The 3M Digital Data Manager software needs to process these lists and create a database from them for use with the DLA. Lists need to be standard ASCII text files for proper processing. Topics List types Text file formats Tab delimited text file examples Pipe delimited text file examples Comma delimited text file example Fixed length text file example Multi-line text file example 2 List types Listed below are three list types used with the DLA. Depending on which functions you plan on using, you need to make sure that you have the correct file type. 1 - Shelf-order lists The DLA uses shelf-order lists to identify items that are out of order and perform shelving functions. These lists must contain item records in shelf order (the order in which the items are physically shelved). 2 - Search lists The DLA uses search lists to alert the user when an item on a search lists has been scanned. Each list identifies a group of items that a device can search for as it reads RFID tags. As long as the search list is enabled, any DLA function being used will alert the user of an item found on a search list. Purposes for search lists include: items on hold, lost or missing items, claimed returned items and items to be weeded. The item records in a search-list file can be listed in any order. Search lists are given user-defined names (e.g., hold, lost) that are exported along with the data. This allows the DLA to display the search-list name when an item on the list is found. 3 - Pull Lists A pull list is a list of items that you want the DLA to help you find sequentially, one item at a time.http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/67037 The DLA tracks which items were found and removed (pulled) from each pull list and which items remain (not pulled) on each pull list. The DLA saves pull-list results on the memory card. The item records in a pull-list file should be listed in the order that you wish to display and pull them using the DLA. 3 Text file formats Shelf Order lists, Search Lists, and Pull Lists need to be standard ASCII text files for the 3M Digital Data Manager to process the lists properly. Here is a description of each of the text file formats that can be processed directly with the 3M Digital Data Manager software: Delimited text file A delimited text file has one record per line and has a delimiter character inserted between each field to mark the end of one field and the beginning of the next. Most major ILS systems can create files in one or more of these delimited text file formats. If your system can create only Microsoft Excel files, you can use Excel to easily convert to either a tab delimited text file or a comma delimited text file. Fixed Length Text File Fixed length files have fields that are always the same length, even if not all characters are needed. There are no special delimiter characters between fields. Each field starts and ends on a specific character count. Multiline Text File Multiline text files have the data for one record on more than one line. The records are separated by blank lines. The 3M Digital Data Manager can be configured to use these files if necessary. 4 Tab delimited text file examples This is a tab delimited text file of a non-fiction list, with barcode in field 1, call number in field 2, and title in field 3. Each field is separated by a non-displaying tab character. The file is sorted by call number and can be used as a shelf order list.http://asyasunger.com/images/3m-detailing-system-manual.pdf A shelf order list should include all items in the collection regardless of status This is also a tab delimited text file, with call number in field 1, author in field 2, title in field 3, and item ID (barcode) in field 4. The file is sorted by call number and can be used as a shelf order list for the 900 section of the collection. 5 Pipe delimited text file examples This is a pipe delimited text file of a large print non-fiction list, with barcode in field 1, call number in field 2, status in field 3, title in field 4, author in field 5, and last checkin in field 6. The file is sorted by call number and can be used as a shelf order list if this is the order that the items will be shelved. This is a search list file with pipe delimiters. A search list does not have to be sorted in shelf order. 6 Comma delimited text file example In this example, a comma, character is used as the delimiter. This is a common file format sometimes called a csv (or comma separated variable). When a comma is used as a delimiter, text fields that may include a comma will be enclosed in quotation marks as shown. 7 Fixed length text file example Fixed length files have fields that are always the same length, even if not all characters are needed. In this example: The barcode starts at character position 1 and ends at character position 14. The call number starts at character position 15 and ends at 38, with spaces used to fill out the field. The title starts at 39 and ends at 60. 8 Multi-line text file example Multi-line text files have the data for one record on more than one line. The records are separated by blank lines. The 3M Digital Data Manager can be configured to use these files, if necessary. The example shows that: The call number is on line one, starting at character position 1. The title is on line one, starting at character position 22. The barcode is on line 2, starting at character position 2. The fields are considered fixed length fields, so each field needs to start in the same character position in each record. The report groups individual pay line items by job and generates subtotals for each We communicated very directly that many This How-To Guide covers the basics of importing and exporting common file types. View Information management in industrial areas: A knowledge management view Article Jan 2013 C.R.M. Pessoa Silva, U.P., Jr C.H.A. Cruz The constant demands for modernization of technological business parks and the high availability of technological resources provoke companies to invest in an unplanned and unstable manner in technologies. In this chapter, the authors observe the orientation of the strategic alignment and the perspective of the knowledge management with the objective to structure the implementation of technologies that are focused in industrial production. It uses a multiple cases studies method to verify the proposal of Knowledge Management in the production environment. In development, these multiple case studies evaluate how the insertion of RFID is given in an untimely manner, not allowing its users to obtain the best results from strategic management of knowledge for the alignment to enterprise strategies. These two constructs, reviewed in the theoretical framework, are used to analyze whether managers make decision based on these theories.
