can allow students to gain valuable experience by demonstrating complex work and critical thinking skills. Assessments can improve student learning by providing data that can support and inform instruction, particularly if the data are timely and targeted. As such, the Department believes it is important for applicants under this priority to focus their proposals on the complex tasks of developing, evaluating, and implementing new, innovative item types or developing approaches to transforming traditional summative assessment forms into more innovative forms. Since a planning grant is intended to provide support only during the preparation of an IADA proposal, this will give an SEA or consortium of SEAs sufficient time to prepare an application for submission. Similarly, the Department anticipates that the budget request for a planning grant will be substantially lower than for an IADA implementation grant under Absolute Priority 1, both because the project period would be shorter and because the work would be more targeted, preliminary, and smaller in scope. In brief, these uses include developing or improving assessments for English learners; developing or improving models to measure and assess student progress or student growth on assessments; developing or improving assessments for children with disabilities; allowing for collaboration with institutions of higher education or other organizations to improve the quality, validity, and reliability of State academic assessments; measuring student academic achievement using multiple measures of student academic achievement from multiple sources; and evaluating student academic achievement using comprehensive academic assessment instruments (such as performance and technology-based academic assessments, computer adaptive assessments, projects, or extended performance task assessments) that emphasize the mastery of standards and aligned competencies in a competency-based education model. An SEA, or consortium of SEAs, applying for funds under any of the absolute priorities in this CGSA competition must describe in its application how it is meeting one or more of these six allowable uses of funds. Absolute Priorities 1 and 2 are from the Department's notice of final priorities published elsewhere in this issue of the Federal Register Under 34 CFR 75.105 (c)(3), we consider only applications that meet one of these priorities. The Secretary intends to create three separate funding slates, one for each absolute priority. The Secretary intends to award at least one grant under each absolute priority for which applications of sufficient quality are submitted. As a result, the Secretary may fund applications out of the overall rank order. Eligible applicants must specify which absolute priority they are applying under in the project abstract. Start Printed Page 25424 If applying as part of a consortium (or in partnership with other SEAs), each SEA must be approved for IADA as of the date of its CGSA application; and If applying for CGSA as part of a consortium (or in partnership with other SEAs), each SEA must individually meet this requirement; and If applying for CGSA as part of a consortium (or in partnership with other SEAs), each SEA must provide an assurance that it intends to apply for flexibility under the IADA; The definitions of “Child with a disability,” “English learner,” and “Universal design for learning” are from section 8101 of the ESEA ( 20 U.S.C. 7801 ). The definitions of “Demonstrates a rationale,” “Logic model,” “Project component,” and “Relevant outcome” are from 34 CFR 77.1. Start Printed Page 25425 Evidence may pertain to an individual project component or to a combination of project components ( e.g., training teachers on instructional practices for English learners and follow-on coaching for these teachers). An applicant that does not have an active SAM registration can still register with Grants.gov, but must contact the Grants.gov Support Desk, toll-free, at 1-800-518-4726, in order to take advantage of this flexibility. Because we plan to make all application materials public, you may wish to request confidentiality of business information. For additional information please see 34 CFR 5.11 (c). However, under 34 CFR 79.8 (a), we waive intergovernmental review in order to make awards by the end of FY 2020. We recommend that you (1) limit the application narrative to the equivalent of no more than 65 pages and (2) use the following standards: In other words, we recommend that the entirety of the project narrative, including the aforementioned discussion and any attachments to the project narrative, be limited to the equivalent of no more than 65 pages. The only allowable attachments other than those included in the project narrative are outlined in Part 6, “Other Attachments Forms,” in the application package. Reviewers will be instructed not to follow hyperlinks if included. Applicants are encouraged to submit applications that meet the page limit following the standards outlined in this section rather than submitting applications that are the equivalent of the page limit applying other standards. Therefore, we strongly encourage each potential applicant to notify us of the applicant's intent to submit an application for funding and which absolute priority the applicant intends to address. This notification should be brief and identify the SEA applicant and, in the case of consortia applicants, the SEA that it will designate as the fiscal agent for an award. Applicants that do not provide this notification may still apply for funding. In determining the need for the proposed project, the Secretary considers the extent to which specific gaps or weaknesses in services, infrastructure, or opportunities have been identified and will be addressed by the proposed project, including the nature and magnitude of those gaps or weaknesses. In determining the significance of the proposed project, the Secretary considers the extent to which the proposed project is likely to build local capacity to provide, improve, or expand services that address the needs of the target population. In determining the quality of the design of the proposed project, the Secretary considers the following factors: In determining the quality of the services to be provided by the proposed project, the Secretary considers: In determining the adequacy of resources for the proposed project, the Secretary considers the extent to which the costs are reasonable in relation to the number of persons to be served and to the anticipated results and benefits. In determining the quality of the management plan for the proposed project, the Secretary considers: In determining the quality of the evaluation, the Secretary considers the extent to which the methods of evaluation are thorough, feasible, and appropriate to the goals, objectives, and outcomes of the proposed project. The Secretary may also consider whether the applicant failed to submit a timely performance report or submitted a report of unacceptable quality. Under 2 CFR 3474.10, the Secretary may impose specific conditions and, in appropriate circumstances, high-risk conditions on a grant if the applicant or grantee is not financially stable; has a history of unsatisfactory performance; has a financial or other management system that does not meet the standards in 2 CFR part 200, subpart D; has not fulfilled the conditions of a prior grant; or is otherwise not responsible. In doing so, we must consider any information about you that is in the integrity and performance system (currently referred to as the Federal Awardee Performance and Integrity Information System (FAPIIS)), accessible through SAM. You may review and comment on any information about yourself that a Federal agency previously entered and that is currently in FAPIIS. We may notify you informally, also. The GAN also incorporates your approved application as part of your binding commitments under the grant. When the deliverable consists of modifications to pre-existing works, the license extends only to those modifications that can be separately identified and only to the extent that open licensing is permitted under the terms of any licenses or other legal restrictions on the use of pre-existing works. Additionally, a grantee or subgrantee that is awarded competitive grant funds must have a plan to disseminate these public grant deliverables. This dissemination plan can be developed and submitted after your application has been reviewed and selected for funding. For additional information on the open licensing requirements please refer to 2 CFR 3474.20. This does not apply if you have an exception under 2 CFR 170.110 (b).
