Reken 2.0 out of 5 stars Covered in dust. There's hardly any benefit in making it wireless if you have to find it, plug it in, pull it out, and store it for those of us who move our machines on a twice-daily basis. My friend has used the wired version for graphics work for years, and says the optical accuracy is terrible. Laser has been out a decade and a half. That means extra movement and clicking, which contributes to fatigue and strain. That leaves Windows Calculator, I guess. I thought I could deal with these downsides before purchase, but I end up only pulling out this beast when I'm IN a lot of pain, not to prevent pain. And even then, it's really too big and odd to use anywhere but a desk. I'm more likely to pull out my Anker ergonomic or my pen-like mouse, but those have some huge compromises as well. That wouldn't be so disappointing if there were a lot of great, modern ergonomic alternatives, but I'm still searching.I've had carpal tunnel surgery in both wrists, with a follow up surgery on my right wrist, and still had pain using a conventional mouse. Let me say that this mouse took the pain away almost immediately. It caused a little bit of pain in other parts of my hand because you are using different muscles to use it, but it wasn't bad and went away in a few days. I can use this mouse every day and have ZERO pain now in my wrist. Based on that alone, I would give it 5 stars. However, it loses points for functionality and precision.http://detsindustrial.com/images/3m-x20-multimedia-projector-manual.pdf I work for a law firm and do a lot of precision work including filling in forms in Word documents that require a lot of selecting, copying, and pasting. I used to be extremely FAST, but I feel like this mouse has slowed me down by about 25 (maybe more). But I guess it's a trade off for having absolutely no pain. And based on that, I am giving it 4 stars. If you have had CTS wrist problems like me, where nothing else has worked including surgeries, I would recommend this mouse. If you have no problem using a regular mouse and do a lot of precision work, then by all means go with a regular mouse. I am still on the hunt for an ergonomic mouse that is both precise AND pain-free, and have tried several, but I can't seem to find the perfect one. So far this has been the best pain reliever for me.This 3M mouse has not completely eliminated the discomfort in my hand but has eliminated the pain I had in my index finger from left clicking. My palm measures 3.25 inches across and I wear medium gloves. I hope this helps others with hands that fall in between sizes. It became unbearable at some point so I changed several things. Some of these are not relevant to this product but I'll go through them anyway in case it helps someone with similar problems: - I bought an adjustable chair for my personal flat because the furnished chairs were way too low compared to the table and it was forcing a bad angle on my arms. - I switched to an ergonomic keyboard at work - I bought this ergonomic mouse It's a mix of things so it's difficult to attribute the success of the changes to any one of them, but I have tried using a regular mouse a couple of times since then and it quickly becomes disagreeable so I'm pretty confident my ergonomic mouse is helping a lot.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I liked it, but once the pain in my wrist went, I went back to my old one. A lot of these problems tend to be in relation as to how you are sitting at your desk, so I would be getting onto your HR or IT dept to arrange an ergonomics assessment, if that doesn't work, order the mouse.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I work at a computer 9-5.30 and now use this all day. It does take some getting used to. When I first started using it, I found it very hard to click where I wanted. I had to put the mouse sensitivity a lot lower than my previous mouse. After a few weeks use I would say I was almost as accurate as a regular mouse (though I imagine you would struggle to play a FPS game well). I find the thumb buttons difficult to click and my thumb joint closest to my palm starts to ache after a while. What I found most annoying is that the easiest button to click (the large side button you can press with any finger) is assigned to middle click and 3M don't appear to offer any way to remap it to primary click. I got around this problem using a 3rd party free program called AutoHotKey, which allowed me to remap the large button to left click. If you're interested I used the following settings: MButton::LButton LButton::RButton RButton:: MButton With the large button mapped to primary click I love this mouse again. Before I remapped it I was considering buying an alternate ergonomic mouse. I think this mouse would be perfect if the large button was split and could be set to left and right click.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again My hands are big but not huge, so I think people may need to be mindful of this when purchasing the product. The batteries have needed replacing every month or so but it does get a lot use. There's a switch on the base to allow you to turn it off when not in use. Using this would probably improve battery life but I always forget to use it. To sum up, I'm pleased with it but If it was a tad bigger (taller) Id give it 5 stars.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I use voice dictation as much as possible but still needed to move around a lot of things with the mouse. I tried a couple of ergonomic designs which didn't help that much as they still needed use of the finger. However this one is amazing - just uses the thumb and allows you to rest your index finger completely. The really cool thing is that on the Mac you can still use the Mac mouse with your left hand, giving you the ability to use both mice at once to do things like scroll and select. Like all new things it took some getting used to, depressingly slow at first, but now I'm away and I think faster than I was before!!Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again It's a mouse it should plug in and play. I have other wireless mice that work fine. Considering getting the wired version or the penguin postrite mouse instead as it switches to right and left handed as I use both when I start to get rsi pain. If you have RSI the best thing to get used to is take a 3-5 min break every 20-30 min. I got a break timer app on phone and it's a great reminder. I have a work related book I read for a bit standing up on a book holder so I give my hands a break.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Pros: Comfy grip position, very light to move around. Cons: Left mouse button only works about half the time. This is possibly due to the wireless nature of the device, but I have (and have had) several Microsoft wireless mice before and never had this problem. Incredibly annoying as you think you've click something (the button makes the click sound) but the computer never picks up the click. I tried repositioning the wireless receiver, and the mouse etc, no improvement. Also no scroll wheel. The button on the shaft, when clicked, locks the mouse in scroll mode, so you can sort of scroll with it, but its not as good as scroll wheel. However this was not a major issue for me, I could live with that. What I could not live with was the button issue. Sent back the first one to amazon, who were brilliant, and shipped out a replacement immediately. However the replacement unit suffered the same issue, therefore its gone back for a refund. Might order the wired version and see if thats any better but I cannot recommend this unit.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I have to say it has really helped and I would recommend this to anyone with a similar problem, The only drawback is getting used to the 'scroll' button but even that can be overcome with one notable exception. Anyone who plays an action game or an interactive game may find that you cannot use this as you would a scroll on a wheel mouse, that is to say to zoom the screen in and out. I have got round this by having 2 mice attached to the pc at the same time, this egonomic one and a normal 3 button wheel scroll mouse. Hopefully this will help some people to decide if this is suitable for their needs. Overall I count it as a success.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again After 2 days it was clearly the mouse. This thing is worth every penny and more and is so much easier to use than I thought. Moving the pointer by moving your whole arm actually gives you more control as you have some weight to stop jerky movements. The scroll is easier than a wheel as you just click the lower buttons and drag the mouse in the direction you want to go. The further you move it, the faster it scrolls. No more rolling a wheel all day. You hold the mouse as if you would naturally rest your arm on the desk so I see why it works in terms of relieving stress on the joint. An old fashioned mouse makes you twist your wrist and stretch your fingers, not so with this. If you have wrist pain or a warm itching feeling then it is likely to be the mouse. Buy one even if you don't have pain as it will prevent the discomfort I've had for the past 12 months. Love it. Well Done 3M as usual.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I have to use a mouse to edit video and create animation so I use the mouse for a lot of hours. This led me to develop a 'Repetitive Strain Injury' to my elbow, or known as 'Mouse Elbow'. I was a little sceptical about this joystick style mouse, but after just a couple of days my RSI has eased immensely. I think the mouse could do with being a little bit more vertical, but this is only a slight bug. It's also a little odd to get used to, but it's miles better than suffering with RSI, I can tell you!! This is how mice should have been invented from the start. I doubt I'll ever go back to a traditional mouse. If you can afford it, you may want to consider a touch screen monitor. This may be something I will look in to for the future. How you can edit video and do 3d animation with a touch screen is something I would like to investigate. Eventually it's probably the way all computing will go either as touch screen or hand gestures. Anyway. This is the perfect product to either stop RSI or prevent it in the first place. A must for a desk-bound workaholic.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again So for that reason it's 5 stars. The only negatives are that it took a while to get used to, especially the sensitivity in direction. Plus my business partner gets in a bit of a tiz when he jumps onto my computer to do something as he's not used to it. But of course it's mostly me using it so I couldn't drop a star for that.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again For me, for this reason, this mouse is brilliant. Your thumb clicks both right and left buttons, and it is very comfortable to hold with the upright joystick-like position. However, it's ridiculously expensive and has no mouse scroll wheel (it has a middle mouse button that I press with my middle finger). It also, unlike the Anker vertical mouse, doesn't turn off it's sensor after a period of inactivity, so I expect the battery life won't be as good as the Anker product (I inevitably forget to turn off the sensor). It's really nothing special, and I can't believe they didn't add a scroll wheel. But for me it's invaluable.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Note this is one solid unit - that handle doesnt tilt or swivel.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again This has been caused by years of mouse use. This ergonomic mouse ensures that your hand remains in a neutral position (unlike the twisting motion required when using the standard mouses). It is surprisingly easy to get used to as it is a natural position for your hand and extremely comfortable. After a month's use I've not suffered any repeat RSI when or after using it. I am delighted with the product and I will be buying another one to use at home since when I reverted to my old rollerball mouse at home, the RSI symptoms returned for a short while. I am delighted with this purchase and would not hesitate to recommend it.Sorry, we failed to record your vote.
